We did so much sightseeing this past weekend while my in-laws were visiting that my feet are still sore. It was a lot of fun, though, and the weather was nice, so we hit up all the usual spots in our area — Napa and some of the little towns up there in Wine Country — and some of the towns closer to where we live in Marin County, like Sausalito, Fairfax and Corte Madera. Of course, I couldn’t let them leave town without also taking them to HomeGoods.
LOL! They don’t have one up where they live in Redding, and my mom-in-law loves tchotchkes, so it was necessary. 🙂
The moment she walked through the doors, I swear, her eyes lit up like it was Christmas morning (a feeling I know well)!
And I figured, you know, since we were already there…I’d pick up a few things too — things I “needed” (airquotes). I grabbed a set of three nested mixing bowls by Cuisinart, because the mixing bowl I’ve been using isn’t really a mixing bowl at all; it’s a huge popcorn bowl, and it’s kind of awkward and doesn’t have a spout.
I also grabbed an OXO pantry organizer…
Have you seen these? They’re clear airtight containers that come in different sizes for storing dry goods in your pantry. I got a big one a few weeks ago to store my oatmeal, and now I’m obsessed with the idea of having a completely organized cupboard stocked with them.
Lastly, this indoor gardening globe by Natura! I got it because I recently treated my office to the gift of an air plant, and I think the globe will make a nice home for it.
How about you? Did you do any shopping last weekend? Inquiring minds want to know.

I love the globe! Air plants are fun. I had a glass globe I found super cheap at value village that I made a terrarium in.
This weekend I went to the clarins outlet. Such great prices! I bought a set of 3 of the instant light lip perfectors for $30!

First of all I love HomeGoods/TJMaxx! I looked like a crazy person the other day when I was in there carrying around sandals, knobs for a dresser, a scarf, hemp hearts for smoothies, and dried persimmons. I don’t allow myself to use a cart because I would just fill it up! Secondly, I too became obsessed with transferring my baking supplies (sugar, flour, oatmeal, etc) into airtight containers after we had a bug scare at work (I won’t name the business but just google “pantry moth” and you’ll know what I mean) so I went to Walmart and got a half dozen giant mason jars and transferred over all of my dry goods, it looks really cute too! Thirdly I think it was online at urban outfitters that I saw a “grow your own cat kit” and it was in a gardening globe like you bought, it made me laugh out loud!

I could live in Homegoods – hope you continue to post your little finds here on the Blog. I’m always looking for inspiration.

home goods and ulta are in the same shopping area where I live….less than 10 minutes away! You can imagine how hard it is to be good…
I bought a few thingies for my makeup bag… Nars blush and Laura Mercier hydration primer. And…I must be good! No more shopping!

That’s like my platonoic ideal, having a fully organised pantry. It’s held back somewhat by my family seeming to just pitch items into different cabinets. Lol.

Looks like you’ve been getting lotsa kitchen goodies lately! Nice haul again 🙂

Oooh I love Home Goods. And I didn’t do any shopping last weekend 🙁
Love the bowl for your air plant, my husband is fascinated by those. I think I need to get him one.

There is a Homegoods/TJ Maxx AND a Target located directly across the street from my home so I’m always popping in after work browsing the aisles. Recently I picked up some drawer organizers for my makeup brushes. I unfortunately found one sad lonely brush in the middle of my hallway half chewed so I can no longer keep them out on my vanity. I think it’s the newbie (we just adopted a new kitty) because up until then they were untouched. Also I think it may be more hygienic since dust and debris always end up collecting on the bristles.

I can’t wait to see the air plant, since I don’t understand what it is, and I have plants that need repotting myself. I do LOVE the OXO storage containers. I have one for flour and one for sugar and it’s so much easier than keeping them in their bags. My roommate used to close up flour bags in a plastic garbage bag and I could not STAND it. Now it’s nicely put away and airtight! I wish I had the disposable income to pick up more!

I LOVE Home Goods! I always walk out with a bunch of kitchen items, I can never stop myself 😀

In Canada we have Home Sense which I think is the same. I ordered something from UO online for $30 and it was broken when I got it. Just saw it last night for $13 at Home Sense so got 2! I haven’t been in a while. At Christmas the unit above me had a leak while I was away and finally all the repairs and home renos are done so now I basically have a brand new condo to decorate!!! The next few months are going to be dangerous…
Karen this blog is my favourite for beauty so whenever you post home stuff, I love it even more even though my wallet really doesn’t! Thanks for all the great ideas, tips and reviews. Keep it coming

I went there last weekend too. 🙂 I picked up oven mitts, martini glasses, doggie poop bags in bulk, and snacks. Lemon-flavored almonds. Soooo good! I was tempted on so much more (chili dipping oil, powdered matcha smoothie mix om noms) and I had to be pried out of the food aisle. >_>

I’m the same as Carolyn, up in Canada with our version which is Home Sense. I absolutely love going there. I tend to walk to one which is about 10 mins away from where I work. I guess it’s good that I only have an hour for lunch otherwise I could stay in there a while and start thinking of random excuses for all the unnecessary/necessary items I need/want! I love the food aisle and the neat little things they have in the impulse section leading to the cashiers! They get me every time!
I bought a couple of tops from Express last week when they had the 40% off sale. I ended up also getting an online only top as well which seemed like a fabulous idea at the time until I checked my online banking to see that the conversion made it that much more expensive 🙁 *Le sigh*

I am on the same pantry-organizing mission, Karen! I bought a couple of OXO containers recently, and I’m obsessed. Last week, I bought a 5-container set on Amazon, and my pantry is looking more organized than it ever has.
I baked cupcakes last weekend, and I learned that I need a set of mixing bowls (I’ve been using a huge popcorn bowl, too) so I’ll have to visit my Home Goods store soon.

I bought some things at Gap, LOFT, and Ann Taylor. Sadly the Gap purchases are things I’m not happy with at all. LOFT has me so excited because I got shorts that are longer. They are almost long enough to be work appropriate! (go over the knee if I unroll them).
So here’s the issue with Gap. I got a tank top that has a base tank sewn in. It’s meant to be used as a workout tank. The bottom tank fits horribly. It does not sit flat and the bra inserts are horrible. The thong panties are bad as well due to the tags. The tags are gigantic and if you cut them out they itch like crazy. I hate having to make returns at Gap and it’s online so we’ll see how that goes.
Hooray for Ann Taylor (work shirt) and LOFT for shorts though!

I have looked at those bowls a million times at HomeGoods, and I always leave without them because I have old, plain white melamine bowls with pour spouts and the rubber gasket on the bottom that stops them from moving around. The Cuisinart colored bowls are so much cuter! Maybe next time 🙂

Just shopped for childrens clothes. It is amazing how fast they grow out of stuff!

Oh I have the same bowls and I love them !

I work at HomeGoods. It is a great place to find wonderful things for the house. My problem with customers is that they think they should be able to return merchandise from Tj Maxx and Marshalls. We are the same company not the same store. I work at a stand alone store. Customers don’t seem to grasp that concept. Stop arguing with the associates and insisting we take back merchandise because you are too lazy to take it back to the correct store. Get over yourselves.
