You know you’re from Northern California when you go to the beach and you’re shocked — SHOCKED! — to find that you don’t need to wear a sweater or jacket.
We took Connor to the beach for the first time yesterday. We went to Fort Cronkhite, which is on the northern tip of the Golden Gate on the Pacific side, because it was in the 90s and probably the last hurrah for hot weather here in this part of the Bay Area.
It’s usually windy and cold at the beaches here, but it was warm enough yesterday for a tee. And there were actual regular people swimming, too. Not just surfers clad in wetsuits.
It was probably still a little surprising for Connor because she started crying when her toes touched the water for the first time.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Karen says
We did!
Chelsea says
Looks like a beautiful day! Love all the doggies, and that last picture of you and Miss Connor Claire <3
Karen says
Hi Chelsea,
There were so many cute dogs that day. Dogs always look pretty happy, but when they’re by the water they seem to look the happiest.
Hope you had a nice weekend! Did you do anything fun?
Chelsea says
My parents have ponds in their yard, and the dogs always love them and being in them.
It was a pretty good weekend! Did some hand balance and contortion (with kittycat guests at my friend’s house), slept obscenely late on Sunday. I’m working from home right now, have a sinus and chest cold, but Quincy is on the couch with me, so that’s nice.
Karen says
Hey, Quincy! I hope you’re doing a good job of taking care of your momma!

SO envious of that weather today! CRAZY CAT LADY ALERT: Target has cat salt and pepper shakers and a cookie jar. They are also on line!

The last photo melted my heart, the way Connor looks at you is only true love <3. Here has been so rainy that I'm always wearing boots.
Karen says
I heart her. She’s my number one girl!
Stay dry in the rain, friend!

My son cried as well when his feet were in the ocean for the first time two weeks ago, but I give it to him that the water was very cold. They´ll grow to love it.
Also, I am jealous that you still get to carry her. He is so heavy already (chubby little Buddha) and hates to keep still, so I gave up on trying to carry him weeks ago.
Karen says
Aww, chubby little Buddha! I bet he’s a joy to cuddle. 🙂 How old is he now?
LindaLibraLoca says
He is almost the same age as Connor Claire, he will be seven months in October.

I love that beach! I flew out here for my friend’s wedding way back when. The day after the ceremony a group of us went to this beach. It was the usual windy, sweater day there. I moved out here about a year later.
Was the water cold? They current comes down from Alaska so the water is just too cold for me until it’s south of Santa Cruz.
Love the photos of you and Connor Claire.
Karen says
It was a little chilly, but after it splashed over my feet a few times it felt really good. I’ve never surfed that beach before (it’s mostly for short boarders and I can’t hang with that gang, LOL!), but I think it would be OK to get in the water if you had a super thick wet suit. And water socks. And perhaps one of those water masks that completely covers your head and ears… Yeah, it’s cold.
When your friend got married on the beach I hope the weather was nice! The wind can be killer.

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun!

Karen, thanks so much for sharing these pics. Such great pics of Connor Claire with Mommy! So sorry that you misunderstood my comment on IG last night. How awful to have such a great day and then spot a fire across the road. Glad you and your family are safe. ??
Karen says
Hiya Sandy,
Oh gosh, no need to apologize! I was freaking out and totally read it incorrectly in my state of freaking-out-ness. Thank you for always being so sweet and kind and supportive. It means so much! ❤❤❤
I hope you had a nice Tuesday. How has your week been so far?
Kim says
Looks like you guys had a fabulous day! Great pics! It’s a bit jarring to see all the dogs on the beach – I’m not a beach bunny by any means but I can’t think of one I’ve been to that allows dogs. It never really occurred to me before.
Karen says
Really? That blows my mind. To me beaches are synonymous with dogs. Are they not allowed on the East Coast?
