For a makeup lover like myself, there is no more exciting sign of ☀ summer’s impending arrival than the annual appearance of Estée Lauder’s glowing, beachy Bronze Goddess collection and its effortlessly radiant sunlit nudes and bold brights.
This year’s release, which ranges from bonzing gels and powder bronzers to shadow palettes, fragrances and highlighters, has some seriously vintage poolside vibes, and I am loving it! ☺
Throw on your shimmering body oil, floppy hat and vintage sunglasses, and let’s take a look at some of the collection’s sumptuous summer treasures.
For me and many of the makeup lovers I know, it’s the highlight and bronzing palettes launched with the Bronze Goddess collections that set our hearts aflutter.
The classicly chic Summer Glow Multi-Palette ($50) comes in a tortoise-shell box and houses a soft pink illuminator, a rosy hued blush and an approachable bronzer. Although it was surely designed with faces in mind, it’s worth noting that the shades also work wonders on eyes as well (particularly the highlighter and bronzer). What a way to tie your look together when you’re in a hurry. ☺
The Gelée Bronzer ($32) has an interesting formula that reminds me of Hard Candy Cheeky Tint in Surfer Babe, except that Surfer Babe applies a transparent wash of iced tea color, while Gelée Bronzer deposits a highly pigmented shade a bit more like a liquified form of a powder bronzer.
Emollient and easy to blend, this bronzer gives you a long “working time” before it sets, but BEWARE! A little goes a long way, which you can see in these swatches.
I prefer to use products like Gelée Bronzer under my foundation to allow the slightest glow to show through; this in turn neutralizes some of the orangey-ness that often accompanies pigmented liquid bronzers.
I think the $34 Lip and Cheek Summer Glow sticks in Fuchsia Lights and Peach Glow are stars of the release (they’re also available in Sunburst, which isn’t shown). The monikers, though, are misnomers, because Fuchsia Lights is really more of a warm cherry red, and Peach Glow is a classic warm-toned pink.
Posessed on one end of a pigmented cream that can be applied both on the apples of the cheeks and the lips, and on the other of a shiny tinted gloss, these multi-talented tidbits are beach bag ready.
Applying the gloss is pretty self-explanatory, but it took me some trial and error to figure out my favorite way to apply the cream blush. After several days of testing, I settled on using a dense brush, tapping it directly on the product, and then blending that on my cheeks. It creates the exact kind of diffused glow I’m looking for.
The Estée Lauder 2016 Bronze Goddess collection is summer elegance encapsulated in a makeup collection. From fragrances to shimmering body oils, illuminators, bronzers and cream cheek products to mimic a happily hydrated summer skin look, Estée Lauder thought of everything for understated poolside elegance.
Inquiring minds want to know: what Bronze Goddess items do you look forward to each year?

I still have some my Estee Lauder Bronze Goddes perfume and oil body spray left from a few years ago. I love the beachy smell. I always wanted to try the glimmer sheen bronzy body lotion stuff too.The multi-palette looks good but kinda light for me.I’ll check it out in person. Looks fresh on you though!

Thank you, Denise! I know what you mean. Much like Bobbi Brown’s Beach their fragrance that comes out each year just smells of summer days.

Thank you, Renee! As much as I love makeup, some days it feels good to have a lighter hand.

It may sound strange, but the thing I look forward to the most is the ad. The promo pictures are usually so pretty.
Jessica Revitte says
Not strange at all! There are certain ADs that I always enjoy aesthetically, so I completely understand.

I looove liquid bronzer and I’m so happy to see so many brands launch new versions this summer! This one looks quite pigmented and maybe a bit warm, but I’m curious about it and tempted to try it in person.
Jessica Revitte says
If you find that this is too warm I highly recommend going to WalMart and grabbing Hard Candy’s Cheeky Tint. It’s a really nice cool toned bronzer option.

Wow, those color names for the lip / cheek products are inaccurate! Definitely what I think of as fuchsia (which is a color I really don’t like on me) or peach. Fuchsia looks almost coral-y red!
Jessica Revitte says
I know, at least where the red is concerned the names definitely threw me off. The pink pulls more peach in different lighting but it’s still more blue based than your average peach product.

Heyyyy, I posted a Bronze Goddess feature today as well 🙂 Did three glowy summer looks with three products from the collection. The Multi Palette is just beautiful, right? Also a big fan of the Gelée Bronzer.

Great minds. 🙂 So loving the palette, it’s a Bronze Goddess classic!

Luurrrrrvvvv this. I was immediately drawn to the colors on your eyes! Love that it’s a multi-tasking trick!

Almost any time I get a palette (be it for eyes or face) I’m always trying to find a way to make it multi-use. Being a busy mom it can make application much faster and doubles up as a good trick for overnight bags. 🙂
