I’m going to date myself here as an…. ahem, “maturing” make up junkie….but Bobbi Brown was the Queen Mother of bringing sexy back with nudes, years before Urban Decay even existed as a company. Making women beautiful with natural/nude make up was her trademark concept that brought her being merely a make up artist in 1991, to a cosmetics mogul with trademak style at the highest end retailers around the world. I remember buying my first gloriously natural, yet stunning Bobbi palettes at Bergdorf’s in the early 90’s( along with structured Kate Spade bags and squared out Via Spiga’s). the 90’s was an era of drab utilitarian, pared down chic that countered the excesses of the flamboyant 80’s. with everything in black, nude and gray tones, minimalist jewelry, clunky shoes, and grunge. Banana Republic’s simple mutes classics and neutral geometric stripes were all the rage, complimented by nude/matte faces from MAC and Bobbi Brown. Think Uma Thurman in Pulp fiction, nude, matt, and a shocking flash of blood red vamp on lips and nails. Urban Decay was known as “grunge” makeup in the 90’s when it started. In the late 90’s while Urban Decay had a little niche market with bold statement colors and wild metalics for the punkers and non conformists of the day, Bobbi Brown was alredy making millions across the globe on an arsenol of her signature nude collections at Nieman Marcus, Bergdorf’s, Nordstrom. I actually still have a basket full of anciet nude bobbi palettes from the late 90’s I still keep for sentimental sake.

Every makeup brand now have its own version of the UD Naked palette. But, I love nudes on the eyes, so I’m lovin’ the trend! This one’s a nice palette for travel. 🙂
