I feel like I can’t/should never buy zee nice zings because of teh kitteh, but I want this green couch from Ikea so badly!
Unfortunately, it would take Tabs less than 2.5 seconds to put snags in the cushions with his claws. I can already hear the fabric ripping and feel the sweet, sweet pain…
This bright jewel green sofa is in the March issue of Better Homes and Gardens.
Yes, I read Better Homes and Gardens! 🙂 My mom gets me a subscription every year as a gift, and I love it.
Anyway, this sofa is featured in an article about BHG’s color palette of the year (similar idea to Pantone’s Color of the Year, but for an entire palette of coordinating colors), where they talk about a vibrant palette of leafy jungle green, deep ocean blue, berry, gray and coral, and I’m totally feelin’ it.
I’m currently campaigning at home to paint our living room walls coral (and to get the green Ikea couch). Let’s see how long it takes for El Hub to get on board, haha!
I dunno… I guess I’m just tired of living that beige life, ya know? When we first moved into our condo five years ago, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with the place, so I picked neutral colors for the walls and curtains, thinking that I’d switch out the beige when the inspiration struck.
Well, that time has finally come.
Get outta my dreams, and get into my living room, you green Ikea couch!

Nice! I love colors (hence the MUA 😉 ) and I’m in the process of choosing colours for my new kitchen. I’ve been looking at that Pantone Spring 2015 color palette – aquamarine, scuba blue and custard especially.

Well if it is IKEA, it won’t be as bad if Tabs leaves his mark. And as someone with a lot of IKEA stuff: Their fabrics are pretty sturdy and survived the love of Little Bean so far.
Spring is the time I long for color, too, but I know that will soon pass, so I just change the cushions an some decor.

Ha, as a fellow cat mama, I can testify our furniture options are limited. When I bought the sofa, one of the things I took into consideration is the fact that it color-matches the kitties (so that it won’t look as fluffy as it is). This green one is so much fun, but Tabs might add some fancy tassels to it before long…

Oops, I don’t like it 🙁 I guess I’m more into neutral modern furniture. I feel kinda bad though, because usually I love all things green.

Oh man. I love my absurdly bright peacock blue couch from LoveSac. When I moved in with my SO, his whole house was beige walls and mismatched wood furniture. I spent the first couple of months painting EVERYTHING (I have an unnatural hatred of beige). The walls are a cool-neutral grey (with darker accent walls), the furniture is wood and black.. but my couch is SO BLUE.
LoveSac is great for me because the fabric is really sturdy (the cats leaping on and off the arms hasn’t scratched it, even through their kitten phase when it was All Claws – All the Time), and machine washable. I will talk up LoveSac all. day. long.

We have the dog issue and opted for a deep navy leather couch. Wipes down easily 🙂 But I hear ya, sometimes I long for a soft colorful couch with tons of pretty pillows.

I hear you on wanting some color. We’ve been living in this house for 12 years now and almost the whole house is painted Benjamin Moore Sailcloth (beige) with white trim. The only two rooms I’m not tired of are the master bedroom which I had painted in a custom mix of a light sage green and my daughter’s bedroom which is shades of lilac and lavender.
I think if the fabric on the sofa is a really tight weave you should be OK. We got a sofa from Room & Board and the fabric I chose is a very tight twill weave. Both of my kitteh girls hop on the sofa constantly and the fabric has held up, even to the excessive amount of vacuuming I subject it to. Unfortunately, the undersides of some chairs have not held up as well. My kittehs have sharp claws.
I love the idea of color in furniture. My friends who moved here from Germany have a deep berry red sofa in a very modern high back shape. It’s the focal point of their living room and I love it.
Please post photos if you decide to get the sofa and paint the walls!

Lovely pick Karen.. it could be nice change for spring/summers but with colors I get bored pretty easily.. wish i had an option to switch colors and furniture with every season or may be year to add freshness to my living space 😉

I love the green color it has. It’s slightly different in person if I recall. More kelly green. I love that malachite pillow. I also like BHG. I’m a big Sunset fan too! If I were to get magazines again, it would be Food&Wine, Sunset, BHG, and InStyle.

I love that couch! I am going to be moving into a house this summer and I also want new furniture, but I think my cat will just shred it like the one I have now (which is also Ikea). My sorta solution is paint in bright colors and decorate with bright pillows/accessories. Cost plus world market has a cute sage colored dresser I want for my bedroom. And the Threshold line from target has furniture in colors other than neutral!

That BHG color palette has been haunting my dreams. Usually BHG is so .. suburban .. in their aesthetic but this spread was much more adventurous than usual. I love them loud Ikea couches, too, cause you can get a second slipcover in a neutral for when you decide to turn down the volume on the couch and make the rest of the room loud instead. 🙂
Also BHG has the best weeknight recipes, even my picky husband eats them. I’ve been reading it since I was in my early 20s, I’ve never owned a home or a garden and am about as far from Suzie Homemaker as you can imagine, it’s my guilty pleasure.

As one CCL to another – have you considered getting claw caps for The Tabster? They last for a few months, come in fun colors, and keep my Ungrateful Fur Tubes from putting any more holes in the window screens/couch/bedroom sliding screen/my leg.
Think of it. You could get a green couch and get Tabs a matching green manicure!

LOVE that color, but I’m weary of Ikea couches. We sat in like every couch they had and most of them were super uncomfortable. They look REALLY nice, but they aren’t really made for sitting.
One of the reasons we haven’t gotten new furniture is I know the cats would trash it and I’d be furious. At this point they can do whatever they want and we don’t care. I would like ‘big girl responsible adult furniture’ instead of the mish mosh we have now.

I’m not big into color in my home (sooooo neutral!), but I adore this couch! It’s perfect with the dark walls.

Oh I feel your pain! I moved into a new house a year and a half ago and STILL haven’t bought sofas for the sitting room upstairs because of teh kitteh.
