Every girl’s gotta have one in her rotation of makeup looks — a go-to smokey eye, cheek and lip combo.
Here’s My Smokey Eye, Cheek and Lip Combo — What’s Yours?
My combo’s quick and easy (you know me), and I wear it to family functions and semi-formal events when I want to look mature and put together. 😉
Eyes: Brown smokey eyes with a touch of dark green
Cheeks: Peach cheeks
Lips: Coral lips
How to get the look:
On my eyes, I’ll use the Chanel Winter Nights quad ($56) and a black pencil (preferably waterproof) like Lancome Le Stylo in Noir ($23). I like MAC Sunbasque blush on my cheeks ($18; can also be used as a bronzer), a lovely gilded peach with pearl (think sun-kissed cheeks!), and the lips take a combination of three products: MAC Sublime Culture Cremestick liner ($14.50), Chanel Zanzibar Aqualumiere Lipstick ($26) and Chanel Glossimer in Gazelle ($26).
What’s your favorite smokey eye, cheek and lip combo?

hi karen!
montreal weather is crazy today (16 degrees celsius, it’s supposed to be around 0 right now, and it was, until yesterday!)
this is my go-to look if i want to feel all smolderingly sexy and model-like (even with my average height of 5’7″ – after all that’s what high heels are for!)
eyes: charcoal/silver/black smokey eye lined with either a navy blue or forest green eyeliner on top and bottom, black mascara and sometimes false lashes(if i’m performing or if i feel particularly bold)
cheeks: highlighter along cheekbone and a pink-brown bronzer in the hollows, i don’t want to look flushed, just ubersculpted
lips: a nude pink lip
how-to:
after concealing wherever needed – apply a highlighter like benefit high beam along cheekbones and brow bones and blend. apply a nude base shadow, such as PUPA natural eyes mat mono eyeshadow in 01 all over the eyelid and up to the brow bone. apply a silver shadow like shiseido silverscape shadow duo over the lid and up to the crease, and on the bottom lashlines and inner/outer corners; blend to diffuse. add a charcoal, such as benefit craeaseless cream eyeshadow in skinny jeans over the lid and in the outer corner; add the blackest black in crease and along lash line to finish – i like benefit creaseless cream in towne car or MAC black tied. rim eyes with a waterproof gel or liquid eyeliner (my pick: bobbi brown sapphire shimmer or ivy shimmer ink), slightly making it look like a cat eye. add a non-orange bronzer, like benefit 10, in the hollows of the cheeks, and top off with a nude pink lip (i like l’oreal color riche in tawny topped off with diorkiss in hazelnut lychee.
ps – for flashdance hair, my hair was HUUUGE (because it’s so long) and needed about a half can of hairspray and volumizing gel AND TEASING. at the end of the night i had the hardest time un-teasing it. go figure.

Eyes: I like the classic black smokey eye with some gray. I usually use the BE Rocker Eye Kit. That make it pretty idiot proof 🙂
Cheeks: I usually use a pretty, natural pink blush with a little bit of coral in it like MAC’s Pinch Me.
Lips: I try to go really natural. I usually just use some Burt’s Bees or plain gloss.
How to get the look: I’m messy so I do my eyes first. Apply a primer. Follow the directions on the package for BE 😛 You get three colors. First take the gray color and put it on your lid, then you take the sparkly gray color and put it in your crease. Make sure that it’s blended well. Then use a liner brush and use the black and line your top lid and bottom. Sometimes I take a regular black eyeliner and do my water line too, just so it’s a little more intense. Also apply mascara. I like to use CoverGirl lash blast. Sometimes, I’ll take a little bit of shimmery white shadow and put it on the inside corner of my eyes. I just think it makes you look more awake.
Clean up whatever mess you made on your face, then put on foundation, concealer, and set with a light powder. Apply your blush. I usually smile really huge and put it on the apples of my cheeks. Also I usually put on a tiny bit up toward my hairline. I have no idea why, I think I read that in a mag once and kept doing it.
Lastly, apply your lip balm or gloss and you’re good to go.
Sorry if my directions are hard to understand, this is why I read beauty blogs and I’m not a beauty blogger 😀

Hi Ines,
What a pretty eye look! I’ll have to give it a go. 🙂
LOL regarding the big hair. I remember having trubs detangling back in the day.

Hi Brittany,
Your how-to is great! I haven’t tried that kit, but will check it out when I go to Sephora. I’m all about idiot proof!

