There’s a street in the neighborhood where my parents live that goes crazy all-out with the lights (Vegas style), and everybody cruises up and down the street looking at them.
This was my favorite house…
Of course I’d love the over-the-top one. 🙂
I know you’re honnngray looking at these pics, ’cause I’m hungry too (if you like crab and shrimp, and Filipino food, which I do). This time of the year is when I unshackle myself from the hater that is the My Fitness Pal app, aka calorie counting, and embrace my stretchy pants with arms (and mouth) wide open, which, in other words, means a second and third helping of crab.
Let the holiday gorging begin!
Efrain says
Oh my god, aren’t they afraid of a short-circuit?
That food looks extremely delicious, if you can post the recipes.
Karen says
Hi Efrain,
Are you feeling better today? I hope so.
So, I have a recipe for the lumpia (the Filipino version of an egg roll) at my home. I will make a note to post it!
Efrain says
I feel better, thanks; I’m going to see the gastroenterologist on Monday but I feel a lot better than on Christmas’ Eve.
I’d be awesome if you post the recipe I’m looking forward of it.
Debra says
Yup, that extrava-Santa-ganza sure beats the blue-lighted Abominable Snow Monster up the street from me!
All I see in that caloric spread (!) are good proteins, power carbs & excellent trace minerals. Of course, I justify cheesecake as calcium-enriched.
f you could post a good egg roll or whatever-wrap recipe — New Year’s Eve is coming fast!
Karen says
Hi Debra!
Those are the Filipino version of egg rolls — we call them “lumpia.” I think I have a recipe at home (I’m at my in-laws’ house). I’ll make a note to dig it up and send it to you when I get home. 🙂

Joyful Christmas to you Karen!
The food looks delish. I can smell it.
Jessica says
Your food looked so good I had to pin it on Pinterest! We had shrimp and crab for Christmas too! I could probably eat 4 whole crabs by myself D:
I’ve never seen dungeness crab cut in half like that! How was it done? With some crazy cleaver skills?
tirurit says
Oh my! Here if you see a house or an appartment with a string of lights on their terrace it already feels extravagant!
Eat all the crab! I would have to check but I could swear that seafood is quite healthy (if we do not consider colesterol though hehe). We had a “crema de marisco” as a starter at home and it was absolutely delicious. So much flavour in there! There is though a traditional dish that we have not eaten since my grandma died as she was the one to cook it. *sigh* And if you eat it at a restaurant it never is as good. Alas!
May says
OMG!!! LUMPIA!!! *drool* Send some my way!! 😀
Kiss & Make-up says
So! Many! LIGHTS! 🙂 It must cost a fortune to keep those light on for weeks, lol. Dat food tho…
LindaLibraLoca says
I really don’t want to be the one to pay the electricity bill there…
We don’t have those crazy Christmas Lights in Germany (or we didn’t use to, it seems to get more common lately), just warm lights and candles.
That food looks awesome. I totally skipped calorie counting, too. Had to make my New Years Resolutions a challenge, I think.
gio says
Wow, that’s a lot of lights! The food looks delicious!
Erin says
Luckily, Crab is really healthy. Eaten with grass fed butter it’s even healthier! Everything else on the table besides the seafood is highly suspect *wink*!
My holiday eating strategy is 1/2 plate full of veggies and then 1/4 meat and 1/4 carbs. In the case of what I see there I’d probably have eaten that prawn dish up with a full plate worth!
For the holiday for two spread I made for Christmas it was more like 1/3 lamb, 1/3 green beans, and 1/3 “crack” potatoes. I make a greek riff on a spanish potato dish and it’s so good people usually have 3rds. I had fist size portion and then had another portion for breakfast!

everything looks so great

I like the giant Hello Kitty! Lots of Christmas lights remind me of Vegas too, and that food looks delicious.

Everything looks delicious! I love Lumpia! I forgot what it is called but I love the sweet dessert version of lumpia with bananas. OMG. delicious.
What a yummy looking spread of food! We went out for sushi Christmas eve and yesterday we went to Red Lobster. Kinda on a seafood kick lately.
Alyssa Melanie says
I can’t wait for you to share your Lumpia recipe. If you could also share the recipe for the shrimps, that would be great too! I also spot Leche Flan in the lower right corner. You’d definitely gain weight from eating all that, lol. But it’s the holidays, we all have a right to binge! 😉 Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Lena says
i spy fried rice! and lumpias like the regional food of southeast asia isn’t it?! there’s a variety in every country (incidentally, they’re also called lumpia in indonesia!).
Barbara B says
Intrigued by the purple dessert!
