Pretty Packaging Alert! Makeup From the Japonesque Color Collection

Published in: Daily Photo

Japonesque Color Collection

Three pieces from the Japonesque Color Collection, available now at Ulta

Countdown to Christmas! Only four more days, and I have yet to wrap a single gift.

I know!

FYI, your nephew Tabs is not happy about it at all. He asked Santa for an L.V. cat carrier this year and expected to open it early.

Cranky Tabby!

Speaking of pretty packaging, aren’t these permanent pieces from the Japonesque Color Collection pretty? They look like pigmented watercolors. Very Shu Umerua meets Monet.

Just add ribbon and voila! They’re ready to gift (or, ya know, keep).

A few thoughts…

  • Velvet Touch Finishing Powder: Really holds the shine at bay, but I think it might look chalky on darker skin tones.
  • Eye Shadow Duo in Shade 01: Very, very sheer… We’re talking almost nothing there.
  • Lip Lacquer in Shade 01: Hello, pigment! This one smells and tastes like buttercream, yum! Too bad it’s also pretty drying.

You can find the entire Japonesque Color Collection now at Ulta stores and ulta.com.

We don’t get Japonesque here, I don’t think :-( It’s a shame about some of the sheerness/dryness, but you do have to hand it to them for the packaging!

(Also points for things that smell like buttercream…mmm)

The packaging is so pretty, and doesn’t look like it wastes any space. Love the outer boxes, too. I haven’t tried any Japonesque yet!

soooooo pretty! the brand & colours caught my attention, but your opinions/experience make me not want to even try these out :( i mean, i know ulta had an awesome return policy, but i’ll save myself the fuel.

i have been curious about this brand. as i check out the ecotools and real techniques brushes, these always catch my attention due to their price point. i bought a few Real Techniques brushes. I’m pretty satisfied with the quality and price. :) might return the UD brush i bought on a sephora whim.

  5. I love this packaging and have heard wonderful things about this range! Xx

They are gorgeous! But too bad they don’t have much of a color pay-off. I love how they look in your swatches. Japonesque is a brand I’m not familiar with. I’ll have to look up where to buy them

So much MBB to catch up on! Busy week, commencement was today, so it’s time to finish Christmas shopping and read my blogs!

This packaging is gorgeous! I’ve never used anything Japonesque, but I see their brushes at Ulta all the time. I’m heading there tomorrow – my mom wears almost no makeup, and is applying for jobs, so wants to look a little polished. Plus I have a coupon!

Just an FYI – checked at my Ulta last week for japonesque, and was told that not all stores would be carrying it. mine would be one of those that would not. Major disappointment… :( there are a couple more stores not too far away so will check out those.
