These boots were made for walking, and that’s just what they’ll do.
Seriously! These boots were REALLY made for walking. The heel is an entirely manageable 1 1/2″, which is perfectly acceptable should you need to run away from zombies (never know).
At least that’s what I told myself when I got them as a Christmas present. To Me, From Me. Merry Christmas! 🙂
They’re the Johanna Over-the-Knee Suede Boot by Sam Edelman, normally $299.95, but they’re on sale now for $149.98 (50% off) at Nordstrom stores and online.

Love these boots! Being 5’0″, I always thought boots like these would be too much for a short gal, but these look great. I wear tall boots and skinny jeans all the time in the winter, so I think these would be a nice, practical purchase. 🙂
Karen says
I was afraid of that happening, too! I think that these are designed very well; they make the legs look longer, especially when you’re sitting down.
The only thing is they’re not the easiest to remove. I can’t just kick ’em off like I do with my booties. It’s not a big whoop though.
Oh, and they are kitty approved. 😉
Majick says
HOLY CHIT! LOVE ’em! I love Sam Edelman. THese look great and a great price too!
Karen says
Yeah, the sale put me over the edge. I’ve been eyeing these all season. ARE YA GONNA GET THEM?!
Windie says
Boots are lovely.
Would you please share a closeup or description of the bag also? Or a link?
I’m looking for an atypical bag that does double duty as a diaper and mommy bag.
Karen says
Hi Windie,
Sure. I can do a quickie review of the bag with more pics if you’d like!
Windie says
Please do. Thank you Karen!
Karen says
You’re not the only one who’s asked about it! Funny thing is whenever it pops in pics there’s always a question or two. 🙂 Basically it’s the best dang practical purse in the world and it holds a ton. Will put the review on my to-do list. 🙂
Windie says
Ha! In reading through your blog for the past couple of years (circa 2010?), majority of my MAC cosmetic purchases and Zella active wear have been influenced by you.
Looking forward to reading your purse review.
Thanks again!

I just posted it! Here ya go: I’m Over the Moon About the Roomy Europa Shoulder Bag by Kipling.

Being short with muscular calves usually excludes me from over the knee boots!
Tulipthecat says
Love the boots! I was always wondering whether over the knee boots would be comfortable. I have a hard enough time taking off my regular boots without falling over. My boots of the week have been my Hunter wedge rain boots.
Stefi says
Wow, they really are beautiful and they look so good in you. I love boots that are fitted on top so these look great to me, you’re looking gooood, gal!
Love, Stefi
LindaLibraLoca says
Looking great. And a bargain after that discount.
Tatiana says
Girl, you rock those boots!!! Merry Christmas!
Karen says
Merry Christmas to you too, Tatiana!
Sunny says
Hey, they’re basically flat! I can probably walk in them, too 🙂 Definitely a sweet Christmas present, Karen!
Karen says
You could run in them, too. Run toward the kitties, Sunny! They are calling you!
Maritess Lee says
I love the boots! Where did you get that scarf???
Karen says
Hi Maritess,
It’s from DSW. I picked it up in store about a month ago. 🙂
Kim says
Love them! I am such a sucker for that style (even though I don’t own any).
Karen says
WHAT?! I vote that you snag a pair ASAP. Your knees need the extra warmth. Yeah, that’s it!
Kwmechelle says
Dayum! Yo! I WANT those boots! Super hot 🙂
Kelly says
TOO cute! I was actually looking at over the knee boots earlier but these are so adorable!
Fancie says
Love the boots and scarf! You just reminded me that I have a couple of over the knee boots in my stash. Now would be a great time to pull them out since we haven’t been getting any snow here in Michigan. Yet lol
Estefania says
Those boots are like, WOW. I think we’re around the same height, Karen, so you’re giving me hope for over-the-knee boots and my short calves!
I did the same thing this Christmas.
Since this is my first big-girl job, I took a chunk of my paycheck and bought myself a gift to put under the tree. I got a bag from Kate Spade (on sale, as well! Original price was around $450 and I scored it for $160!!!), which is waiting for me under the tree.
Agata says
These are awesome! I am glad you got such a great deal on them too!
Dee says
Never been able to get with the “over the knee boots”program myself heh but they do look comfy cute! I love the colour..my current winter boots are the same colour and theyre getting worn out but I need hard-core winter boots in Montreal lol.
cathy d. says
Omg thank you for sharing this! The boots look great on you and I just purchased a pair myself. Can’t wait to get them.
Kiss & Make-up says
I have a similar pair, only in leather. Same height and everything, and I agree, they are sooooo perfect for walking.
Tracy says
I’m also “space efficient” at 4’11” with muscular calves due to 20yrs of figure skating so boots are not usually my friend. But these look great on you! I’ve also a newbie to the whole skinny jean/leggings phenomenon and gotta say that I have no idea why I waited so long because they have become my winter uniform. Although I will always stand the “leggings-are-not-pants” idea cause if the lady parts are not covered it looks like you are wearing just tights. Just my opinion.
Karen says
Hi Tracy,
That’s super cool that you’ve been skating for so long! I really can’t do anything exciting on skates other than start and stop. Oh, I can crash into walls REALLY well. Can you do all those neat jumps?
Tracy says
Hi Karen,
This coming year I will be entering my last year as a 30something so those days are long gone but I started skating at the age of 3 and stopped competing once I went off to college. I competed on a national level and yes I could do all the jumps and spins. I did coach for a bit but I soon discovered that getting up for a 5am ice time did not coincide with being out until 2am on a Saturday night like the rest of my 20something friends were doing.
Karen says
Amazing! I’ve always been in awe of the athleticism and grace that ice skaters posses. I mean, I can barely even stand up on a pair of skates. I can only imagine how it feels to be able to do all of the jumps and intricate choreography. It must’ve taken a lot of work and dedication! Did you take ballet as well? Because sometimes, when I see skaters on the ice, I can see ballet training come through in certain moves.
Happy holidays to you!
Karen says
By the way, I’m halfway through my last year as a 30-something, too. 🙂
Tracy says
Yes, ballet was actually my first love. Every Saturday morning my mom would drive me all the way into Boston for lessons at the Boston Ballet Company. Both skating and dance required huge sacrifices that most young people would never want to make but I’m so glad that I did it. Even though I didn’t turn out to be a professional dancer or a skater I gained so much more from traveling and seeing the results from working hard.
