It appears that man’s best friend at Buxom has been seeing a makeup-loving woman on the side! Good morning and happy hump day, cutie. 🙂 Let’s get Wednesday off to a good start with a peek at the four new Buxom Stay-There Eye Shadow colors for spring 2011 ($17 each), which, like Buxom’s 10 previous Stay-There shades, are named after different breeds of dog (woof!).
What’s a Buxom Stay-There Eye Shadow?
With a plush, lightweight texture, these faithful beauty companions come in 14 waterproof shades. Non-greasy and long-wearing, the Buxom Stay-There shadows are always there when you need ’em, looking out for your pretty peepers with a mineral-infused, paraben-free formula enriched with Aloe and Vitamin E.
Tabs said he likes the idea, but he hopes Buxom considers adding a few feline colors to the line (and would like to offer his kitty modeling services if they do). While they mull that over, I’d like to submit a color suggestion if I may — Mystery Mutt, a shimmery golden brown, named after Shauna, my family’s beloved pooch.
Shauna the Wonderdog!
These just hit my desk, so I haven’t been able to test them for wear time yet, but I like the soft, spongy texture and blinged-out shimmer.
Here’s a quick look…
Clockwise from the lower right: Sheepdog, Collie, Cocker Spaniel and Husky

Did you see anything you like?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Tiffany says
I like cocker spaniel and collie!
Karen says
Coincidentally, those are two of my favorite dog breeds, LOL!
Tiffany says
haha, I actually have had both a cocker spaniel and a (border) collie in the past!
Karen says
They’re great dogs. Good natured, loving, loyal… aww, now I want a pup!
Kinda random, but I talked so somebody last night about Jack Russell terriers and suddenly remembered the one that used to roam my old neighborhood and chase me while I was running. Gosh that dog was MEAN!
Michelle says
I love these. They feel like a marshmellow they’re so soft!
Karen says
That’s a spot on description! Totally like a fluffy marshmallow. 🙂
Kim says
Oh, Sheepdog, of course. I’m so predictable. 🙂
Hopefully Buxom is listening to your suggestion of kitty names. They do NOT want to get on Tabs’ bad side. 🙂
Karen says
LOL! I like that color for brightening. Pop it in the inner corner and oh-la-la! Instant sleep!
If Tabs had his way Buxom would dedicate an entire line to the kitties with colors like Stray Cat, Nine Lives and Paw Swipe. 😉
Jessica G says
Aww Tabs has great ideas,my cat Snook would like colors like Hiss,Whiskers and Tail Lash.
Karen says
Oh, great names! I especially like Tail Lash. Tabs knows that move well, LOL!
Laurina says
Cocker Spaniel looks pretty. I have the color Mutt and it is such a beautiful color! i would really recommend it for ladies with blue eyes (but really I think it would look good in almost anyone) these do crease a bit after 6 hours or so but this was without a primer under it. But I do love it and use it as my everyday lid color 🙂
Karen says
Thanks for the heads up, Laurina. I will have to try it with my NARS Pro Prime. 🙂
Happy Wednesday!
Lisa S. says
I have it in Mutt also and agree with you about the wear time. With a primer though, I get about 12 hours. Mutt is is one of my designated go-to colors when I just want to swipe something on and go.
Karen says
Super, thanks you guys! I’ll be sure to pop some NARS Pro Prime underneath. 🙂
Andrea H says
Are these creamy? Or loose powders like other Bareminerals products? They look creamy in the pics, but I just wanted to make sure.
Karen says
Hi Andrea,
Yes, they’re creamy. The texture’s kinda neat. It’s not as dense as a MAC Paint Pot or a Benefit Creaseless Cream… it’s more fluffy/spongy. Try them out next time you’re at Sephora!
Christina says
I love the idea of using cream shadows for a base but these look awfully frosty! Can’t wait to see them in a look!
