Tabs decided that he needed some personal time away from his day-to-day wait staff, so he kicked El Hub and I out of the condo for a few days and hired his favorite petsitter.
Having the time off, El Hub and I drove here to Lake Tahoe, which is about three hours east of the Bay Area.
I still haven’t found Michael Corleone’s house (remember The Godfather: Part II?), but I have been looking… 🙂
But seriously, we got here around one in the afternoon and grabbed lunch on the water at Riva Grill.
It’s a bit on the temperate side here (upper 60s). I’ve been in long pants and sweaters all day, but it’s been sunny and beautiful.
After lunch, we hung out at the beach for a bit, and yup, the water was hella cold, LOL!
I did bring my wetsuit, though, just in case we attempt any water sports (stand up paddle, perhaps?) tomorrow.
I’m up for it, but El Hub (big baby) always falls in the water. 🙂 He might wait on shore for me this time, unless I can bribe him with chocolate.
We spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out at the pool and reading. I’m halfway through Cassandra Clare’s Clockwork Prince, which is the second book in the Infernal Devices trilogy.
I’m enjoying it so far… It’s hard to go wrong with supernatural teens and a love triangle.
What are you reading these days?

Have a blast Karen! We visited Lake Tahoe last year (from Australia) and it is almost my favourite place. Definitely go to Sand Harbor, so beautiful. We ate at Riva Grill most nights because it was really close to our accommodation, such a pretty place to sit and have a drink. And yum! Wishing I could go back immediately!
PS. Emerald Bay is gorgeous too!
PPS. I wanted to visit Lake Tahoe because it is supposedly where the cabin Back of the Moon is in the movie Leave Her to Heaven (I chose to ignore that it wasn’t actually filmed there!).
PPPS. Please stop enabling. My wallet can’t handle it! 😀 I read your reviews at work and then get annoyed because I can’t go out immediately and purchase the pretties!

oooh road trip! i always like reading about your travels karen. yummy food and some sights, plus a peek at your fashion style, what’s not to love.
btw, swimming in the COLD water burns a lot of calories. 😀
i used to swim in the ocean without wetsuit in the new england area up to october, with people in sweaters up to their neck (and their dog) looking on at the crazy brown girl. refreshing workout, though.

Have fun Karen! I recommend Chanel Bonfire for your next read. It’s a woman’s account of her crazy childhood and growing up with a boozing, pill popping, suicidal, shrew of a mother. They moved like 10 times in 12 years, and the fact based account of her and her sisters upbringing is riveting. Easy read, perfect for by the pool. Get it!

My friend from college used to go to Lake Tahoe for Work&Travel program and she loved it there. She actually worked at a casino and that’s where she met her husband 🙂 I heard a lot of stories about this place. Enjoy your vacation!

You make me laugh so hard. I think the finger was in response to someone asking “who’s the only person at the beach in a leather jacket instead of a bathing suit?”. HAHA! Btw, I don’t blame you a bit. 60s are not prime swimming temps! 🙂

I just love Tahoe! It’s one of my favorite places on earth, especially in summer. 🙂 Hope you had fun! I just finished up The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness. It’s the final in her All Souls trilogy and was absolutely fantastic. She’s a UCLA professor who writes for fun, and the books are a great blend of history and fantasy. I bet you’ll like, since you like True Blood and Game of Thrones!
