Wearing Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 2.0 in Alter Ego
I was having one of those “Oh, no, you did not just put me on hold again, Tabs!?” afternoons today. You know, the kind where your cat employer calls you at the office and then puts you on hold, and you repeat to yourself, “Breath in, breath out. Breathe in, breathe out,” and your shoulders are so tense and flexed that they practically touch your ears?
But after a few minutes with the new Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 2.0 duos and 4.0 quads, I started to feel a whole lot better. Calm and centered; cool and collected.
It’s true what they say. Luscious colors and soft textures really do soothe the savage beast. 🙂
This May, seven new Ready Eyeshadow 2.0 duos ($20 each) and two Ready Eyeshadow 4.0 quads ($30 each) join the bareMinerals clan, touching down on Bare Escentuals counters, boutiques and at Sephora stores.
Here are pics of five of the duos and one of the quads. If you take a look, I’d be curious to hear what you think.
For the record, I noticed a wee bit of fallout when I tried on The Alter Ego duo, but it wasn’t much. Just a few crumbs. And with as pigmented as the colors are, I can live with it.

Hurry, Friday, hurry!
Um, you know what I’m ready for? The weekend. All I want to do is sleep, work out, spend time with the boys, and eat fish and chips.
I’ve been craving it since St. Patrick’s Day.
So greasy… So yummy… So wrong that it’s right…
Not exactly health food, I know, but I can’t help myself. Or I don’t want to. 🙂
Anyone else excited about the Game of Thrones season premiere on Sunday?
I wonder if Tabs would get along with that little dragon… Something tells me no.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Ready for the new ones? I’d be happy if we could get the old ones! They’re only available online in Canada, or at least where I am, which is a pretty large city. I’ve been wanting to try these for ages!
Ashley says
Hey Kate, I’m not sure where you live but they are in the West Edmonton Mall in Murale. 🙂
Beverly says
I am a hope-to-die fan of Game of Throne…and I AM EXCITED about the new season…wonder what Kaleeshi’s pet is going to do????
Skin Care Specialist says
Is game of thrones really good? I haven’t watched any episodes but I’ve heard some good reviews.
Anyway, you look with those bare minerals. I really have super sensitive skin so I really don’t wear much makeup, would you recommend this to me?
Beverly says
It is so good that I sit for however long the show is on, and I DARE anybody to bother me while I am watching it!!!
Jenn says
The Phenomenom was a TSV on QVC, I already have and love it!!
Becca says
I have been counting down the days for Game of Thrones–so excited!!! I just recently finished reading the last book too and absolutely can’t wait for George RR Martin to release the next one (a little nervous though, as he took about 6 years to release the last one!!). Have you read the books Karen?
Karen says
Hi Becca,
I started reading the first book back when season one was on. Then Ned got beheaded on the show and I was too heartbroken to finish it. 🙁 I still haven’t gotten over that scene.
Fieran says
Oh these colours are really nice. I need more Bare Escentuals in my life.
Karen says
Hi Fieran,
Well, hopefully you’ll be able to come to the Bay Area again soon so you can stock up! And when you do you have to let me know…maybe we can meet for coffee.
Kim says
I’ll bet Last Call would be awesome on you – you’re a genuine rocker of the blues. Plus, you know, I’m a Bond geek so I like the name. I was surprised by how dark Shaken was in the swatch, though.
Totally excited for GoT and can’t wait to see the dragons. Nothing in the book series shocked and upset me as much as Ned’s head, so I have a similar hope for the show. 🙂
Happy Friday!
Karen says
Hi Kim,
I’m still reeling from that scene and I’m still not over the fact that it actually happened. GRRRR to Joffrey. 🙁
Okay, speaking of Bond, who’s your fave? I gotta say, I kindasorta love Daniel Craig.
Kim says
I’m a Joffrey hater, too. He doesn’t improve any with age. I really loved Ned as a character (one of the very few) so that made it the worst part of the books for me. I’ll warn you, there are a lot worse things that happen, in terms of violent acts themselves. It’s just easier to deal with when you’re not as invested in the characters. 🙁
Oh, I’m totally old school. Sean Connery all the way. Though I’d put Daniel as #2 for sure. 🙂