Karen says
They are pretty frosty. I’d probably just use these on the lid and in the inner corner because of the finish…
Meredith says
hmmm….what about staying power though?
I have had a lot of MUA recommend paint pots to me but they slide right off my lids no matter how little I use….
I am anxious to see how long they stay…I love the colors but am wary of wear-time.
Karen says
Hi Meredith,
Are you using a primer beneath your Paint Pots?
Meghan says
I love Cocker Spaniel… is it sort of like MAC’s Paint pot in “Rubenesque” because I do not own that and would like to have a base that color. Thanks Karen!
Karen says
Oh, it does kinda look like Rubenesque. I have that color and it’s slightly more melon on me… it’s a fun shade, especially for summer!
Anywho, have a great Wednesday!
Kaelin Chan says
Oh I do love my shimmery shadows. I’m itching to give Husky a try, looks like a lot of fun to play around with.
Karen says
Awesome, Kaelin! I hope you like them.
Heidi says
Cocker Spaniel & Collie look beautiful!
Karen says
They do! I think they’d be really pretty on the lid with a super thin line of black liquid liner on the upper lash line. Pop on two layers of mascara and oh-la-la!
AnieJ says
I think Collie would be the best bet for me, but I want a color-color, not just a base. Any suggestions from this line?
Karen says
You might want to go with something brighter then, like Bull Dog (a royal blue) or Schnauzer (a vivid violet plum).
Kelly says
Those are all super pretty, but I especially like Husky (coincidentally it’s also my favorite dog!) 🙂
Karen says
I had a husky when I was a kid and absolutely adored him. They’re great dogs!
Kelly says
So lucky! I’ve wanted one my entire life 🙂
Karen says
They’re very energetic… and unfortunately prone to running away. I’ve read so many stories about people letting their husky puppies go off leash and then the dogs just bolting. I guess they’re just doing what nature designed them to do.
Cassy says
Collie is like whoa there! with the sparkle, I like it. My mystery mutts are part Cocker Spaniel, though, so I do have a special place in my heart for that one.
Karen says
Gotta love the mystery mutts. 🙂
How about a shade called Pound Puppy? I’d be all over that one too.
Nina says
im liking the baby blue and the baby pink — so spring!
Karen says
Yes! With a little bit of pale pink gloss… yum!
Carrie says
Husky is really pretty (just like the dogs). The others look easy to dupe.
Karen says
Yes… just like the dogs. 🙂
heidi says
I want collie so bad! That’s beautiful. Husky’s pretty too but I have blue eyes and I think collie would make them pop. How quickly do they dry? Is it slow enough to blend?
Also I would totally buy a cat line. My simese, russian blue, calico, mix Sugar agrees with Tabs. They could stick with breeds, tabby could be a deep brown, persian stark white, simese a pale highlight… it would be brilliant. Or they could name them things like kitty nip, purr, or whiskers… there’s a whole market of crazy cat ladies who would adore it.
Karen says
Hi Heidi,
I need to spend some more time playing with these but from the swatches I’ve noticed that you do get some leeway in the drying time.
BTW, what a cute name for a kitty! I had a neighbor who had a cat named Sugar and she was so playful and outgoing.
Cassy says
Oh no! I think I messed up because my comment disappeared. They’ve been doing that lately :/ I am partial to Cocker Spaniel, though, because my mystery mutts are part cocker (the rest mystery, lol)
Nena says
I love the idea for Mystery Mutt! I’d wear it.
Karen says
LOL, me too!
Dharti says
I like cocker spaniel. I like Collie too but I have a similar shade. It’s copper I think – by VS. Have you tried their loose powder eye shadows? They are really good – easy to blend, very pigmented, and stay for about 6 hrs on me without any primer or attempt at not touching my eyes 😀 And they are only $7 ish.
I have a question about these though – I love husky but I don’t like all over blue lids. Do you think these would work well with a brush as eyeliners?
