Whenever I walk by these flowers, which are just outside my door in our little cul-de-sac circle, I want to LEAP into the air like a bird with my arms outstretched and my toes pointed! (Like how Baby jumps into Johnny’s arms in the final scene of Dirty Dancing.)
These are my neighbor’s freesia flowers, and yes, I’m that weirdo in the neighborhood who gets all up in your garden when you’re not around and takes pictures of yo’ blooms.
I wish there was a way to implement scratch ‘n sniff with the computer screen, because these smell amazing!
Flower for your thoughts…
These pink flowers (wish I knew what they were, especially the hot pink ones) are also blooming…
…and happen to match my pants. 🙂

Karen says
Hi Lisa,
Oh, this?
A Walking Dead Walk-On! See You in Season 5!
Notice the date of the post… 🙂
Have a good one today!
Lisa says

The pink flowers are azaleas… as for the freesias, oh, they are my favourite flowers ever! I was in Windsor a week ago and saw freesias in so many gardens! It’s just one more thing that I love about northern California!
Kirsten says
I want to say that the hot pink one is an azalea, but I’m not sure. Maybe you can strike up a conversation with your neighbor and ask?
Karen says
Hi Kirsten,
I most certainly will if when I get the chance. It’s not my next-door neighbor though. It’s a few houses down from ours, but I’ve been milling about in the area looking at the flowers, so hopefully someone notices me and comes outside to chat.
How’s your week going so far?
Kirsten says
My week has been pretty good! I am not looking forward to next week though, because I will have to start thinking about things like income taxes, looking for work and pressing a company that hasn’t paid me in 6 weeks for some freelance work, and other adult things like that. But this week I’m ignoring them! 😀
Becca M says
I was coming to say I thought it was an azalea, but I see Kirsten beat me to it. So I agree, it looks like an azalea! 🙂

Oh I loves me some freesia, they smell so good. And I don’t have a ton of neighbors because we’re in such a rural area but I’m always stopping at random houses to harass people about their gardens 🙂 I figure if they’re gardeners, they can’t be psychopaths, right?
Tatiana says
Thanks for the beautiful spring flower pictures! Freesia do smell wonderful!! I have to agree with everyone else, the hot pink flowers in the last photo look like azaleas to me.
Ruchita says
What gorgeous flowers! I actually had no idea what a Freesia looked like. 🙂 I just remember having the scented lotion from Bath and Body Works back in the day. I bet the real thing smells amazing!
Erin says
Fresh Freesia always smells so good. I’m the weirdo in Trader Joes doing the same thing!
Talkerblogger says
Gosh I love the Spring colors !! Isn’t it time for some brights already
Natalye says
those are so beautiful! I think I might plant some in my garden
Jen L says
I also love the smell of Freesia – it’s like floral kool-aid, so sweet!
I am in Saskatchewan and although it’s melting, there is still a lot of snow so I am JEALOUS if that’s your yard right now!
Majick says
Wow, so that’s what a freesia looks like? I’ve planted them several times in the past and never had any luck with them.
YES – AZALEAS! We have them in our yard, they are amazing in the spring. I can’t wait for the snow to be GONE. We have some flowers popping their heads up but NJ is way behind in flower growth this year.
If you’re ever in NJ in the summer, look me up and you can come over to check out our garden and ponds. 😀
Karen says
I would love that, Majick! I’ll bring my camera and take pics of your garden. 🙂
Lulubelle says
I live in Azalea City (not kidding, that’s the nickname for Mobile, AL) and indeed, the hot pink one is an azalea. We have the Azalea Trail run, Azalea Trail maids, and my mom lives on Azalea Rd. I dare you to Google Azalea City and see all the stuff that comes up:-) It’s beautiful here in March when they all start blooming.

Gorgeous! The lighter pink flowers, 9th pic down, (above your pants!), could also be a type of hydrangea. Most people think they’re always the great big blue or purple kind, but there are actually many sizes and colors of hydrangea found all over the world.

They brightened up my morning!! 🙂 ..
