It was ok, the guy brought the car to us so we wouldn’t have to drive another hour. We test drove it, everything looks fine. Tonight we are going to sign the papers and get everything set up with the bank so hopefully tonight we will have our 2013 Ford Taurus :)*fingers crossed*
Yay! It’s a swedish cake – my absolute favourite. It was made in the 40’s and was originally called “grön tÃ¥rta” – or green cake, but the name was changed to PrinsesstÃ¥rta because the swedish princesses loved it so much 🙂
LOL . Yeah I discovered this cake on my second trip to Sweden and I thought it was fondant. It tastes really lovely. But I think I may like semlor more. IDK lol. And now I just learned from you why it is called prinsesstårta . I never thought Iäd learn it on a makeup blog. WOW Thanks Lina !
I’ve been living here for years and just discovered it last weekend. I think it’s super cool that it’s right across the creek from the library. You can get books and snacks (two of my favorite things) all in one swoop. 🙂
Was the Ideal Stationary store in the same shopping center around when you lived here? I visited it last weekend and that place is a haven for cat lady gifts.
No, I believe there was a ROSS store where the stationary store is now. I moved up to Sonoma County in the 90s, but still visited often until 2005 when Mom and I bought the house together up here in Santa Rosa. Grant Ave was within walking distance of our house so those are my old stomping grounds. I’ll have to check out the area someday soon and see what’s there. These days when I’m in Novato spending time with Mary we don’t get around to venturing past Vintage Oaks (spending hours in Sephora).
Omg Karen its my birthday today!! i so thought for a minute that you were celebrating haha 🙂 have been reading for years but this is probably my first ever comment; love you and Tabs by the way!!
Kisses from Istanbul xoxo
Creekside did my wedding cake, in the last century. I had carrot cake–my favorite–and they did a beautiful and delicious job. Back in the olden days, long before you moved to Novato, Ross (before it went discount and was ownded by Mr. Isaacson, who was some how related to Mervy Morris of Mervyn’s) was where the Office Supply store is now. I worked at Ross at would often get something from Creekside, or the Deli, (Pumperdinks)located on the other side of Ross. Those were the days!
This is my favourite cake in the world – we have a form of it here in the UK called Festival Gateau. I haven’t had it for years but every time I see it I swoon over it. All that marzipan and sponge and cream. Ahhh! I am going to my happy place.
OMG, I love cake! I’m a sucker for vanilla buttercream, even if it’s under fondant. Wedding cake, princess cake, birthday cake, no good reason cake ohhhhhhhhhhhhh

Mmm, it looks delicious!

It was pretty good. I wanted the white sponge cake to be more spongy, but maybe that’s because I’m very picky about my cakes. 🙂
How was car shopping last night? Do you guys have new wheels?

Oh how cool! I love bits of trivia like this, Lina. 🙂 I will have to remember that next time I have princess cake.

I remember Creekside Bakery! I grew up not too far from where it’s located. Glad to know it’s still in business. YUM!

It looks beautiful but I just can’t abide by fondant. Maybe it’s just me but I find the taste and consistency to be akin to Play-Doh. 🙂

You are going to think I am crazy, but…
No thanks.
Seriously! 🙂 I don’t like cakes or pies a lot, unless there’s plenty of chocolate in them.

I remember Princess Cake from our Swedish friends. It’s not fondant, it’s marzipan. Very unique! Thanks for a great blog.