The Phenomenon and Hidden Agenda are calling out to meeeeee….
Fish & Chips yum! Your picture is so mouthwatering and makes me want some! For all Fridays of Lent, we have been eating dinner at our Church’s Lenten Fish Fry! The guys from the Knights of Columbus sure know how to do great fried fish! <3
Anddddd yesss – cannot wait for season 1 of GOT! <3 I miss my Tyrion!
Karen says
Hi Ninca,
That sounds DELISH! On Fridays I usually get my fish fry on at the local Puerto Rican restaurant. They have a whole fried fish as a special…El Hub knows not to talk to me when I’m getting my grub on, LOL! 🙂
What are you guys doing this weekend? We’ve got a couple of boring house errands to run (sigh), taxes and maybe if I’m lucky a movie. 🙂
Nina says
we have a cuban place (as well as a thai place) that does a great whole fried fish. i love the crispy bits! 🙂
im going to clean tomorrow (saturday) and then sunday, were off to the toy and comic book store, as per usual.
ive been getting my sandman spinoffs on all week! 🙂
Sunny @ Mostly Sunny says
*sharp intake of breath* I think I need at least 3 of these! Who am I to resist The Alter Ego (a pale gold and purple? Both are colors that I’d wear very very often) and The Sountrack? They look soooo pigmented too! Very preeety 🙂
Karen says
They’re really cool and so much easier to use than their loose shadows! Do you guys get bareMinerals out where you live?
Sunny @ Mostly Sunny says
We do get bareMinerals on Beautybay, which is a UK-based webshop. However I have already checked and they don’t have the duos yet! All they have at the moment in terms of eyeshadows is loose shadow.
Chris25 says
The 15 minutes was made just for me!
Karen says
Hi Chris,
Oh, lucky you that you can pull those shades off. I have a hard time with the darker red.
Anywho, happy Friday! What are you up to this weekend?
Chris25 says
Homework, homework, making brownies, homework. 🙂
Shannon says
Oh, they look so pretty! We actually have a boutique in town that carries these, and they just sit there so pretty and velvety and sexy… sigh. I just want all of them, all the time.
Ana says
Gonna pick up Alter Ego and Hidden Agenda! They look gorge.
Barb says
Oh my!! I’m definitely gonna have to invest in a few of these!
Also, cannot wait for Game of Thrones! Love that show 🙂
Katherine G says
These colors look amazing for smoky eyes. I do like Bare Minerals foundations, and their eyeshadows have gotten good reviews. When I’m in the market for neutral, or a good smoky eye look (with some different colors) I will definitely look at them.
On another note, your Urban Decay post on the new eyeshadow palette inspired me to buy Fishnet yesterday (they had a full sized, $18 one). I also bought a 24/7 eyeshadow stick in Morphine.
Have a great Friday night! I might be going out with my neighbors 🙂
Karen says
Hi Katherine,
I like these pressed shadows a lot. They’re super pigmented and wear really well, too.
And yay! I hope you enjoy your UD shadow. You’ll have to let me know what you think of it once it arrives. 🙂
Where are you going tonight with your neighbors? I think El Hub and I are going to take it easy. We went out to dinner last night (Italian), so tonight we’re probably keep it low key at home.
Maria says
I gave up on BareMinerals about 5 years ago because I just didn’t like the loose stuff for face make-up, not enough coverage and that’s what I’ve associated them with ever since. I’ve seen pix of these and was hoping you’d do watches. Now I’m so wanting to try them out. What really got me was that for what seemed like the first month with the makeup it seemed to cover well and last through-out the day, then it seemed to just stop! I’m hoping these are totally different because the colors are pretty and look so pigmented!
BTW, Fish and Chips is such a big weakness of mine and I only really like Salmon so totally weird! I had it last at a Red Robin over a month ago and have been craving it ever since. Thanks for the pic and the temptation 😉

Glad to see The Phenomenon is going to be offered. This is the only item from the TSV that interested me but not enough to buy the whole kit. Maybe I can use one of my punch cards for it.
