Food pics!
Never can have too many food pics in this day and age.
OK, well, you can but… Sorry! I can’t help it. 🙂
Here’s what I had for brunch in San Francisco last Saturday with my little brother. I hadn’t seen him in a couple months, so I drove out to his neighborhood in SF to meet him at a place called Serpentine.
One of the reasons I picked the place was because they take brunch reservations, and a lot of places in SF don’t, and you have to wait.
But rezzies make it so much easier! My tummy and I have little to no patience for waiting in the morning…
Parking is also easy in that area. The restaurant is located in the Dogpatch neighborhood of Portrero Hill, and there’s plenty of street parking around the restaurant. It’s pretty flat, so you don’t have to haul your cookies up any steep hills or do any tricky parking.
Hey, these are the kinds of things you have to think about when you go to brunch in SF, and I don’t need any drama with my coffee and pancakes, thank you very much.
Speaking of pancakes, the buckwheat pancakes at this place are DIVINE. Like your eyes rolling to the back of your head — that’s how delicious.
Actually, I couldn’t decide between the pancakes and the huevos rancheros…so I ordered both. 🙂 LOL!
Yes, I am the girl who places two orders at brunch. Really, stuff like this is the only reason I run. I don’t like having to choose between savory and sweet. I want both.
My brother and El Hub, unlike me, chose to show some restraint. My bro ordered the chicken fried steak with cornbread…
…and El Hub got the eggs/meat/potato combo.
All three of us were very happy with our meals. Great service, too.
You know the deal. If you’re ever out that way in the city, I highly recommend Serpentine in SF.
Oh, and if you want to go for Sunday brunch, though, better make a reservation sooner than later. The place isn’t very big inside, and it fills up quickly. Maybe book ahead a few weeks or a month.
Highly recommended!

my friend jaynie and i have been known to order two breakfasts each. or two lunches. or dinners. definitely desserts. it just means yummy leftovers, or that there’s stuff to share (and sharing is always fun). and for my husband and me, my entree is also your entree. sometimes meals are like lipsticks…can’t stop at just one. =)

I once reordered my dinner a second time because I was still hungry, so I’d have too breakfasts/lunches too, no problem!! 🙂 I would always go for the pancakes though, aw yesh.

All the food looks so delicious! I would totally order two things at brunch. I like to have a bit of sweet and savory with my meal. 🙂

Do they deliver to Texas? By the way, I just had to let you know I LOVE ModCloth.

I’d have the pancakes twice. One stack is never enough.

Those huevos rancheros…WOW!!!!!!!!
You are just like me. if I can’t choose which one of something to get, I just get both.

You’re right – there cannot be too many food pics. 🙂 Your brunch looks divine and I’m glad you got both. I hate leaving a restaurant thinking, “I should have had the _______”. As you know, eating is also the reason I run (actually, in my case, it’s unhealthy food/drink choices and OVEReating). HAHA!

Wow, looks yummy! We’ve been looking for new restaurants to try in The City. If I tried to order two of anything at a restaurant my DH would give me such terrible looks and start in with the “Do you really want two? Why don’t you order one and if you’re still hungry you can order more? Wouldn’t you rather split something with me?” All not so subtle ways of him telling me I eat too much. Just once, I’d like to be able to order my own food without having to share it with him. This is why I like going out to eat with my girlfriends. They don’t judge!

You have discovered one of my favorite corners of SF! I have such wonderful memories of hanging out with my favorite people in that neighborhood(my kids- can’t leave home without them. and my sister the foodie who loves visiting SF). Next time you are there, don’t miss the ice cream across the street. Mr and Mrs Miscellaneous are two of the kindest and smartest foodie entrepeneurs you’ll ever come across. Sign up on the FB page to find out the latest flavor creations. People talk about the ice cream wars in SF but to me there is no contest. Mr and Mrs is the winner! On the other side of the street there is Just for You(beignets!!! did I mention Beignets the size of a small plate???) and Hard Knox. Delicious!

you are making me to hungry! I got to go to SF twice last year for work, but I didn’t know about Serpentine. The food looks fantastic. And I’ve never been to that neighborhood. Oh someday, hopefully soon. So glad you ordered two breakfasts, you go girl!

I like your double entree ordering style. All of it looks amazing!

I’m not sure I could say “chicken fried” anything is showing restraint 😛
