…Broadway! (on Broadway!)
It rained last night in Nashville, and it was quite a beautiful sight.
Here are just a few quick snapshots I took from the back of a cab. These are of downtown Nashville’s famous Broadway Street, which is lined with lots of restaurants and entertainment.
I’m back in the Bay again now, and no rain here at all. Air travel is so weird, isn’t it? One minute you’re in the rain, and the next you’re not.
Someday I hope to make it back to Nashville for a longer visit, ideally on a sunny day when I have more time to explore. From the short time I was there, it seemed like a very cool town.
I overheard a couple of people call it “Nash Vegas,” and it does kind of have that feel. I would’ve walked around downtown more, despite the rain, if I’d had a little more time and, um, didn’t have to worry about my blowout… But I’d just gotten my hair done earlier in the day by Neutrogena celebrity hair stylist Sam Leonardi (who is a very charming man, BTW), and I was not about to leave its fate to the rain, LOL!
Priorities, ya know? 🙂

You’re making me crave BBQ…
🙂
Karen says
Hi Jean!
Let’s go get some, LOL! I’ll have some bbq’d shrimp or fish. And of course all of the sides. 🙂

Hehe, NashVegas 😀 Here we have RotoVegas (Rotorua), Dorkland (Auckland) and The Tron (Hamilton – bills itself as the ‘City of the Future’). Hooray for making crazy city nicknames!
Karen says
Ha! Well of course now I want to visit Tron.

I love your slice-of-life posts, Karen! These photos are stunning. I’ve never been to Nashville, but I’d love to go. (I have driven through rural Tennessee, though: so much natural beauty!)
Karen says
Thank you! I hope you get to visit Nashville soon.

I just wanted to say that I love reading your blog and I hope everyone in Nashville treated you warmly while you were here. You’ll have to come back again soon!
People here call the East side of town “East Nasty” too. Did you get to eat any hot chicken?!
Karen says
Hi Angela!
Thank you for this lovely comment. 🙂 I thought everyone I met in Nashville was very warm and welcoming. It seems like a lovely town and I hope to come back soon and explore more.
LOL…I have no idea what hot chicken is!? Is it hot as in spicy?
Angela Martinez says
We would be happy to have you back anytime, love! Yes, hot chicken is super spicy. It’s what Nashville is known for: http://time.com/15504/how-hot-chicken-became-nashvilles-signature-dish/. It’s so good, it even made Gwyneth give up her macrobiotic diet when she was here. Ha! http://goop.com/journal/go/74/nashville

I just wanted to chime in that one of my longest-known besties lives in NashVegas and I’ve visited many times and it’s always a great experience! Really warm people, TONS of entertainment and food options, and just a really vibrant and fun place! I’m so glad you got to see it first-hand!
