Are you feeling Restless? If so, fear not, intrepid lipstick explorer! Adventure awaits! Just point your web browsery thingamabob toward Estee Lauder. Their new $30 Restless matte red lipstick, the product of a collaboration with current spokesmodel Kendall Jenner, is an online exclusive.
Available now for a limited time, it’s a warm, vibrant poppy red with a flat matte finish similar to MAC Lady Danger.
It boasts EL’s smooth and comfy Pure Color Envy Matte formula and pigment cranked up to maximum levels. When you wear Restless, you’ll either want to kick up your heels and do a dance of joy, or take a million duck-faced selfies. Or do both at the same time. It’s one of those reds, ya know what I’m sayin’?
At this point, I think it’s safe to say that mattes are back to stay, so let’s seal that statement with a kiss. Mwah! 🙂
Or not. They could just be making a temporary comeback until the next big lip trend comes along, which I’m hoping won’t be unblended dark purple lip liner and white frosty lipstick circa 1997.
Because I can’t do that again… I JUST CAN’T!
In other news…
BANGS! I haz them again!
I got mine trimmed yesterday afternoon (thanks, Alis!), so le fringe is back, baby.
I made the appointment about a month ago when I went to the salon to get my hair cut and colored — a fact I’m very proud of (LOL!) because I used to just wait until the last minute to see if I could sneak in an appointment.
But waiting till the last minute just doesn’t cut it anymore. Alis is always booked and busy, and sometimes I’d have to wait weeks, which would result in my hair growing unruly and me looking like Cousin It, so I’m trying to do the steady maintenance thing from now on.
I do have a point with all this, and here it is: next time you go to a salon, make your next appointment there before you leave (the salon). It’ll stave off potential hair-related heartache, give you something to look forward to, and provide a good excuse to chat with your stylist and make friends (always fun!). 🙂
Happy hump day to ya. Whatcha got cooking today?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

The bangs are cute! I’m pleasantly surprised at the Kendall shade – it’s gorgeously red orange and looks like it would stay put for a while!
Alison M says
I am so with you on scheduling my next hair appt before leaving the salon. I am so much happier with my hair and never have to plead for the next open appointment with my stylist!
MB says
Oooh love the hair and the lip shade!!!
Hugs,
From the Great Up North!
Agata says
I love this lip color on you but I love your bangs even more!
And yes, if you have a stylist who is really good the chances are that calling a week before you want to go in to schedule your apt is not gonna work. I learnt to schedule my next apt before I leave the salon too! That’s a life saving tip right there!
Kiss & Make-up says
Oh I love that lip color on you, Karen! And the hair’s looking guuuuuuuud.
Beti says
Lady Danger is my favorite lipstick ever! So the question is do I need this? I can’t resist orange red lipsticks I just want to have them all :))
Karen says
You totally do. They’re not exact dupes, just similar. I think Kendall’s is more poppy than orange. HTH!
Pavithra says
I always wait until the last minute to schedule a hair appointment! Restless is gorgeous, although a small part of me wishes it was a more everyday, everywhere kinda shade. I love Modern Muse Chic, need to go check out Le Rouge asap!. Have a good Wednesday Karen!
Karen says
Thanks Pavithra! I hope you had a wonderful day!
Tatiana says
Love the bangs! Yeah, I’m one of those who waits til the last minute and then can’t seem to get a hair appointment. I just never know what my schedule will look like 6 to 8 weeks in advance. I’m just not that organized. Need to start booking in advance.
Karen says
Thanks, Tatiana! Check with your salon to see what their cancellation policy is. Mine is 72 hours, I believe. That way, you can make your appointment 6-8 weeks in advance, and as your schedule gets clearer, you can decide if you want to keep it. 🙂 That’s what I do.

Dark purple liner with frosty lips…..guilty as charged! In fact, I was just thinking about the pics of me wearing said lippie. On makeup social (fun little makeup app that’s like a Facebook/Instagram for makeup junkies) someone just asked a question asking us to list the makeup mistakes we use to make. Circa 1997. Thank God I’ve grown =)
Karen says
OMG, thank goodness selfies weren’t a thing back then. My dark liner was a deep purple that was almost black that I got from The Body Shop. And the frosty shade was white!!! AHAHAHAHA! Talk about terribly unflattering. I’m just glad that I didn’t wear that on my graduation pics. I went with MAC Paramount instead, thank goodness.
Did you wear your lips with frosty eyeshadow, too?!
Kwmechelle says
Yes, sadly. Guilty as charged again! And I agree, I’m so, so glad that selfies weren’t a thing back then. What was I thinking?! I dunno, but whatever it was, I thought I was cute. SMH…
LindaLibraLoca says
Making an appointment in advance… I am so bad at this that I even stopped trying and just had my mother cut my hair for the last year. But I guess I really should get my head back to the salon unless I plan on wearing a messy bun for the rest of my days…
Erin says
That looks great on you but it’s too orange for me!
Rachel R. says
You’re bangs look great! I love the color of that lipstick.
Karen says
Thanks, Rachel! Now here’s to hoping that they actually stay well behaved, LOL! Mine have a tendency to go nuts.
I hope that you’re having a nice week so far. Anything new to report?
Rachel R. says
Well, nutty bangs look good on you, just like everything else. 🙂
Nothing too new on my end. It’s been hot as heck here and will be 100+ degrees by Saturday. The compressor is going out on my car’s AC, of course. We have an appointment to get it fixed tomorrow. I’m quite happy about that.
Have a lovely Friday!
Fancie says
The bangs look good on you! I didn’t think I was gonna like this lipstick but it has a touch of orange to it and I’m a sucker for those kinda shades. I think I like the necklace more than the lipstick though lol. Where did you find it? It looks so cool!
Karen says
I got it at H&M ages ago. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s available anymore.
Katherine M says
Loving your new bangs! You are so right on the hair maintenance. I tend to wait until last minute (i.e. when my hair really bugs me), too. Loving the lip color on you, too 🙂
Hair maintenance for me may or may not go by the wayside for a little bit. We are in the process of starting a move to a town that is not that far away but a better commute for the areas that we work in. I am packing and with putting our townhouse on the market, I won’t be able to dye my hair in the bathroom for a while. I may have to suck it up and pay the money to get it done by my stylist, who will do an awesome job, but I really save being able to do it myself.
Chelsea says
Poppy red is my favorite kind of red.
I’m so bad about scheduling haircuts, but my cousin does my hair, she can usually get me in when I need it.
Jane says
Love the lipstick but love the lips necklace in the promo pictures even more.
With you re the hair appointments … booking in advance helps me budget too, it’s so damned expensive having my hair cut and coloured here in the UK, I’d be interested to know how prices compare on each side of the Atlantic.