Karen says
Hi Dharti,
You could probably rock these as liner if you used a stiff brush. You probably couldn’t a line that’s as crisp as you would with a gel liner like MAC Fluidline, but you could still do it.
Dharti says
Thanks! 🙂 I think I’ll go check these out this week.
vonnie says
collie is soooo pretty!
Karen says
Yes it is!
Amanda says
I like cocker spaniel best in the pot, and collie best of the swatches. i have one of the orignal 10 (pug? i think-it’s a silvery taupe) and like it well enough to get another if there is a color I LOVE. But I am starting to feel a little….saturated by my stuff. gasp! I know, I know.
Karen says
I don’t believe it! How is that even possible? LOL
This coming from a girl who obsessively collects pink gloss like it’s going out of style…
gio says
husky is beautiful! But I’m not a fan of cream eyeshadows, they always crease horribly on me!
Karen says
Hi Gio,
Do you layer a primer beneath them?
House Of Photo Props says
Husky is super cute!
Karen says
Yup!
Tara says
I guess I will be doing a Sephora order!! I have to get my paws on Husky!!! It totally matches my huskies eyes!! This is a must have for me!! Thanks for the info Karen!!
Karen says
You should do your eye makeup with this and take a pic with your dog, aww!
Tara says
That’d be super cute! Good idea, I’ll have to get on that! 🙂
Christy says
I would get Collie…only because I have one 😉 She’s a Sheltie specifically named Liberty 🙂
Karen says
You must! If you don’t Liberty would be heartbroken, LOL!
kana says
They’re all beautiful colors! I am loving the doggie names, but i do agree we need more cats or maybe just different types of animals! (i’m a suckerfor animals, hehe)
Karen says
I’d like more kitty representation too! 🙂
Beautiful Canvas says
I like Collie!
Karen says
Me too!
Ali says
Husky and Sheepdog = <3
Karen says
Yay!
Kate & Zena says
Buxom needs to make Rat Terrier and Decker Terrier shades! Zena isn’t represented! I need to wear Zena!
(But, don’t tell Zena, I secretly love the Sheepdog and Collie ones).
Karen says
I promise to keep it a secret. 😉
Ariel says
Pretty– reminds me of a beach vacation.
Karen says
Yes, it does. I wouldn’t mind taking these on a tropical trip!
Suji says
I’m intrigued by the texture of these – will have to swatch these when I find them. Lately when I don’t have much time to do my makeup I’ll just dab on some cream shadow on my lids then follow with eyeliner & mascara. I may look into these!
Karen says
Hi Suji,
They feel really neat — almost like a marshmallow.
BTW, have you checked out NARS Spring yet? They have a really great shadow pencil called Hollywoodland that’s great for mornings when you need to rush.
bisbee says
I have 3 of the original colors – Black Lab (for a smokey eye), Mutt (bronze-taupe) and Pug (pewter). Mutt and Pug are my go-to shadows – and they actually last all day on me – even without a primer (but I normally do use a primer). I thought the amount was ridiculously tiny…but they last forever! They are shimmery, but not over-the-top – although I’d love it they would come out with some other finishes – not necessarily matte, but a satin would be nice.
The texture is wonderful, and I highly recommend buying the “special” brush – it’s absolutely perfect for applying these, although most likely any cream shadow brush would work, but this one is shaped perfectly, and is a little more “plush” than my other cream shadow brushes, which seems to work well with the spongy texture!
Karen says
Thanks for the heads up Bisbee. I’ll have to look into Pug. It sounds like a color I’d probably like.
C says
I have Mutt and I love it! It’s the only eye shadow I’ve found that stays on my oily lids (and yes, I use a primer but this is the only shadow that works).
Soo says
Husky and Cocker Spaniel are gorgeous
Emma says
I agree, I love both of those. I’m not even big on blue but Husky so beautiful.
Tori says
My favorite color is lime green and that one is the shih tzu and my doggy IS a shih tzu! :3 perfect!
Tanya^^ says
OMG…I really want these!!!
