I have a small garden on my living room deck, and most years, I just grow stuff for Tabs to eat (catnip, echinacea, cat grass and zinnia flowers), but this summer I decided to add some veggies and fruit (tomatoes are technically a fruit… I really enjoyed upper division botany.).
The cherry tomato plant is taking off! There must be 50 tiny tomatoes on it as we speak.
Yum! I think I’ll make a lemon fusilli and tomato pasta salad.
I also planted an early girl tomato plant, and it’s coming along, too. Slowly but surely. Only one lonely ripe tomato so far… Hurry up, early girl!
The snap peas and spinach are also well on their way…
Last, but not least, basil! There’s one healthy plant on my deck and one in my kitchen that I got from Trader Joe’s. I see pesto in my future. 🙂
How about you? Do you do much gardening? Do you have any suggestions for getting rid of whiteflies? They’re going to town on Tabs’ catnip!

I can’t wait to have a garden again! I had an herb garden before we moved, but when we move again there will be berries and veggies and herbs. Oh my!

Oooh I love gardens! My mum has one and o may gee so many veggies, it’s so good fresh. I like the radish on sinigang hehe. She also redid the whole backyard and put bricks and flowers in the front yard. Sometimes butterflies come and visit.

Love it! Down in the southern hemisphere it’s winter in Australia, but our winter veggies are coming along well, and we had a bumper crop of mega-sized apples this year! As for white flies on catnip, best I can think of is just to blast them away with a hose, especially if gorgeous Tabs is going to be rolling around in the ‘nip. We use Pyrethrum spray, but I’m not sure if it’s kitty-safe.

I really want to grow cherry tomatoes and basil outside of living room window, but there’s a lot of lizards, roaches and creepy crawly things (more than normal) and I don’t my veggies dying :/ Your veggies look great though!

That is such a great picture of the tiny tomatoes! I just moved and I think it’s to late for me to plant anything. Next year I will definitely have an herb garden though! I can smell the basil already…

Gardening is all the rage at our house. Especially love growing roses and vegetables. It is so rewarding! We have a razed rose garden outside of our bedroom window and the perfume that floats in is heavenly. That “Early Girl” tomato variety you are growing is one of our favorites–it’s early(duh), fairly disease resistant and produces really tasty fruit.

you have the filipino green thumb! yay, you! i haven’t attempted to grow anything. when i first moved in with The Man, i brought a money tree, but it died (is that bad luck?). i think it grew mold in the pot. 🙁 after that, i gave up. He had a bamboo plant that he managed to keep alive the whole time he has lived in marysville. it managed 3 years, but as soon as he deployed, it started to die. 🙁 i think plants don’t like me.
i’d like more plants in the apt., but it attracts gnats, and tiny flying bugs. and we have cockroaches in the desert, so i think the moisture will attract those things, even more. 🙁 i’d like to have a patio garden, but the cockroaches are out there, also. there’s no winning over here. 🙁
my dad has a lovely back yard. he has so many trees! persimmon, japanese pear (or is it apple?), orange, fig. he has a calamansi plant that i love, because there are few seeds in the fruit. grapes, vegetables. *sigh* i wish i could keep plants alive. LoL
hope your garden comes up soon! looking forward to photos! have a lovely sunday!

Hey! Congrats!! Everything looks great and I’m totally jealous of your ripe tomatoes. 🙂
I have about 20 big, green ones so far and I can’t wait until they start to turn. I was just commenting yesterday that we have about 100 Macintosh apples and 100 pears on our trees this year, too. If the birds and squirrels leave us anything, I have a feeling we’ll be eating a lot of pear/apple crisp!

Love your garden! Did you grow your spinach from seeds? They look delish. We planted Black Prince tomatoes thie year and they are amazing. They are the color of a bruise – blackish purple with tinges of green – but, taste so sweet.
