I feel the need to talk about some nail polish today, so let’s talk about this cute collection, Essie Resort 2016.
If you knew me a couple of years ago, you probably would have known about my ridiculous polish addiction. Like, the addiction was real. I had a shelf covered with hundreds — yes, hundreds — of bottles.
I’ve since downsized to my current nail polish collection, but those were the days… I would paint my nails a different color almost every day of the week, not even kidding. I even got really good at design, but alas, babies came and time got short, and sleep became more important.
I am so, so ashamed to admit that I’ve only painted my nails maybe once over the last six months (!). That is just ree-dic and so unlike me, so when my best friend texted me the other day to go get my nails done with her, I jumped at the chance.
I also did something really different — I got acrylics! — and had them do the almond shape. I’ve always admired almond shaped nails but never thought to try them myself. Turns out, I LOVE them! There’s just something so feminine about long nails, although I am having the hardest time typing this post. You win some, you lose some, I guess.
In honor of my new nails, I’m wearing the new Essie Resort Collection for 2016.
All of these colors are so up my alley. I’ve never, ever been one to shy away from bright colors. In fact, they’re what I gravitate toward, and these are gorgeous! And actually pretty unique!
Normally when I get new nail polish colors the ones I decide to get aren’t too special compared to the polishes I already have, but some of these are unique and unlike anything I own.
These all have a cream finish, meaning that there’s no shimmer in them, which makes them even more perfect for summer, and they’re available now for $8.50 apiece.
Let’s go over the specific colors now and how they apply!
Going Guru
Going Guru is one of those unique shades I was talking about. There are plenty of minty greens out there, but this isn’t one of them. It’s more of a pastel green, more yellow-y than blue, and I LOVE it. It’s super fresh and different, but the formula is a little iffy on this one. It’s pretty sheer and takes at least three coats for an opaque finish, but it’s nothing that can’t be worked around.
Taj-Ma-Haul
Unique shade #2 here — Taj-Ma-Haul is a really cool muted terracotta orange. It’s something so different and would look amazing on anyone. It’s bright and fun without being too crazy, ya know? The formula’s also great. Two coats and you are covered.
Dehli Dance
Dehli Dance is a creamy bubblegum pink. Sometimes I see blue undertones in it, but other times I almost see a bit of coral. I think this one would look amazing on toes with a cute pair of sandals! The formula is standard as well. It just takes two coats!
Nama-Stay The Night
Okay, I love this one so much! Nama-Stay The Night is just so amazing. It reminds me of Popsicles for some reason… Who knows why. It’s the most gorgeous mid-toned cream blue, not to mention that it applies opaquely in one swipe. You could totally get away with using one coat, but I usually use two for good measure.
I am so happy with every single color in this release. They will be well loved. Which color is your favorite, and what have you been wearing lately on your nails?

They are! 🙂 Especially in person!

None of the shades are really my thing but I like the mani you did!
Jen Clark says
They are definitely a little bit out there! 🙂

Lovely colors! I love how Taj Ma Haul looks!
Jen Clark says
I do too! It’s such a cool color, unlike everything else I have!

I got a mini size set of them a few days ago. I prefer the minis, as I rarely finish a bottle. To be honest, I only painted my nails once after I had my baby boy, but I hope this will make me do them more often.
Jen Clark says
That’s such a good idea to get the mini’s, do you find they dry out fast though? Hopefully we can both find sometime to paint our nails more often 😉
LindaLibraLoca says
No, so far I didn’t find them to dry out very quickly. Not faster than my other polishes.
Jen says
They look great together like that on each finger. I think these shades need each other.
Jen Clark says
Thank you! They coordinate together so well!
Kiss & Make-up says
Such pretty shades! And I love how they look all together in one mani. Cute.
Jen Clark says
Thanks girl! 🙂

Ohmygoodness, I have this set! Totes agree with your review. Going Guru took more building up than I had expected but Nama- Stay The Night & Dehli Dance were awesome to work with. Haven’t used Taj- Ma- Haul yet but I’ve been really pleased with the set. I find all the colors to be quite unique. Hadn’t considered doing a skittles mani but it looks great on you. Well done! And as an aside, don’t you just love the names of these? 🙂
Jen Clark says
Thank you so much! Yes I love how Essie names their polishes, that’s half the fun of them I think 🙂

I love your pic with sunglasses..
love the names of the polishes! All of them denote something ‘Indian’..
Jen Clark says
Thank you! You’re right! The collection was inspired by India! 🙂

Yes, you should totally rock all 4 at once! It’s cute and you have such nice nails. I think that I like Delhi Dance the best. I usually wear light sheer colors because I must wash my hands 50 times a day (because of my work) and sheer polish doesn’t look as bad when it chips as opposed to opaque colors.
Jen Clark says
I actually haven’t taken all four off my nails yet and I’ve actually gotten quite a few compliments on it! Haha I was surprised 🙂 What do you do for work? Are you a nurse?
