Hey kitty cats,
Ah, the trials and tribulations of being a husky tabby! I’ve been searching high and low for a window perch able to support my luxurious frame for what feels like an eternity. Most of them claim to be designed for cats of all sizes but turn out to be of such dubious construction that I doubt they would support kittens half my weight.
As luck would have it, my assistant mentioned that she found one claiming to support felines up to 35 pounds on a recent trip to Petco.
Purr-fect, as I am currently pushing 20 pounds (I had to bulk up for an upcoming action movie role with Channing Tatum), so I gave the girl my American Express black card and said, “mrow!” Bring one back, and make it snappy!
She returned with the $29.95 Cat Napper, and we assembled it together today.
Actually, she assembled it while I supervised; these paws weren’t made for manual labor.
The perch has a hammock style design with a polyester cover and a sturdy plastic frame. Two large Velcro stickers, one which goes on the frame and the other on the window, secure the perch in place. Or, you can use the included wood screws to make the install more permanent.
We opted for the Velcro, as I do not trust my assistant with power tools…
The process was surprisingly quick and easy. We had the whole thing built and installed in 10 minutes.
There were a couple tricky things, like figuring out that we had to attach the frame legs on the outside of the cover, instead of the inside.
Cutting the small holes in the fabric for the bolts to go through was also a little challenging (we didn’t want to make them too big and tear it).
The Velcro stickers are super sticky, so be sure you pick your window carefully, because if you change your mind and want to move the strips someplace else, you could damage the paint on the window sill.
I’m really enjoying the Cat Napper. It was easy to install (with my assistant’s help), and the polyester cover feels great against my fur.
I’ve already taken several long naps up there and even spotted a few turkeys.
One word of caution for my plus-size brethren: I highly doubt that a plus-size cat of 35 pounds could comfortably lounge in the Cat Napper. I place the max weight closer to 25.
Who is Tabs the Cat?
About seven years ago I befriended a stray, flea-bitten tabby cat with a bad case of worms. I could see he’d fallen on hard times, but his profound knowledge of high fashion and department store cosmetics led me to believe that he was more than meets the eye. We became fast friends, and now he’s actually my boss (and a successful kitty model).
Kitty hugs and kisses, always,
Tabs

Love this! My bed lays right up against a sunny window, so Jiji and I took a nice afternoon nap up there today!
Also got to hang out with my Marmie neighbor kitty. I had passed by him on the way to Dairy Queen, but on the way back he wasn’t at his house. Lo and behold, he’s curled up on my front steps! <3 We got some good pets in. He must have known I would come back to play with him.

You look so comfy there, Tabs! Love and kisses!

This looks like it would be great for my husky boys! Although, they would probably fight over it!

So cute. Lucky kitty!

What a nice cat lounger! I’m going to check this out for Blaow. Right now he sits on one of my dining room chairs and looks out the window. I like that you can use velcro instead of screws.
Karen says
Hi Denise,
Tabs loves it! He can look out the window at the wild turkeys we have around here, and I know how you feel about the screws. The velcro is one of the main reasons I chose this model over some of the other ones. Hope you’re having a good night.

You are really pretty Karen!
Karen says
Aw, thank you, Julie. 🙂 This was my no-makeup makeup look. Fo’ reals. No makeup at all.

Ahhh this is so cool!!! I’ve been eyeing stuff like this for a while, but Tango here is also pretty… husky and I was so sure the thing would break in a minute or two. I’ll look around to see if anything similar is available!

Aww, Tabs is epic 🙂 Absolutely terrible the way they build windowsills these days. Shameful, really.
Good thing Tabs has a highly skilled handywoman for an assistant!

I have the same napper and it holds my 3 12-15lb cats all at the same time. We opted to screw it in, they kind of lay on top of each other, but so far so good 🙂
E says
Oh we need one of these!
Leah says
My cat Tulip has the same one as Tabs. She’s had it for a couple of years and loves it. She put all of her toys up there too. If you need to replace the velcro they sell similar sized ones at JoAnn’s
