Just a quick look at some of the newest things to enter my beauty universe…
The Deborah Lippmann Sugar Plum Fantasy Trio
I like giving myself at-home manis on the weekends, but I’m having a hard time making a decision. I know I want to wear one of the three glittery plums in Deborah Lippmann’s new limited edition holiday trio, but which one…?
So sparkly!
PRICE:Â $42 for three full-size bottles
AVAILABILITY:Â Available now exclusively at Bloomingdales stores and online at bloomingdales.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A- (why is glitter such a pain to remove?)
The Oribe Ultra Gentle Collection
An indulgent three-piece kit for all hair types, with products to clean, moisturize and condition.
The kit comes with an 8.5-ounce bottle of Oribe’s Ultra Gentle Shampoo, a 6.8-ounce bottle of Ultra Gentle Conditioner and a travel-sized 1.7-ounce tiny tub of their Masque for Beautiful Color.
The shampoo, conditioner and hair masque untangle my knots and leave my mane soft and lightly scented (like freshly peeled oranges).
I like. 🙂
PRICE:Â $63 (youch!)
AVAILABILITY:Â Available now at select salons and oribe.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B+ (it’s pricey)
Lush Holiday Soaps
Lush’s fun, limited edition soaps always turn my post-workout showers into festivals of bubbles and yummy holiday scents!
PRICE:Â $7.85-$8.95 for 100g
AVAILABILITY:Â Available now at Lush stores and lush.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A
Jimmy Choo Intense Parfum
Official fragrance notes: tiger orchid, candied oranges, toffee chypre, sandalwood and patchouli.
When I wear this amped-up version of Jimmy’s original Jimmy Choo fragrance, I feel like I’m strutting down the street on the prowl, meow!
The fragrance from even one spritz lingers for a full 24 hours, so a little of this one goes a loooong way. Good thing I like the scent. 🙂
PRICE:Â $150 for a 1.3-ounce bottle (!)
AVAILABILITY:Â Available now at Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and nordstrom.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A (a fragrant indulgence)
Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 Masque
A moisturizing masque to quench thirsty skin. My combo dry/oily skin loves this stuff, and I feel like my face looks more radiant and rested when I use it.
PRICE:Â $52
AVAILABILITY:Â Available now at Blue Mercury, many spas and dermstore.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A+ (it’s expensive, but I’m seriously addicted)
Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Serum
Clarins says this lightweight face serum helps promote a lifted look by “encouraging the elimination of excess fatty deposits and fluids” with ingredients like caffeine and oat sugars.
Sounds good? I guess? I love the scent (I’m getting some lily-of-the-valley) and how smooth my skin feels when I use it, but it’s awfully expensive, and I don’t feel like I’m seeing the look-lifting results yet. Maybe I just need to use it longer…
PRICE:Â $70
AVAILABILITY:Â Available now exclusively at Macy’s Clarins counters and clarinsusa.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B-

I didn’t think I needed the Deborah Lippmann holiday trio, but now I know I do. I’m digging Sugar Shack. 🙂

I love the Jimmy Choo bottle— especially from that angle! I’m hoping to sniff it soon; orchid, toffee, and sandalwood sound great. The patchouli will probably be a game-time decision.

Oooh, the Lush soaps just reminded me that we are FINALLY getting a Lush store in our area. About 10 minutes away from me. Trouble trouble!!! Yesssss!!!

Deborah Lippman set is gorgeous and the Clarins serum I’ve been eyeing lately as well.. Not available in Norway (yet?), is it a new product? Great selection of products! 🙂 x x

I need a new fragrance soon & I think I’d love to try out Jimmy Choo Intense Parfum. Oribe Ultra Gentle Collection also looks worth trying.

Love the Lippman set! And I’d love to know more about the Oribe set!

The Lippman polishes look gorgeous! Oribe usually has good stuff from what I’ve heard (haven’t tried it yet). He makes a leave-in conditioner/pomade with gold in it – it’s supposed to give you subtle gold highlights when you work it in your hair. I think it goes for $30 to $40 (not cheap for a hair product at all). As for the Clarins stuff, when it comes to anti-aging or lifting type stuff you are supposed to give it as long as a month to see results. If it’s not working in a month, time to toss it. I think the makeup stores/counters should give out more samples of anti-aging stuff for free or at a super reduced price so that you can try before you commit to spending more than $50.

I was at Lush this weekend and didn’t even see the holiday stuff .. (sigh!).
I don’t own any DLippman polishes, so this would be a great way to get started 🙂

I’ve heard so many good things about Oribe, I’d love to try something from the brand. I usually can’t be bothered by haircare but there’s just something about Oribe’s packaging…
Also, NEED to get my hands on ANYTHING from Skinceuticals. I’ve wanted to try their serums for years but haven’t gotten around to it…it’s pricey, but I definitely think it’ll be worth every bit

You never tried the Elmer’s glue trick for glitter polish?
In an empty nail polish bottle fill Elmer’s glue 2/3 of the way and water in the remaining 1/3. Give the mixture a stir or a shake. You now have a cheap base coat for glitter polish!
Like any base coat, let the Elmer’s glue completely dry before you put on your glitter goo of choice. (Avoid touching water or moist things while you wait!) The Elmer’s glue base really keeps the glitter on your nail. It will survive the shower, hand washings, and other aqua activities with almost no chipping (depending on how abusive you are to your hands).
How do you take it off? Use a cuticle stick (or your nail, if it’s strong enough) and gently push the color off. The glitter will peel off thanks to the Elmer’s glue.
