Aww, I hate it when things that aren’t supposed to be done to animals are done to animals. Dogs love being put on a leash and walked with their beloved parents, but how humiliating do you think it must be for a far more dignified cat to be put on a leash and told to stay?
This reminds me of Dogblog one of my all time favorite blogs! He just takes pictures of dogs tied up outside of restaurants and stores in SF, rather than cats, like you 🙂
Have to agree with the above! your phots are fab! Poor kitty though! Ahh,… at least hopefully she was happy she got to take a walk! 🙂

Ah, poor kitty! Why do they want to put a cat on leash? Cats don’t walk like dogs, anyways.

Interesting. I was thinking of getting one for Tabs when we moved. I feel very guilty about taking away his freedom, so I hoping that maybe taking him out on a leash on a patch of grass or something outside would help ease the transition. Was it difficult to get the harness on your kitty?
My old cat was an outdoors one, so he didn’t like anything that interfered with his prowling the hood. But if Tabs is indoorsy, he might not mind it so much. Maybe you could let him look out the window for the first week so he can ease into his new home first.
Haha, that’s too funny! I bought a harness for my kitty, Lao Tzu, and he doesn’t mind the harness so much as he doesn’t like going outside. Normally, we can make it to the bottom of the steps, but I’m not allowed to put him down, and we can’t go out of sight of the front door or he starts to howl like he’s being murdered. He’s really good at car rides though 🙂

Hi Karen, funny you mention Mac! I’m a designer, LOVE LOVE LOVE packaging, and recently I designed a website for a makeup artist. Well, as a thank you bonus she took me on a shopping spree to MAC!! I got an entire “wardrobe” there, and I have to say I’m in love with the line, too. Although…after reading your notes on different product, I’m starting to look at other brands as well.
Do you not just LOVE Sephora?? I could live there. It’s like my Neverland. LOL!
Awww…this kitty has puppy eyes…(I was at a whole food market one day and there was a big dog outside the store leashed like this, he look exactly like a panda…In fact I thought some once was leaving a panda outside because of those no-animal in store policy.)
the other day i tried to put a collar on cha cha and he went nuts. i felt bad and took it off… i can only imagine how angry this cat is!

Oh I tried that. My kitteh HATED it. If she saw me coming with the leash and harness she’d hide lickity split. Finally I just let her walk along with me in the backyard and near the house (she’s an indoor cat– I’m not down with “free roaming”). Completely untetherred she loves exploring around, pissing in my plants (no!), nibbling on the “safe” ones. And really? If you work it right, all you need is a certain tone of voice and a clap and your can will know it’s time to bounce back to the crib. No harness required.
More impressive? I’ve got a neighbor that walks her cat and small dog in the nearby park, completely unleashed. They play fight and chase in the grass. It’s really kinda beautiful.
Awwww!! Super cute!! I wish I could bring my little guy out- no one allows cats. On the upside he’s leash trained (I used to take him to the park for walks back in PA all the time). It took a lot of time, patience, etc to train him but because I started when he was a baby it made things a tad easier. Things changed when I moved back to the city though. :-\ No where safe to walk him around here.

Karen says
Hi Yadi,
LOL, that’s because I only show the pics where he doesn’t look cranky. Trust me, Tabs is really great at giving salty looks.

Karen, LOVE your site, just found it yesterday and saved the RSS on my mac – I’ve become as addicted to it as I am to product!
Love this pic – he does look pissed. Would make a great pic for lolcats! 😀

Hi Elaine,
It’s nice to meet you! I’m glad you like the site. 🙂 What are your favorite makeup brands? I have a weakness for MAC, myself. 🙂

When we had a cat we tried to put it on a harness & leash & it tried to strangle itself to get out of them.
Karen says
Hi Cloudburst,
I was thinking about getting one for Tabs when we moved. I dunno… I have a feeling it’s just going to make him grumpy.

What a beautiful kitty! I’d name him Simba. Btw, cats on leashes don’t work at all. I tried walking my cat ages ago, but he ended up walking me!
