You guys, you already know that I’m a big fan of layering primers and using different primers to address different concerns and specific areas of my skin. Well, I tried a new layering technique today, and I’m frickin’ lovin’ the results.
I usually start with a primer that has a little subtle shimmer for glow and radiance, then layer a heavier duty pore-blurring primer on top to smooth everything out, but today I reversed the order. I did the pore-blurring primer first (you gotta give Make Up For Ever Smoothing Primer a try), then patted shimmery BECCA Backlight on top.
LOVE. My skin looked smooth, and since I applied the shimmery primer on top of the pore-blurring primer (which tends to matte everything down), it still looked radiant and glowing and natural too, even after I layered my foundation on top, which is exactly the look I’m always trying to get.
Try it sometime! I think you’ll like the results. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Ooooh so nice that this little experiment paid off!

That’s what I normally do and I love the results as well.

Okay, I’ll try this. I have both of those products and frankly, I’ve never been in love with MUFE’s smoothing primer but I’ll give it another shot with the backlight.
Your skin is rocking in this pic!

I’ll have to try something like this!!
I just got the hourglass stick foundation, and while I love it generally, I’m struggling with the application a bit… there’s always some patchiness where the foundation clings to flakes on my nose and the space between my eyebrows, even if I exfoliate well & use a primer. Any advice? I have some hair between my brows, but it’s all very fine baby hair… I’m wondering if waxing will help. Or maybe I need a more moisturizing face lotion. Or just like, layers and layers of primer, lol. Oh, the trials of foundation!

Your skin looks awesome!! Karen, have you ever thought of doing a meet and greet/ hang out at Sephora/MAC thing in the Bay area?
Karen says
Thanks, Kim. Ya know, I’ve been asked this before, but I have a fear that the only person who’d show up is my cat, LOL!

Hi Karen,
How do you apply the Becca Backlight? Is it just like you would a normal primer, with your fingers, or do you use a brush and beauty blender?
Kim says
Well it would be your cat and me Karen 🙂

I’ve done that a few times recently with exactly those products, and it’s beautiful.

I just started using primers in general, I am not at the point where I am going to start layering them. But I will keep it in mind, should I become a primer nerd.

In love with the lip color. Please share as I am always looking for that good neutral lip that goes with most everything.
Karen says
Hi Cindy,
I’m wearing Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo in Seeker on my lips. 🙂 I did a review a few days ago. Do you want me to link it here?
Cindy S says
I will find it. Thanks Karen!

I actually have both of these things in my house right now, sample size though!

I love this idea. I actually have been wanting to try layering primers but I wasnt sure if it’d make my foundation look weird. I hate spending a lot of time on my makeup and then feeling like I need to wipe it off and start over. Thanks for sharing!