Eyes: Brown & Gold Smoky Eye using Dior’s Earth Reflection (609) or the Ludwig Palette by Kat Von D; Gold Medal by EverydayMinerals as glitter. Guerlain Terracotta Loose Kohl in Brun Dore for my waterlines, and Clinique Black Honey cream liner. DiorShow Blackout is my current favourite mascara 🙂
Cheeks: I use the Chickpea blush from Buff’d cosmetics. It’s a nice, tan-peach with light shimmer

How to get the look:
Eyes: Apply primer (I Use TFSI). Dark brown shadow all over the lid, stopping below the crease. Taupe shadow overlaying dark brown shadow, and into crease. Blend well. Lightly apply loose gold shadow to middle of eyelid and blend outwards. Apply hilight shade just below brow. Tightline with Guerlain kohl, and Clinique Black honey to upper line.

Eyes: MAC Sable and Romantique. Urban Decay’s Sin.
Cheeks: Nars Deepthroat or MAC Gleeful
Lips: MAC lipgloss in Lust or Urban Decay lipstick in Lovechild
How to get the look:
for the eyes, i swipe romantique (it was limited, but it’s just a very light pink) all over the lid. i put sin in the inner corner of my eye and a very light swipe on my browbone. then i make a deep V with the sable, into the crease and lining my eye. sometimes for added effect i dab mac’s b-rich (a deep chocolate brown with a bit of shimmer) right on the outer corner. looots of eyeliner and mascara.
for the cheeks, i dust a bronzer from underneath my apples to my temples, and add either of those blushes to the apples of my cheeks, depending on how pale i am 😛
lips also depend on how dramatic i wanna go. lovechild is very pink, where as lust is pretty nude, but both can work real well 🙂
so basically, my smokey look is all about the purple and pink
Sylvie says
Eyes: Blue, green and champagne.
Bare Study paint pot as base and highlighter. Warm chill as all over lid colour. Cool Heat as inner and outer corner colour. Fly-by-Blu pearlglide liner smudged on top and below and layered thinly over with Cool Heat. Dior Iconic mascara
Cheeks: shimmery peach
Margin and/or the warm blush from Color Forms (if it’s a cold day, I skip Margin).
Lips:
Gingeroot cremestick liner + 40’s Pink lipstick (Mattene) + Givenchy Pop Gloss Crystal 403 Pop Rose (well it’s a mini GWP and it’s not rose at all, it’s peach).
OR Dabbing lightly Del Rio on the lips. It’s a stained effect.
And I think Britney Spears might have gotten her Womanizer video’s makeup inspiration from your smokey eye picture. I don’t know if it’s a compliment for you or not. Point is, it’s a sexy look for the eyes.

Eyes: loving the new chanel beiges eye quad for a brown smokey look.

Eyes: Dark blue with some black and beige
Cheeks: Soft pink
Lips: Medium-dark pink
How to get the look: I usually start with a champagne-coloured shadow all over the lid, up to the browbone. Then I line the eye (upper lid and waterline) with a black or navy blue eye pencil, and go over the line on the upper lid with a lot of shimmery dark blue eyeshadow. The blushes and lipcolours depend on my mood and what I’m wearing, so there’s no specific combo.
Karen says
Hi Allie,
Hey, I think I just might have all of these colors! I’ll have to try this. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Nell,
Pretty! How are you liking that Chanel palette?
Karen says
Hi Justine,
I go through phases of “mascara favorites” too. Blackout is a good one!
Thanks for sharing your look. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Rachel,
I love purple smokey eyes and pink lips. You can never go wrong with that combo. I’ve never used Urban Decay lipsticks. What are they like?
Karen says
Hi Sylvie,
LOL, I’m totally TEAM BRITNEY so I’ll take this as a complement. I haven’t seen the video yet (been living under a rock for the last month) so I’ll find it on youtube so I can check out her look.
Btw, love the description of the eye look here. Sounds really pretty!

Eyes: classic black and grey
Cheeks:barely there
Lips:nude gloss
How to get the look:__________
line upper lash line with black pencil, makeup forever auqa eyes, then smudge. Apply grey on lid. My current fave is urban decay revolver, a matte. Put a highlight shade in the crease-lorac persuasion (mac shroom is a dupe of this color). Use an angled brush to line lower lash line with revolver. Add mascara (using tarte’s new one, the natural something or other-love!!)
cheeks-lightly dust with either sue devitt koh samui or cargo catalina-depending on my mood. on is a barely there nude/tan, the other light pink.
Best lipgloss EVER for nude lips: Fresh sugar kiss.
second favorite is purple smokey, using mac’s violet pigment. I also love green smokies.
Amanda says
oh! I left out a step for the eyes:
go over the smudged pencil liner with a black shadow….

Eyes: black and gray eye shadows with lots of layers of mascara. I prefer mineral pigments for the look.
Cheeks: peachy brown or pink blush.
Lips: nude!
How to get the look: the way I do my smokey eyes is quite traditional, starting with the black liner (I blogged about it before.) I love Shu blush in P 76 Brown, it’s very soft and looks good with everything. My favorite lipstick for smokey eyes is High Tea. (I could have written more with more details but I’m so wigged out today!)
