It’s December, there’s a chill in the air, it rained half the day, and there’s a carpet of colorful autumn leaves on the ground.
Yup, it’s sweater weather, which means that it’s also a good time to burn my new favorite candle, the appropriately named Sweater Weather, by Bath & Body Works ($22.50). It’s currently bringing sweater-themed holiday cheer and a cozy eucalyptus, juniper berry and sage scent to my living room right meow.
There’s something about candles and the holidays, right? This time of year, it really feels right.
Conveniently — or, not so conveniently, depending on your perspective on scented candles — a new Bath & Body Works store opened at the mall by my house, and GURL, you know that saying about how you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone? Well, it totally applies to Bath & Body Works, LOL! There used to be one in my town, but they closed a little over a year ago, and I didn’t realize how much I missed it until this new store opened at the mall.
Anyways, the candles. The store has all of their fall and winter stuff out now, and there are a ton of scents to choose from, but it’s not just the fragrances. The candles themselves are also great quality.
They last a long while (35-45 hours) and burn evenly and consistently. The fragrances also fill the house, no matter where they are. Like, I can be burning Sweater Weather in my office upstairs, and the scent will carry down the hall, down the stairs, and into the living room.
My favorites are the candles with three wicks in the jar, because they also come with a surprisingly useful lid, so don’t throw it away! First, it helps to keep dust and cat hair out of the candle, but it also works as an extinguisher. All you do is set the lid back on top of the candle while it’s burning, and the flames go out, which is a better strategy than the approach El Hub took once when he blew out one of the candles and molten wax shot out all over the place.
If you live with a boy, please point this out to them; otherwise, they may just end up using brute lung force, which could result in wax splattering all over your living room coffee table (I’m talking to you, El Hub).
Sweater Weather is my favorite of the new ones I’ve tried, but I also just finished the Welcome Autumn Spiced Wreath Candle ($22.50), which spent most of last month scenting my living room with fresh balsam sprigs, cinnamon bark and ground clove.
It kind of smelled like Christmas trees. A good one for the entryway to the house.
Also, earlier this week I started burning the Frosted Cranberry ($22.50), with its white cranberry, juicy peach and ripe raspberry notes, in my kitchen.
Love it! It’s more tart than sweet, which I like, since I’m not really into sweet smelling scented candles.
How do you feel about scented candles? Are you a fan of the ones at Bath & Body Works? I can’t be the only one of us who’s addicted!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Bath & Body Works has the best candles, and with all their sales and coupons you can get them pretty cheap! And they have a huge variety of scents, I don’t have a favorite but this time of year I end up burning some kind of cinnamon one!

Omg I loooooove their candles!! Sweater Weather is a good one! My favorite hands down is the lavender vanilla!!

I keep a lavender vanilla mini of theirs in my suitcase when I travel, and then put it out in a hotel room. Even without burning it, the whole room smells nice, and I feel so calm.
A friend told me about a sale this coming weekend on 3 wicks, so I’ve been making a list of which scents to buy.

I am OBSESSED with Bath and Body Works candles! I love that they scent up our entire apartment so easily. My favorite lately has been sweet cinnamon pumpkin, but I just got frosted cranberry as well! Excited to try that one. PS- that picture of tabs is so adorable! ❤️

I had the opportunity to smell Bath&Bodyworks candles for the first time this spring in Singapore, as they are not readily available in Germany, but I was a little disappointed. After hearing so much about them, most of the scents were quite sweet and artificial. The one I liked (and of course bought and saved until now) was “Fresh Balsam”, that is currently burning in our living room,
Everything you say about the quality though is true! I guess I had no lucky hand in picking up candles, so I might have to give them another try if I ever get the chance again.

Tabs looks quite handsome in his turtleneck ♥
My favorite BBW candles are the fall ones, all the pumpkins.

I am so glad someone else shares my love for the sweater weather scent! It is my absolute fave! I even use the wall plugs, except of course my kids and husband don’t get it, they just call anything scented for the house “glade” lol

I love scented candles! My husband was at the mall and randomly came home with some Yankee Candles on sale, but now I want to try these too! I think I would like Sweater Weather. One of the Yankee scents was Sugar Cookie, which is quite yummy.
Bath and Body Works has been around for a long time. I remember using Sweet Pea and Cucumber Melon lotions back in college!

I’ve never tried a BBW candle but have had lots from Yankee Candle. I have a several electric warmers around the house (you know, home goods parties.. you have to buy SOMETHING) and they’re nice since they’re flame free. I think I get the most use out of the Air Wick plug ins, though. I’m not wow’d by the flavor selections but they are great at disseminating a lovely scent. Apple Cinnamon is great in the kitchen in the fall. And I don’t have to worry about the herd of kittehs getting into hot wax. 🙂

Their candles with three wicks are my favorite candles! They recently brought back my favorite one, Peppermint Marshmallow. I hadn’t seen it in a few years so I stocked up last time they had a sale:)

OK, I’m sorry to be Debby Downer….but I care, really I do. Almost all scented candles (and perfumes and scented stuff in general) are highly toxic. Here’s a link if you want to check it out: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/16/scented-candles-toxic-safer-options_n_7536410.html
so yeah – not a fan of scented candles.

Hey Karen,
I am definitely a scented candle lover and Bath and Body Works has some of the most magnificent scents I’ve ever come across. Come Autumn/Winter time I look forward to the homey scents because they can make you think of: baked goods, grandma’s kitchen, fresh Christmas wreaths and even brisk Winter wind (sounds a bit dramatic but it’s almost like I’m somewhere else when I burn them).
This season I only got a few because I missed the semi-annual sale (they’re pretty pricey w/o it) , but I was able to try some of the Henri Bendel candles. They only slightly impressed me because the scents didn’t really match the names too much. I was pleased with the clean burn of some of them and lucky to have caught them on sale.
If you have a Fry’s or Kroger affiliated store in your area check out there 2-3 wick candles. A great B&BW substitute and they are only around $3-$4 bucks.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas. <3

I love scented candles. I don’t usually get ones from BBW because they smell fake to me but these sound nice. I like the Henri Bendel scents they used to carry. Firewood is my favorite. I tend to go for the candles at Anthro and high end shi shi ones.

I love Bath and Body work candles ! Right now I’m burning Pumpkin Pecan Waffles, yummy! Thanks for the tip about using the top as a extinguisher , I did that yesterday and it worked perfectly. And no smoke fumes after. Heads up everybody the 3 wick candles are $8.00 in store today!!! I’m picking up some Christmas scents !

I am so addicted to these! I turn into a fanatic when they do the 2 for $24 sales, and I was thrilled when I stumbled on one today! My favorites out right now are the Balsam and Marshmallow Fireside. My cat Shakespeare loves vanilla even more than catnip, so anything Vanilla Bean Noel and his nose goes nuts!
