Must play with all the pretties!
Guess what these Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow + Built-In Primer quads do?
You guessed it — they combine a primer with a powder eyeshadow for supposedly extra long wear. I tried some of the Cocoa Mauve quad colors on my right eye yesterday, just to see how they looked and blended, and they were good on both counts, but then I took them off. I’ll give them a proper try this weekend.
And I’ll probably still wear ’em with a regular primer underneath anyway, because, you know, some habits are hard to break. 🙂
Overview
- There are six different quads/color combinations — Cool Plum, Soft Taupe, Smoky Steel, Cocoa Mauve, Mink Brown and Classic Nude — available now at drugstores and online for $9.49 each.
- Pigment ranges from sheer to medium, depending on the color
- The Cocoa Mauve and Classic Nude quad shadows have a satiny finish that’s very forgiving of mah fine lines (thank you very much).

Now that was a hard guess…
I wonder how effective a built-in primer can be? Isn’t the whole purpose to have a base the shadow sticks to?
But they do look pretty!

Revlon has done the same thing with their Primer, Sparkle + Shadow palettes. I think it’s just a bit gimmicky, to be honest. I’ll still apply primer regardless. That said, these swatches all look really good!

Happy Friday!
I’ll be interested to see how they hold up when you give them the full test run. My lids are like an oil slick without Pro Prime. Even the UD 24/7s don’t last more than a couple of hours. I think these pretties would end up a hot mess on me. 🙂

I too question how good a built in primer REALLY is-and what that means in terms of being formulated into a powder eyeshadow-like did they use a different type of binder to keep the pigments together? Or did they dump a vat of Too Faced Shadow Insurance in the mixture 😀

The way they swatch, though! Those colors look beautiful!

Cocoa Mauve looks very pretty! The formula sounds pretty interesting too. I’m curious to see how well the built in primer works

I’m with everyone else. They look great, but what is a bulit-in primer, and does it work? I like the sound of a plum palette, though.

Another vote for how lovely Cocoa Mauve looks. At that price I’m willing to give one or more of these a try.

The smoky grey colours look really great. I am keen to see the reviews. I think it is a big claim to say that the formula includes primer as there are many different skin types and one size does not fit all. Secondly the primer formula they use could set off a reaction for some people. It is just better to create a really good eyeshadow in the first place.
However the colours seemed to have swatched well and for the price it seems like a good deal.

Cocoa mauve looks great.. these palettes look vry much similar to wet n wild eye shadow quads and glad that the eye shadows are so well pigmented but not sure if oily lids can skip on primers while using these.. 😛

It’s a shame, they don’t sell their makeup in France.
