This past weekend El Hub and I braved the long, winding drive out to the western side of Kauai to peer down into Waimea Canyon, also know as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.
First things first, the drive. It’s only 30 miles or so, but the road winds back and forth like a ship on rough seas and, uh, I got a little carsick (just a warning if you have a sensitive tummy like mine). Oh, but the view from the top was well worth a little nausea.
On the way to the canyon, we stopped by another local farmers’ market, this one in the parking lot of Kauai Community College.

OMG they have mountain apples there? I’ve really only seen them back home in Taipei. Never really thought you can find them elsewhere 😉

Karen, I love seeing all of your beautiful pictures from Hawaii, however, they also make me tremendously sad. My husband and I got married on Oahu almost 2 years ago and had an awful experience. Not because of Hawaii….Hawaii itself was amazing, but because we were there the same week as the APEC Conference and numerous roads and beaches were closed down…we were basically stuck in our hotel! 🙁 We are hopeful to go back someday and finally enjoy Hawaii…hopefully the second time is a charm! 🙂 Enjoy your trip! Give extra love to those cute kitties!

Seeing all those tropical fruits makes me miss Singapore!
When I saw that picture of the breadfruit, I first thought it was durian!

Oh my gosh you are on my island?! Well, obviously not MINE, but the same island as I am. I hope you find Kauai to be as beautiful and peaceful as I do. If there is anything I could help you with during your stay please let me know. 🙂 You can find me on twitter: MissDJM

So awesome that you’re posting your travels up! I’ve always wonder what there is to do on the other islands outside of Hawaii and they seem so fun!

Karen, smuggle me a breadfruit and I’ll pay you top dollar LOL!!
Seriously, I LOVE breadfruit and can only get it in Hawaii. If anyone can tell me where to get breadfruit in the greater Los Angeles area, I will be truly grateful. I’ve scoured websites and markets. Nada, zip, zero.
