Why isn’t this product permanent, already?! Because it seriously needs to be. Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil, a combination shiny lipgloss/moisturizing lip treatment oil, is back again after going into hibernation for part of the year.
This year, if you’re not quick enough, a particular dry-lipped pregnant lady, who shall remain nameless (she’ll be covered in cat hair), just might clear out the entire stock.
I’m just sayin’. If you have dry lips and like Clarins, you should act quickly. 🙂
My goodness, this has been a freaking godsend. It’s available in two shiny, lightly tinted $24 shades — the 01 Honey shown here and another shade called 02 Raspberry.
It’s a massively moisturizing, shiny lip treatment oil with a non-sticky formula. The oils are 100% plant-based, too, and include hazelnut and jojoba (among other oils) to plump, soften, smooth and nourish.
Ingredients
Hazelnut oil nourishes, plumps and softens lips.Organic Jojoba oil nourishes and smoothes, without a sticky after feel. Leaves lips soft, comfortable and perfectly hydrated.
Mirabelle Plum oil (present in the honey shade) protects from dehydration—promoting soft, supple lips.
Raspberry Seed oil (present in the raspberry shade) nourishes and protects lips from future aging with anti-oxidant benefits.
After a few hours wearing this magical witch’s brew, my lips look and feel about as close to new as they ever get. They’re much softer, moisturized and feel better, and my lip lines and flakes look considerably less obvious. The finish, which starts out glossy, fades to a satin over the course of a few hours.
I usually wear this on its own or with a nude lip liner, but sometimes I’ll use it on top of a lipstick.
This one here, 01 Honey, tastes (and smells) a little like honey and apples to me, and it’s not one of those artificial flavors. It tastes real. And real good.
Even the applicator is a joy to use. It’s absolutely spa-caliber. It just feels soft and velvety on my lips and gets the product everywhere it needs to be.
I love, love, LOVE this to pieces, and I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed that it joins the Clarins permanent line. It’s sure to become a cult classic.
Honey and Raspberry are available now (for a limited time) at Clarins counters and online.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Right. I totally need this. NOW.
Karen says
Yes you do!
Kim says
I absolutely need this. By 9 AM, my poor lips are back to their dry, dehydrated selves (colder weather, paired with a head/chest cold). I don’t think it would be physically possible to drink more water so I need a miracle lip product! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Kim,
I think you’d love this then. Also try Nuxe Reve de Miel if you can’t get a hold of the Clarins. Both are great for super chapped lips. 🙂
Kim says
I’m writing that down now. Thanks so much!
Karen says
You’re welcome! It comes in a pot (wish it came in a tube) but I like it so much that I don’t mind it so much. It’s a good layering balm too, and does well underneath lipsticks and glosses.
Kim says
I thought I’d remembered you reviewing it but couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t on my list. It must have been the pot. 🙁 Still, as you say, I can put up with that since it gives such good results. Definitely checking it out!

This looks magical….I love Clarins so I’ll have to give it a try. Is it similar to the Yes to Coconut cooling lip oil?
By the way…
Last night I was sitting on the sofa watching TV and I heard a thump and little paws scurrying on the floor. I looked over and then I saw a flying cat that landed on my chest. Has that ever happened to you?
Karen says
It *is* magical. Ya know, I haven’t tried the Yes to Coconuts Cooling Lip Oil yet. How is it? Do you like it?
And LOL! How did Tulip manage to pull off that ninja move? Whenever there’s a cat on my chest it always — ALWAYS — at an inopportune time. Well, for me. For Tabs it’s always a good time, haha. Last night he decided that my chest wasn’t enough for him, so he draped himself across my neck (!) at 3 in the morning and hung out there for a bit. I was too tired to do anything about it and just let him hang out there.

I almost bought one when it came out last year, but then I decided to wait because I just got a set of the Instant Light Lip Perfectors. But as much as I love them I don’t find them super nourishing, and my lips are very dry in the winter. I think I need to grab this oil this season!
Karen says
Another one for your French Friday series, Lulle! Also try Nuxe Reve de Miel if you haven’t already. It seriously is THE BEST.
Lulle says
Yup, another great candidate for that post series. The only thing that limits me is my budget really, lol!

