Your nephew did a wonderful job assisting me with Thanksgiving today. He kept close watch as I prepped the food in the kitchen, and then supervised the actual eating at the table.
Such a dedicated kitty. 🙂
The crab was a success by the way. In case you were wondering, yes — crab tastes pretty darned good dipped in gravy (who knew?).
Now I’m off to swan dive into my third (!) slice of pecan pie.
Can I get you a slice? Would you like it with, or without whipped cream (or one of each)?
Divya says
Oh wow what a spread! 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving Karen!
Karen says
Thank you, Divya! Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
Debra says
Yummy!! Love those plates! Those crabs are monstrous.
Tabs looks ready to dive into the feast!
The first Thanksgiving supposedly did not have turkey but tons of seafood and venison, so you did tradition half-proud.
I stopped at one piece of pumpkin pie. No whipped cream (slight reducing regime going on).
Din-din was fresh (Diestel) roasted turkey, my special stuffing (with walnuts, dried cranberries, Granny Smith apple), mashed red potatoes (with skins left on), green beans, applesauce, cranberry sauce. No gravy. Tomorrow we add sliced carrots to the leftovers.
And it’s all better the next day! Tabs would agree!
The 49ers are in re-building mode.
Karen says
Hey Debra,
I just saw a recipe for a similar stuffing in a Williams-Sonoma Thanksgiving cookbook that I have on hand. I’ve actually never made anything in the book; I just like to look at the pretty, pretty pictures. Sounds delish!
I also keep the skins on my mashed potatoes. Too lazy to peel them!
Hope you and the hubby had a lovely day, and woo hoo, happy Friday!
Jenny says
Crab on Thanksgiving? This sounds like my kind of meal! As a pescetarian, I appreciate this… there wasn’t much I could eat at my family dinner aside from bread, bread, annnnnnnnd more bread. Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Karen says
Yes! I originally was going to skip it (really not into turkey) and just get El Hub a couple slices from the local deli, but then I saw a sign at Whole Foods for crab and had a revelation! From here on out I’m all about crabs for T-day. 🙂
Kristina Vieweg says
Looks so yummy! The crabs look so cozy in that pot lol. Hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving!
Karen says
Hi Kristina,
It was all very tasty! Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. 🙂
May says
Crab!!! Now that is my kind of Thanksgiving! I can almost taste them. Karen those are massive crabs. Did Tabs get a nibble? He looks like he was ready to pounce but was being patient. Happy Thanksgiving!
Hugs from the Great Up North.
Karen says
Hi May,
They are pretty big. We got Dungeness crabs — my fave! Super sweet and very tasty.
We gave Tabs a little nibble and he licked it for a long time, lol. It was hard to tell if he was into it or not.
He also got some gravy, which he loved. And he tried a couple drops of melted butter for the first time. 🙂
Happy Friday to you! What are you doing this weekend?
Kathryn Whitworth says
Wow! Seems you have a great time preparing all these foods. I want to try that crab, it looks so yummy! Anyway, happy thanksgiving to you..Enjoy your day!
Karen says
It was so good! Dungeness crab is my favorite. So much flavor, om nom nom!
Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. Where did you celebrate?
Kathryn Whitworth says
Yeah. I really had a nice Thanksgiving. I was over my grandmothers as it was her birthday. It was a double celebration for our family and I always had a great time with them. 🙂
Katie says
Looks like a wonderful dinner!
I love that first photo with you and Tabs looking at each other, you need to frame it!
Karen says
Hi Katie,
Thank you! He’s such a ham… I love him!
Happy Friday to you. 🙂
Sunny says
Eeee you guys are too dang cute!!! The crabs look delicious, and man, Tabs is one photogenic kitteh!!! <3
Karen says
He’s always camera ready. Life of a super model and all. 🙂
Happy Friday, Sunny!
LindaLibraLoca says
I´ll have it with whipped cream, please.
Off to pour me a sympathy Hot Chocolate. With whipped cream, of course!
Karen says
Got it! *passes pie*
Also, here’s your hot chocolate. In an extra large mug, of course. We have a few mugs that are as big as my head (so not kidding).
LindaLibraLoca says
Yes, nothing beats an XL mug.
I use them all the time at home, and now, on holiday, realize how much I miss them when they aren’t around.
Alyssa Melanie says
Those look delish! And Tabs is so cute. 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving, Karen!
Karen says
He’s always posing and ready for the camera, unlike me, lol. I wish I had at least filled in my brows for these pics, but I was HUNGRY!
Kiss & Make-up says
You sure you had enough, Karen?? 😉 Nice spread, whew!
Karen says
Actually no, lol. I had a second Thanksgiving meal at dinner (gotta go in for round two) and then had pecan pie for breakfast.
That’s how I roll! 😀
Eesha says
Oh wow… those crabs look awesome. Happy Thanksgiving Karen. Hope you are having fun 🙂
Karen says
Hi Eesha,
They were delicious! We didn’t finish the last one, so I ended up cracking and cleaning it and setting it aside for today and tomorrow. Happy Friday!
Arianne says
Laughed out loud at that last photo of Tabs looking super serious at the table! Looks like your Thanksgiving was wonderful and the food, a success. 🙂 YAY! BTW, no pumpkin pie for you?
Karen says
Thank you, Arianne! No, I’d happily pick pecan pie over pumpkin. I’ll eat pumpkin in a pinch though!
Happy Friday!
Karolina says
Tabs face in the first photo – priceless 😀
Karen says
He’s a kitty model through and throuhg. 🙂 How was your Thanksgiving?
Marina(Makeup4all) says

Karen says

Stefi says
Wow, this looks so yummy! And Tabs is so cute sitting at the table 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, sweetie! <3
Love,

Annemarie says
Karen, Tabs is so hamming it up for the camera it almost looks like you Photo-shopped him in! 🙂
Karen says
Hi, Annemarie. I know! But I didn’t. That’s 100% natural Tabs. 🙂 Sometimes he can be quite charming (especially when he’s begging for table scraps).
Erin says
No Plate for TABS? He’s so cute!
Ericca says
Being from Baltimore crab is big time here. I wonder why no one wants to serve it at Thanksgiving dinner. Maybe we are too old school on the east coast. I love the pics of Tabs.He looks like he would be a great supervisor. I would one of each when it comes to pie, do you have sweet potato and since it Thanksgiving throw on the whipped cream.
Kim says
You went with the crab! Good for you! I’m glad it turned out well. 🙂 We went with the traditional dinner and are still working through the leftovers, plus some turkey rice soup! Just think, in about a month, we’ll be doing it all again. The thought of that makes me want to run. Literally. To make some room in my fat cells. 🙂
Vanessa says
These pictures are so cute!!
