Ladies and gentle tabbies, next time your feline friend/employer goes hiking through tall grasses and ends up covered in pollen and smelly plant funk, may I suggest a waterless bath using John Paul Pet Waterless Foam Shampoo for Dogs & Cats ($12.99). It smells great and dries quicker than two swishes of a cat’s tail.
While on safari yesterday in my back yard, I wandered into uncharted territory. I cannot help it; I have an explorer’s heart, and I’m compelled to go where no other cat — as far as I know — has gone before. In this case, that included a tall patch of wildflowers and grasses.
Unfortunately, my curiosity left my normally immaculate coat in a state of disarray. I came out covered with pollen and a mysteriously stinky plant filth.
Back at the office, I charged my assistant with finding an immediate solution. I am a kitty supermodel, after all. There’s no way I’m going about my day with my fur in less than tip-top condition.
Meow! Time was of the essence because I had a nap scheduled for the early afternoon. My assistant rushed out to Petco and returned with John Paul Pet Waterless Foam Shampoo for Dogs & Cats ($12.99, part of a line that also includes a gentle puppy and kitten shampoo, paw wipes, and ear and eye wipes).
She squeezed a few pumps in her hand, and a smile spread across my feline face. Mmmm… It smelled faintly of powder and almonds.
It’s designed to penetrate, deep clean and deodorize coats for water-averse cats and dogs while gently soothing skin.
Ingredients: Water (aqua), cocamidopropyl betaine, sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, hydrolyzed whole oats (pending), chamomilla recutita (matricaria) extract, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, sodium hydroxymethlgycinate, cocamide DEA, citric acid, propylene glycol, fragrance (parfum).
She massaged the luxurious foam into my fur, avoiding my sensative ears and eyes, working all the way down to the tip of my tail.
I recorded the massage on my iPhone, and I think you can tell by my purrs that I enjoyed it.
After that, she brushed the product through my fur until it dried, which, much to my delight, only took a few minutes.
Ooh-la-la! My fur was incredibly soft. I could actually see the difference. It definitely looked smoother and smelled better. I felt like a million bucks and, because it dried so quickly, I didn’t have to reschedule my nap.
Tabby needs his beauty sleep!
According to the side of the bottle, the product was tested on humans first, and it’s cruelty-free. That gets two husky paws up from me.
Who is Tabs the Cat?
About seven years ago I befriended a stray, flea-bitten tabby cat with a bad case of worms. I could see he’d fallen on hard times, but his profound knowledge of high fashion and department store cosmetics led me to believe that he was more than meets the eye. We became fast friends, and now he’s actually my boss (and a successful kitty model).
Love always,
Tabs

Looks like I need something similar for my hair. 🙂 Powder/starch dry shampoo personally doesn’t work well and quite messy for me.

I do not have a cat but I would get it if I did. OOoohhh Tabs is such a cutie pie!

I would love a gift card for my summer colors.

I wish I could have someone else wash my hair for me all the time 😀 I used to have a hairdresser who was a total pro at giving awesome head massages 😀

tABBYY must be super happy with this instant waterless bathing session! 🙂

Did you get it on line? Did Tabs lick it at all? I guess once the shampoo is dry, Tabs wouldn’t even bother? right?
Karen says
Hi Martha,
I picked it up from a Petco store, and I didn’t see Tabs lick himself once during or right after we used it. I got the sense that it’s mild and didn’t didn’t bother him at all.

I have been so curious about this one! We adopted a little Frenchton a month ago. We named him Fargo and he has become quite the addition to our family. He doesn’t mind a good bath (we use Paul Mitchell Puppy Shampoo), but he could use a more frequent freshening up. Especially in the paws and under his eyes. I wonder…would this work as well if it was applied to a washcloth for cleaning smaller areas?
Karen says
Hi Alison,
Fargo is such a cute name! About this dry shampoo, it seems very, very mild, as far as cleansing, so I’m not sure it would work well for heavy-duty pet cleaning, if Frenchton ever gets into a real mess. It’s probably more for light freshening up, and the bottle does say to keep it away from eyes and ears.
They also sell the wipes, which I haven’t tried yet, but I’m thinking about getting some for when Tabs gets covered in pollen. He does get allergies this time of year, where he coughs and sneezes, especially after we go for his walks.

How sweet that Tabs is. He gave me a badly needed smile today. We lost our Boston Terrier Charlotte very suddenly to a heart attack Sat. night. She was only 7. Her littermate Annabelle is like a fish out of water and so are we. Hug that husky tabby extra for us?

I’m so sorry for your loss, that’s so young, too.
Karen, I so need to pick this shampoo up for my (also very husky) tuxedoed feline employer.
Erin says
What a most excellent product! BTW Tabs I’m jealous of your tub!

I wonder if they sell this for the UK market because this might be just the thing for my big old orange tabby. He’s certainly never going to get in the bath but he needs a bit of cleaning – poor old, smelly thing!

I absolutely loved listening to the audio of Tabs’ pampering session. I was happy to hear that I’m not the only one who talks to my kitty in a falsetto voice. I also have a cat that answers me, when I speak to her. He is so fortunate to have such a devoted assistant!! As always, Tabs is looking quite paw-some….xoxoxo
Chelsea says
Might have to get this for the kittycat!

So adorable! Can listen to his purrs and meows all day! Kisses to my lovely, floofster of a nephew!

This was cute overload! I can’t believe how talkative Tabs is. You two were carrying on a long conversation. 🙂