Darn you! I had to do a special search in Macy’s for these to come up, ordered both because i’m into my lips now. My fav is still the LaMer Lip Balm, it’s $55 but they give you a lot of free samples on their website, it makes up for the cost… happy holidays!

Karen says
I hope you love these, Lily! They’re wonderful. 🙂

Hmmm, I was thinking about getting the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask but this sounds like heaven and I think I’ve read raves about it in the past too. I’m hoping that Sephora will carry it as well as Clarins itself, and maybe it’ll be something I pick up with my VIB coupon.
Karen says
If you find it at Sephora let me know!
Allison C says
Will do!

I really need this. For the first time EVER, everything is dry on me. My face, my lips, my cuticles, my hands, my nails are so dry they’re peeling. Argh. This has never happened to me before. I recently bought 5 different lip balms trying to find one to hydrate and restore my lips. Sigh.
Off to order this, as I really do love Clarins products.
Now if I could only find the right cuticle/nail/hand treatment.
Karen says
Hey Tatiana!
For cuticles I swear by CND Solar Oil. I keep a bottle on my desk and another one on my nightstand. I get mine at Ulta. 🙂
Tatiana says
Thanks for the tip. Looking at Ulta on-line right now. Stay warm and dry today.
Ruchita says
I definitely need this! The different type of oils seem like they would be very moisturizing. Sometimes, regular lip balm just doesn’t cut it.
LindaLibraLoca says
I never understood why you should spend so much money on a lip oil? I use coconut oil if my lips are very dry. No tint, but I don’t feel you get much color out of these anyway.
Nina says
Karen, I finally got the Becca pressed highlighter in Opal – and I am in love! It is the aboslute best highlighter that I have ever tried. I actually like it more than the Mary-Lou Manizer by The Balm (say what?! yes, it’s true). I ordred it from cultbeauty.com, as they ship to Norway. What else do you think i should try by Becca? I have my eyes on the liquid highlighter in Rose gold. 🙂

Yes yes and yes. My lips feel like spongebob out of water this time of year and it takes some heavy duty stuff to get them soft and supple. This seems perfect!
Indya says
OMG I was just saying how my lips are in pain because of the cracking due to the weather change! I feel like it heals and as soon as it does, I’m back to the drawing board!
Erin says
I think this is now perm in the UK… or I think that’s what Caroline Hirons said a few months ago, so there may be hope for the US.

Dryness in general is the bane of my existence, this sounds nice! I just picked up a new lip balm over the Black Friday weekend that I’m waiting to be delivered (I think the citrus in Nuxe Rêve de Miel is irritating my lips, boo hiss), and I often will put oil on my lips at night – I keep a little travel bottle that I fill with olive oil next to my bed, and use it all over my nails and cuticles most nights, and I use it on my lips too.
Make sure to drink water too 😀
Trude says
I’ll have to check this out STAT. This new higher elevation has dried me out like whoa, I’ve had chapped lips for the first time in ages! I ordered the Bite Beauty lip mask but if that’s not enough this is going on the Xmas list. 🙂
Rita says
Yay, I’ve been using this lip oil since last spring, mainly during the night, and I just love it, too! I would not say my lips are totally cured, but they are less dry. I have not had a chance to try it out during the winter (I’m in Northern Europe) though, it’s the ultimate test. I was ISO a lip oil, and was really happy to find this one.
Kat says
I really need this in my life! My lips are dry as desert no matter what lip balm I use, they crack a lot.
Betsy C. says
Thank you for giving me that little push I needed! I have been on the fence about ordering these, but last week I ordered one in each color. I have a small mouth and constantly fight dry lips, so these might just be what I’ve been in search of. And BTW, Karen you’re looking wonderful!
Gina says
Hi! I never comment but I read your blog all the time and trust your judgement on products! Anyway, I have really dry lips and thought I’d recommend my fav product. Its Dr Bronners lip balm in Naked. The only thing that allows me to wear lip pencil. I apply, do my makeup, blot my lips and then pencil. I have spares in the car, in my purse, by my bed….

Love this. I bought the Raspberry one last December as part of their Garden Escape spring collection, bought the palette as well.
Along those lines, I just bought Jane Iredale’s, my first ever purchase of hers, Sugar & Butter Lip Exfoliator/Plumper. Brown sugar scrub on one end and balm on the other. Very nice. I also bought her Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain in pink which changes color depending on your lip tone.
