I feel that if the Park Ave Princess Contour Palette by Tarte ($34) came with a tiara, it would be that much more legit, because what’s a princess without a tiara?! A frickin’ travesty, that’s what it is.
Even though I like this palette, which comes with three powder products — a bronzer, blush and highlighter — I think it would be even more awesome if it came in a few different versions, like one for light skin tones, another for medium skin tones, and a third one for darker skin tones.
This would be the one for lighter lasses. The bronzer has a matte finish, which is what I usually use for doing deep cheek contouring, but this one doesn’t do squat for me as a contour color. It’s just not quite dark enough for an effective chisel. As a true contour color, it would prolly work better for pale princesses.
For medium mavens and darker divas, I do think it’s OK for a subtle overall bronzing effect, though.
Tarte Park Ave Princess Contour Palette ($34)
- $34, and available now online and at Tarte counters as part of Tarte’s new spring 2014 Anniversary Collection.
- It comes with a 0.23-oz. pan of Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer in Park Ave Princess (a light golden brown with a matte finish), a 0.10-oz. pan of Amazonian Clay Blush in Posh (a matte pale pink) and a 0.10-oz. pan of Champagne Gold Highlighter (a shimmery golden beige).
- Like most of Tarte’s products, these long-lasting powders (I get about seven hours out of them) contain Amazonian clay, Tarte’s secret ingredient, which is supposed to balance and provide different benefits to different skin types, like oily, combination and dry.
- The soft, moderately pigmented powders should be very beginner-friendly and easy to apply and blend, but I think the three shades would probably work best for lighter skin tones.
- Tiara, Prince Charming, ball gown, glass carriage and ponies NOT included. 🙂
PRICE: $34
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Tarte counters and online

Oops! The bronzer is too light for darker skin babes. Wish it came in more variants!

If anyone interested in this product is reading the comments…I just got this exact palette from Sephora (part of their holiday collection) for $24…$10 less! The packaging is slightly different but the shades are exactly the same! 🙂

You’re right about different versions of this like how Urban Decay does! This is pretty though and I love Tarte blushes and bronzers! 🙂

In my mind, a Park Ave Princess is someone like Blair Waldorf, so I would have expected a headband instead of a tiara.
Too bad they don’t do it in more colors.

The palette looks great but you are right that different version for various skintone would have been better.. 🙂

Yeah, this is definitely not a one-size-fits-all products. But I do like the look of it.

The other issue with this palette is that the bronzer will work better as a contour on warmer skin tones, while the blush will look more natural on cooler skin tones. So, even though my complexion is light and I like Tarte products and this looks very pretty, I don’t think it would really work for me as a contouring palette. Park Ave. Princess is fine as a bronzer for me, but not really for a contour powder. Too bad! The palette really does look pretty.

Ohhh this is very pretty! Love the bronzer is suitable for pale skintones. Usually, in palettes like this, the bronzer is always too dark for us pale princesses. But it’d be nice if there were more versions too.

I wonder why they didn’t make shades for other skin tones? That’s strange. This one would work for me, though!

I like the color of the bronzer, I think it’s perfect for warm toned pale folks. I’d have to try it on me to see if it was too muddy but it looks like it might work for cool tones too.

This looks really pretty and as a pale girl, it would totally work for me but like you said, its really strange they have only released it in one shade. Sadly, I don’t think they’ll release it here in the UK (we can only buy Tarte through QVC and the range is limited) but it’s fun to take a peek! xx

This looks like this would be good for pale girls. Nice!

Such a pretty palette but these colors won’t work for me. I agree, it would have been nice to see more variations

The bronzer looks awesome, but I’m not feeling the blush and the highlighter. I would pass on this one.
