Well color me intrigued… 🙂
These new Tarte Colored Clay CC Primers look really cool. They’re like a primer and a sheer stick foundation in one, with two color correcting wedges in purple and green embedded inside each creamy stick.
This powerful, multi-tasking, skin perfector brightens skin, evens skin tone, blurs imperfections and neutralizes any redness or discolorations. The oil-free, talc-free formula soothes skin as it glides and blends effortlessly for a smooth, even finish. Its “hourglass” applicator design delivers the perfect balance of color correction and coverage to adjust to your skin. Use it before foundation as a color-correcting primer or alone as a light coverage for an all-over flawless look.
Tarte… That gang never forgets about us gals on the deeper, darker skin tone side of the beauty swimming pool, and I love them for that. These come in five shades, encompassing most of the beauty bases from Fair, to Light, to Medium, Tan and Deep.
I’m a Medium right now, but I can’t wait to be a Tan this summer! (Because it’ll mean I’ve been getting some much-needed sun.)
My thoughts after playing with them this morning…
- LOVE the lightweight, silky formula. They contain dimethicone, and consequently have that tell-tale dimethicone “slip.”
- They really couldn’t be a lot easier to use. Just apply directly to the skin, and blend out with your fingers.
- I’d describe the coverage as somewhere between sheer and medium. The one I’m using, Medium, does seem to cancel out the redness around my nose, thankfully, but I can definitely still see the freckles on my cheeks…
- I think I like wearing best these under powder foundation (looks very natural, and my pores look smaller).
- Medium does seem to even out my skin, but it doesn’t create anything like a mask. I’ve yet to try these under liquid foundation, but I want to.

Wow! I am very intrigued! I have yet to try a Tarte foundation but these look super easy to use.
Karen says
Have you tried their Tinted Moisturizer? It’s pretty good.
Rads says
They do look different 😀
Karen says
Yes they do! And they don’t go chalky on darker skin, hooray!
Rads says
I was just thinking that looking at your swatches..cos looking those green stripes I was kind of thinking hmmmm..chalkyy..but nope..the swatches seem just fine 😀
Jenn says
Intriguing! How do you think they’ll fare with dry skin? It’s freezing in Toronto and my skin is prone to flakes due to the cold and dry environment.

Sweet!

This product does look very interesting, almost too interesting to want to try. But they do seem very convenient.
Karen says
Gotta love makeup in sticks!

I’ve been curious about these… I want to try this and the NARS primer stick you posted about the other day.
Karen says
The NARS Primer is AMAZING! You have to give it a go.
Natalie says
These look psychedelic! I love the color correcting wedges. I really want to try these now. Happy Monday Karen!
Karen says
Happy Monday to you too!

Hmm… I’m going to have to read more on these. I still haven’t played around with BB creams, so CC creams are new territory. And CC cream sticks are a like a whole different universe!
Karen says
Honestly, I think a lot of the whole BB/CC thing is marketing. You’re essentially getting a very sheer tinted moisturizer with some skin care thrown in. I’d almost rather go with a regular tinted moisturizer, you know?

They look so cool.
Karen says
Yup!

These are really interesting. I like the concept and the design a bit. Reminds me of a popsicle lol. I wonder how I’d like it though.
Karen says
Yes! Looks like neopolitan ice cream, kinda!
Nikki says
That Willy Wonka mention made me laugh, thanks! I’m a bit wary to try this though because of the dimethicone content.
Sylirael says
So true! The really do look like chocolate candy or ice cream of some sort! A bit like the kind that, when you eat it as an adult, kinda makes you feel a bit sick afterwards 😛
I like the idea of them, though! Shame we don’t get Tarte here.
Gowthami says
They looks super nice!! 😀
Cindy says
I don’t know if I’m crazy about primers.. I mostly just moisturize before applying makeup. I do like certain CC creams because they do start you off with an even canvas, but not for everyday.
Danielle says
This seems pretty cool. Tarte is one of those brands that I haven’t ventured out into their “skin makeup” range.

Karen, you said you can’t wait to be tan in the summer…maybe I’m lazy but I hate switching over to different color makeup/foundation as well as different skin care for my then oilier skin. its just a pain.
don’t u feel u have to switch up your whole skin care routine and figure it all out again?
also I feel like when I’m tan I’m less likely to experiment with color.
maybe its just me.

I was just wondering what shades you wear in urban decay naked or MUFE so I can get a good idea of which one to order!! I’ve been wanting these so bad but idk if tarts is true to color. I’ve heard they’re usually a shade darker than the usual.
