I know, I’m talking about food again. Sorry! What can I say? The PMS is raging right now like a culinary maelstrom, and no amount of calories can satiate it.
I would seriously consider trading my tubby tabby for a plate of these plantain chips and some Puerto Rican food right now…
I took these pics during lunch last weekend at Sol Food in San Rafael.
Mmm… Fried plantain chips (with sort of a Thousand Island-ish dipping sauce).
I had a po’ boy sandwich with breaded, fried shrimp. Guhghll… So good.
El Hub had the pollo al horno plate with roasted chicken, beans, rice, a salad with lemon vinaigrette and two fried plantains (one sweet and one garlic).
I may be sleeping right now (it’s 2 a.m. out here in Cali), but I don’t care. I AM SO HUNGRY, DUDE! 🙂

Mmm… Now I want chips! Of any kind, really…
Also lemon.

Major chips cravings!! But…must…resist!!! I’m saving some tummy space for this week ahead, it’s my Birthday next wednesday and I’m gonna have way too much carrot cake! 😀
Chic Lapin says
Also…is it normal there to name dishes in Spanish? (Pollo al horno)
Karen says
Hi Chic Lapin,
Absolutely. Spanish has a lot of influence on everyday things here, and not just here but all over the US. Happy pre-birthday (and TGIF!). 🙂

Drool worthy.

OMG, why did you post these, now I want EVERYTHING!

Dude! I actually ate there once! When I lived in California, I had a friend in San Rafael and one of his mandatory stops was this place and it was delish! Now I am in the freezing midwest and thanks to those pictures, am dreaming of Sol Food too!

I had no idea what those chips thingies were until I started reading 🙂 Interesting! I bet they’re yum! Otherwise you wouldn’t be fantasizing about them, right? 🙂
Kim says
Oh, Karen – you are brave in your sleep. I hope Tabs didn’t read that you were even *considering* a trade. If he did, he’ll be a taskmaster today! 🙂

Sour Patch Kids. That’s where it’s at. I can’t stop drooling over them and bought a bag yesterday. Such a ridiculous craving! Of course now I want chips too.

Fried Plantain chips ! I miss home!

You should come over here just to eat a massive sandwich (seriously, they put Subway’s 12 inches to shame and more) from La Guarina. Really cheap, too 😀 This country has its faults, but food ain’t one of them!
Amanda says
I’m glad you’re enyoing food from my country ! And the thousand island-ish dipping sauce we call it here mayo-ketchup. Love your blog 🙂
