I was kind of having a mini-meltdown this morning. I didn’t sleep well at all last night (I’ve started getting into Audible audio books and, anyway, long story), and the neurons just weren’t firing, so after struggling for two hours to string two coherent sentences together, I said, “Screw this! I need a break.”
So I drove a mile down the street to the Indian Valley Open Space Preserve, where I go sometimes when I’m feeling overwhelmed.
It’s awful perty out there…
I was only there for 10 minutes, but dang if those 10 minutes didn’t really help. I recorded this little audio clip with my phone. This is how the preserve sounds…
I would love to be able to take Tabs there for walks, but people take their dogs there, too, and I wouldn’t want to risk an off-leash run-in.
It’s so funny… Tabs thinks he’s a tough little lion, but he so could not hang on the preserve at night. We have lots of coyotes here, bobcats, raccoons and possibly black bears and mountain lions.
He’d be like, “Hey, guys, how’s everyone doing?” And they’d be looking at him like a plump snack.
I bet the folks in that house up there have a REALLY nice view…

Beautiful area, beautiful day! It’s funny how 10 minutes outside in a sunny, pretty, and relaxing spot can totally redirect the day.
