As far as high end/highfalutin eyebrow pencils are concerned, I think the ones by Tom Ford and Hourglass are the ones to beat.
Today I thought Guerlain’s Eyebrow Pencil in Brun Ideal ($31) might join those two, and it probably would have if I’d been able to find more colors.
So far, I’ve only found one — 1 Brun Ideal — a light grayish brown, which, yeah, looks a little funky-town in my dark brows.
I think my skin tone brings out the purple in Brun Ideal, which makes the inner part of my brows look dark and the outer tail end look sort of grayish purple.
Hmm…
Things I like: the hard pencil texture. It definitely clings to my skin and the brow hairs, which is good, and it stays put 9-10 hours without breaking up or fading, even when it’s hot outside.
It also comes with a sharpener, and you can never have too many of those.
But there’s that whole one color thing… There must be more of them out there. This can’t be the only one. Right?
I just wish there were more shades… For now, I think I’ll stick to Tom Ford’s Brow Sculptor, which comes in Blonde, Chestnut, Espresso and Taupe.

Okay, so not really a total hit but not a big miss either, good to know.

Yeah…the purple coming out in this…not particularly ideal for eyebrows. My skin also brings out the purple in otherwise awesome products. Like taupe. I love a good taupe and was particularly drawn to LmDB Corinthian which just turned all sorts of disappointing mauve on me.

That definitely has a purplish look. I’ll have to give Tom Ford’s a try. I’m using the Anastasia Brow Wiz right now and it’s OK but I’m not in love with it. The problem with Tom Ford is that I’m in love with all his stuff, just from your pics/swatches!
PS Happy Friday! The boys had their first day of Middle School yesterday and they loved it. Did I tell you that they’re both trying the trumpet this year? Bring on the band! 🙂

Yeah this wouldn’t work for me either and it does look a little purple. Now I’m itching to try the Hourglass and Tom Ford ones lol.

You look sooooo pretty here. How did you make your face look so bright? Like, really bright!

Aww, thanks Baby A. I think it’s the concealer. It’s Laura Mercier’s new one that I reviewed the other day. It’s great at really concealing dark circles but it takes so much work. Here is a link to the post in case you’re interested:

By the way, cute name! 🙂

I don’t think this will work on me, but now I want to try the Tom Ford one! Sounds great.

This actually looks perfect for my mid brownish taupish greyish eyebrows. Yes, purply on you, but could look great with my coloring. Thanks for reviewing even though it isn’t exactly your shade!!

You’re welcome, Amy. This sounds perfect for you! It’s a solid performing pencil… I think you will like it. 🙂
Happy Friday!

You’re turning violet, Violet! On the ends it looks pretty purple. I like the look and coverage of the product but the color is just way off!

Love the concealer and lip color you’re wearing! May I ask for the shade of your lippie? x
