These freaking tacos, man!
Honestly, I have no idea where good taco pictures come from because it’s really, really hard to take a good taco pic. This is something I realized last night while trying to stage and photograph these lentil walnut taco wraps so they’d look remotely cute in pics.
Um, fail! It took me forever to take these because the veggies kept falling out of the romaine leaves… It was a hot mess.
These might not look like the neatest taco wraps ever, but taste-wise, they were beyond good. I got the recipe from ohsheglows.com but tweaked it with cheese and sour cream.
I wish I could’ve thought of a better way to photograph the lentil-taco “meat” (there’s no meat in them; they’re totally veg) more clearly, because really, that stuff was the star of the show. Next time I give this a whirl I’ll photograph the lentil mash better. It even kinda looks like beef.
Someday, I will conquer you, you dastardly taco! You haven’t defeated me yet!

THANK YOU Karen for introducing me to the awesomeness that is ohsheglows.com So much great food in one place. I try to eat mostly vegetarian because I feel better when i do but when my inspiration fails all I want is prcessed meat – mostly because it is fast and readily available with minimal effort. Ohsheglows is getting me back in my veggie eating grove and without your tip I would NEVER have found it.

You’re welcome, Petra!

I love Oh she Glows! Have you checked out her cookbook? Mine is beat-up from all the use it gets.
Also, you might try her Taco Salad, which even my meat-loving husband enjoys. http://ohsheglows.com/2012/06/12/layered-raw-taco-salad-for-two/

That looks delicious! And much cuter than my tacos. LOL!

That looks so darn GOOD! Hooooongreh!

Ahhh stahpppp you keep posting awesome food! I was sitting for a 4 hour tattoo yesterday and right before read about the frittata you made. I was hungry the whole time!
These look delicious. I’m gonna browse around and find a recipe for dinner! Thanks for the food inspiration!
Karen says
I want to hear about the tattoo!
Elena says
It’s a crow on a branch! It’s holding a necklace because they love shiny things! I added on to my arm piece! It didn’t hurt that bad but I was losing steam because I was starving!
Karen says
Oh how cool! Why did you decide on a crow? Is it your favorite bird? And now I need to know what the necklace looks like…
Would you believe I don’t have any tattoos? I love them on other people but have never had the guts to get one on myself. I’m too indecisive and I also don’t like needles.
Elena says
Crows are fascinating creatures! I just finished reading In the Company of Crows. A book all about crows and how they have thrived alongside humans as well as their behavior. Really interesting read.
I just think they are cool (and historically) misunderstood creatures. It also went well with my sugar skull tattoo! I will have to send you a picture when it is all healed up! The crow is holding a pendant that is on a chain with lots of little pearls!
This was tattoo number 7 for me! Lol. The pain isn’t that bad. This time around I was more tired/hungry and uncomfortable. I could have added more to this tattoo and finished my forearm but I wanted foooood!
Among my tattoos I also have a maneki neko tattoo as well!
On a side note I am on the verge of buying at least one Chanel olivine…maybe another for my mom. My willpower is waning. Haha.
Karen says
Yeah, they’re super cool birds. And very smart! The ones that live in my neighborhood hang out on the power lines. They drop nuts or seeds from up high and then wait for cars to run them over. Isn’t that crazy? They also understand traffic. I’ve seen them walk into and out of the street to avoid cars.
Re: pain. You’re like my friend Cindy. She said the same thing about the pain and compared it to going to the dentist, which of course FREAKED ME OUT. The only tattoos that are going on me are temporary ones. LOL I don’t rule out getting one but it would have to be something that I could commit too. And then of course if there were words I’d have to decide on a font …Er, I probably shouldn’t be getting a tattoo.
Would love to see yours when they’re done. Please send the pics over!

Ahh! I’m loving your food posts these days Karen. These veggie taco wraps look delicious. Going to check out the recipe for sure.
My favourite quick yet yummy dish is Deliciously Ella’s Cannellini Bean Stew (http://deliciouslyella.com/cannellini-bean-stew/) . It takes 10 minutes to make. When topped with avocado slices, it gives me enough energy to go to the gym after a full day at work.

Just bookmarked it! Thank you Fieran. I love quick recipes. 🙂

I HAVE to show my friends this! They’ll love it! Heck, I need to try it myself since my diet has been so crummy lately lol. Thanks for sharing!

Looks good to me! I love veg meals. I’m so not a vegan/vegetarian but I do appreciate this type of food and try to incorporate it often 🙂

I’ve made these too and they were amazing! Even my very skeptical husband devoured them! 🙂 I’m going to make Angela’s vegan banoffee pie today, super excited to eat it!
Karen says
Let me know how it goes! I’ve been drooling over those pics for weeks. 🙂

Yum! I was going to make artichokes for dinner and was wondering what to stuff them with. I wonder if they’d taste good with this as a filling. Or maybe just a side. I have a recipe for tacos (my husbands favorite, go figure for a guy who orders steak every time we eat out) made with soy crumbles, but those are getting harder to find. Last couple of times I went to Whole Foods they didn’t have them.
I think your food photography is coming along nicely. You make me hungry every time you post a food photo!
Karen says
Aww, thanks Tatiana! I have a lot to learn but am enjoying the process. 🙂

The hardest part must be taking 100 pictures when you are starving!
Steph says
OMG, I need to make these! I’ve been relying too much on veggie (soy) “meat” for tacos. Thanks for the recipe link! P.S. I think your photos look great. 🙂

I think you’ve done a beautiful job! I’m a certified beef gal but even I think these look super tasty! 🙂
