I wonder where Merveille hath gone…
Wonder — as in Merveille, which according to Google Translate means “wonder,” and that it is. If you like lightweight, slick plum glosses, bear witness to Merveille!
Dior Addict Gloss in Merveille ($29.50), part of the fall Mystic Metallics collection, may be a little tough to track down online right now… It’s currently listed as unavailable on dior.com, but you can sign up to be alerted when it returns.
Pretty darn saturated and opaque enough for my pigmented lips, Merveille also has a hint of red that I like. It keeps it from going too CSI on me (an issue I have with some plum glosses).
To quote Yoda, another wonder/marvel, “A ripe and juicy marvel, this plum gloss is.” 🙂 If that sounds good to you, keep your eyes peeled and your pout plump next time you hit up a Dior boutique or counter.

Doesn’t this look a lot like the Chanel Merveille gloss? That was part of last year’s fall collection, I think.

I thought the exact same thing! How curious that both its name and its color are so similar to Chanel’s o_O

The swatch of this is so pretty, but I don’t think it’d work at all with my skin tone.

This is close to the Chanel MerVeille but not exactly a dupe. IMHO, the Chanel version is a better color…at least for me. I am a fair skinned redhead with blue eyes and some “plummy” colors can be a little too much for me and emphasize the red/pink undertones in my skin. I tried the Chanel and it was so perfect I immediately bought a backup. Highly recommend it if you can’t track down the Dior version. I don’t have a preference between these two brands, I can go either way. But the Chanel version is a winner.
