Leave it to Molton Brown to turn the act of scrubbing away all of the schtuff that gets stuck to your skin throughout the day (tabby fur, glitter, Nutella…) into a full-on spa experience.
A shower is more than merely a shower when you lather up with one of their luxurious body washes. They turn shower time into a mini spa session, and they’re hundreds of dollars cheaper than a five-star Tahitian resort (although at $30 a bottle they aren’t exactly cheap).
I’ve been bouncing back and forth between their Gingerlily gel (fragrance family: floriental; has notes of ginger oil, tuberose, cedar and white lily) and the Orange & Bergamot (fragrance family: citrus; a zesty scent with notes of bergamot, neroli, musk and Seville orange). Both build into a luscious, sudsy lather, and when I’m done using one, my bathroom smells like a garden.
If you’re a sucker for fancy body washes, give ’em a sniff one of these days. For me, they hit the spot. A 10-oz. bottle goes for $30 (the bottles pictured here in this post are the smaller 3-oz. samples; the regular bottles are much larger).
Gingerlily and Orange & Bergamot are available now at Neiman Marcus stores, Molton Brown counters and moltonbrown.com.
P.S. On my walk this morning with Tabs, guess who stalked a mouse (or perhaps another rodent)?
No, it wasn’t me. 🙂
We were walking behind the house on the hill under some tall trees where the ground is covered by a thick layer of leaves, when Tabs saw something moving under the leaves and pounced! He dug both paws into the pile and darted around, and then his entire head plunged into the leaves like he was diving under water. I freaked out!
I tugged on his leash a little because I didn’t know if it was a snake, and we do have rattlesnakes around here. Whatever it was must have gotten away because Tabs came out empty-handed/pawed, but it was close.
Just another exciting episode in the life of an acclaimed kitty supermodel/hunter…
P.P.S. Happy hump day, my friend! Did you do anything fun for St. Patrick’s Day night? El Hub and I made tacos (yes, I know they aren’t Irish), but we did go to our favorite Irish pub earlier for lunch.

$30 for a bottle of a body wash is definitely crazy. I already feel bad spending $20 on a body wash!
Yesterday I only went over my parents-in-law for corned beef dinner and I had an Irish beer. And I wore my only green piece of clothing I own, which is a mint tank top, lol. I guess green is not my color.

Back in 1999 I was in one of my favorite restaurants in Boston and they had Molten Brown hand soap in the restrooms. I was immediately hooked! I used to pick them up at Bath and Body Works but they no longer carry them. My local Neiman Marcus carries them and unfortunately (for my wallet) they are displayed right in front of Jo Malone (another one of my fragrance weaknesses). I’ll have to check out the scents you mentioned as I am headed to a Beauty event inside NM tomorrow.
Also went for Mexican yesterday with my hubs. Weird.

I own a couple of these body washes and they are very nice. However I don’t use them as much as others because they are heavily scented and I like wearing perfume everyday. I feel like the scents compete. I prefer a milder scented body wash most days.

I love the scent of Gingerlily and ended up impulse buying their body spray version while wandering around NYC (conveniently had time to waste and was right by a store). I love the scent and wish it lasted longer. My only gripe is that it isn’t sulfate free which I would prefer.
As an aside, you can buy it from Birchbox also and wait for their coupons to get 20% off. I agree with Agata – it’s tough to justify (until you smell yourself all the time)!

Ooh when I lived in London these were my splurge – my favourites are pink pepperpod & yang-ylang.

There is just something so luxurious about using such a fancy body wash, huh? 🙂

I like to indulge in a body wash now and again, saving it for special occasions, but I usually go for the warmer scents like L´Occitane Almond Oil.

Gingerlilly sound right up my alley in terms of fragrance! I wonder if the scent comes in a candle or spray. *pops off to stalk MB’s site*

I don’t usually like body washes, but that Bergamont one sounds heavenly. I hate snakes, so glad that Tabs is ok!! Have a great day!

The Orange & Bergamot one sounds divine! I usually don’t spend this much for a body wash, but I’m really tempted to give this a sniff.

I’ve used Moulton & Brown shower gel and other products when I’ve stayed at luxury hotels, and they are the best! I would love the Orange & Bergamot especially.

I joined some friends of mine for dinner last night and we had Taco Tuesday. Weird, I know, because that’s so un-Irish. But a good time was had by all and we did it potluck style. Your’s truly made homemade salsa. It was delish! These shower gels sound like they smell amazing. Too bad about the price tag. But not to worry. More pennies saved for makeup :-). Glad Tabs is good!

I have to try this!

Karen, you MUST try Molton Brown’s new scent “Rhubarb & Rose”, it’s so good!!!
In fact I have these two bottles in my shower at the moment, along with “Ylang-Ylang”. 🙂 Good taste, Karen! 🙂
I bought the package with these little bottles (10 pieces) and got a sample of the “Rhubarb & Rose”, so good, I have it in my sport bag. Want! But yes, quite expensive …

YES! I used Gingerlily before and absolutely loved it! I didn’t know the existence of Orange Bergamot but now I might have to get it. I’m a bergamot addict…

I have a sample of this! I had no idea it was that expensive! LOL! Good thing I didn’t give it to my bf to use! I’d take it back anyway if I did. LOL
