Not quite the next best thing to actually going surfing (but it’s close!), creamy blue Essie Pret-A-Surfer looks right at home amidst the ocean of cats on my blue shirt. 🙂
This summery $8.50 marine blue is from the new Essie Summer 2015 Collection, and you can find it now online and at salons, beauty stores, Nordstrom and Ulta.
Le sigh… What I wouldn’t give for a longboard, gently rolling (3-foot) waves and warm tropical waters right now…
Wait — I just realized that I can’t even remember the last time I went surfing or, for that matter, the last time I was in a large body of water.
Survey says: That needs to stop.
I wish the weather here would finally warm up already. We’re still wearing sweaters here in Novato, which is weird for this part of California in June. My inner tropical surfer girl wants more sun and temps in the mid-80s. 🙂
Anywho, I quite love this shade of blue (it’s a little moodier than bright) and only partly because it goes so well with the cat shirt I’m wearing.
Speaking of the shirt, don’t you love it? My BFF Jen got it for me a ways back. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s still available.
The last time I wore Pret-A-Surfer, I wore it without a base or top coat (1. because I’m lazy, and 2. because I change my polish A LOT). Even without a base or top coat, though, it holds up well. I started seeing small chips on the fourth day, so it’s pretty sturdy stuff.
What are you wearing on your paws on this most terrific of Tuesdays, my friend? Inquiring tabbies and their loyal assistants would like to know. 🙂

What a coincidence – I’m wearing Pret-A-Surfer right now! I absolutely love it … I think it’s one of my favorite manicures ever. It would be perfect on the toes, too.

I’m wearing China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy. It’s a neon coral pink and it’s brightening up this gloomy, 45 degree, rainy Boston day!

I am wearing Essie Aruba blue on my nails.

Great timing, I’ve actually been looking for nail polish recommendations :). I very very rarely paint my nails – mostly because I get too lazy to take it off when it starts to chip. But I’m now in the mood to just get with it and pretty up my nails already!

What a pretty color! I love blue polish on other people. On my hands it looks like my circulation was cut off, so I tend to stick to pinks, reds and corals. Boring, I know.
Just last night we were discussing how it has been forever since we’ve been to Hawaii. I prefer the cool weather we’ve been having as long as I can go somewhere warmer every now and then. I suspect it will be much hotter by the end of summer.

I love that periwinkle shade! It’s among my faves. Got one from Ciate that I should dig out. And that shirt with the kitties, oh

I’m really feeling blue polish this week. I painted my nails just the other day in that gorgeous cobalt that Urban Decay released last summer, I believe? I don’t remember the name of it. Anyway, I also added some silver glitter topcoat to my ring fingers for some added sparkle.
Kiss & Make-up says
What a pretty shade of blue! I’m usually not that into blue. I am wearing silver with gold sparkle on top today.

Awwww! your BFF knows the way to a cat lady’s heart! Your new essie polish looks perfect with that print. I love creamy, slightly greyed out blues like that. today I am wearing an old standby, OPI Teenage Dream. Neutral glitter is good when I have a busy week and can’t take time to change the polish as much as I want. I should get a few days wear from it. Happy Monday! PS I am anxiously awaiting your posts on the new UD Naked palette. The sneak peeks have me drooling with excitement!

I went to a wedding this past weekend and I’m still wearing Butter London Champers on my tips 🙂

Love the shirt!
That shade of blue is also lovely on toes. 🙂

Such a pretty blue! For once I’m not wearing a red or pink, but CND’s Vinylux in Powder My Nose. I’m obsessed with this polish line, every color I’ve tried so far has been a great formula and the brush is just the right size – plus you’re not supposed to use basecoat! 🙂 And that’s all besides the whole lasting a week thing (for me it’s more like 5 days before any major chipping, but I’m pretty hard on my hands).

I love that polish Karen! Essie has become my favorite nail polish brand as of late. Currently I am rocking Pop Beauty’s “Flamingo Hollar” with a glitter accent nail which has Essie “Beyond Cozy” I usually don’t do accent nails at all because my ocd goes into overdrive, but I decided to do something different and I am happy I did

I’m wearing CND Vinylux Gilded Pleasure. I just ordered a bunch of Essie polish, so I’m happy to read that it lasts several days. I LOVE this color.
Stephanie says
How do you store your nail polish? I’ve seen those acrylic holders, but I don’t want that. I’d like to be able to store them in a cabinet or something, out of the way.
Jenny says
That kitty cat shirt is so cute and perfect for this nail polish color! I love Essie polishes. You know they’re going to be good! I hope warmer weather comes your way soon! xx
Christine says
I have that shirt too and love it! I’ll have to try matching my nails to it.

Essie definitely does their blues right. My second favourite blue is Bikini So Teeny and then Aruba Blue because it screams “I am Wonder Woman!”
Wearing Victoria Beckham for Nails Inc in Bamboo White and I have to say I’m pretty happy with its performance.

Just took off Urban Decay’s Mrs. Mia Wallace. Oddly enough I was thinking of going with a blue similar to yours. It’s Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Royal Rage. However I think it’s just slightly deeper than Pret-A-Surfer.

I’m actually planning a trip to the nail salon soon and recently spotted an Essie blue that I loved. It’s a light sky blue. I don’t know the name but I saw someone with it at the salon one day and I made a note to try it. Your mani makes me want it even more! That blue looks really good on you and I like how it matches your cat shirt. Too cute!

I can picture that Pret-a-Surfer with a thin line of white polish towards the tip.
I’m wearing Sephora’s Brazen and on four of my fingers, I’ve made my first rather successful attempt at using striping tape to make silver geometric designs.
I don’t even want to hear weather complaints. It was in the 30’s on the Maine coast last night and will be in the 30’s again tonight. I had to put my wool sweaters back again.

I love the color, but unfortunately I don’t believe Essie is cruelty-free. I usually stick with Zoya for that reason. Blues are some of my favorite mani/pedi shades.
