I’ve always been a doe-foot gal, myself. Especially the flat ones. Flat doe feet, so to speak, like the long, skinny, flat ones that come with the new Gloss Prodiges from Clarins.
Why? The reason’s not very scientific, I’m afraid. 🙂 I just like the way they work.
So I take the foot and stick it in my mouth…
Wait — let me try that again.
I take the doe foot, and place it between my kisser, point first, so that the flat sides cover the surface of both my top and bottom lips. Then, I slide it back and forth.
Pretty basic…
By the way, since we’re on the subject of these Gloss Prodiges, I like that I don’t need a mirror to apply the lighter shades like Water Lily. They’re just that sheer. But for the darker shades like Vibrant Rose, I do like to check that I’m at least close on the application, LOL! The reflective surface on my iPhone’s screen will usually suffice. 🙂

Doe foot, definitely! It’s easiest to use, I agree.

I’m a doe-foot gal, too. But I like it to be angled at the tip, like a lipstick. I apply it the same way. And then, like everything else, I rub my lips together compulsively until there is nothing left or, what is, has become a dried, flaky mess. 🙂

I ADORE these Clarins glosses, they are simply the best and Water Lily now lives in my makeup bag.

I like a doe foot – but I don’t use it the way you do – I put the gloss on the bottom lip first, and then the top – just like lipstick. I don’t think it’s meant to be used the way you use it – of course, it’s totally up to you – but I think I get a more even coat one lip at a time.
Karen says
Heya Bisbee,
I’m pretty sure that’s not standard issue doe foot protocol, either, LOL! I only do it with the long, skinny ones from Clarins out of plain ol’ laziness…

I’m a doe-foot girl too. So easy to use!

I like the hourglass doe foots the best. Like the Sephora collection ones. It seems to me that the hourglass shape fits perfectly and easily glides on the color with no nasty stickyness outside your mouth that makes me go ew. LOL

I actually like the brush applicator best but they fall out sometimes so I would say doe foot because I don’t seem to have many problems with it.
Like the beaute lipgloss I love but the applicator on the Nyx Megashine is awesome, although the brush seems to pick up little it goes a long way.
Hugs.

Definitely doe foot. Anything else just makes it harder to put on the gloss! Vibrant Rose is calling my name! What a perfect Spring/Summer color! My wallet is going to hate me by the time summer rolls around! :]

Doe-foot all the way!

Absolutely doe foot! I loathe brushes, they actually make me kind of angry LOL! I especially love the hourglass shaped doe foot applicator in the Sephora lip glosses. They are so smooth and apply like heaven. I also hate squeeze tubes. I won’t even buy them anymore. They get so gloopy and gross. I’ve actually decanted them into empty tubes with a doe foot applicator just so I can use them.
m w says
how do you decant them? pray tell, ive been wanting to do that for a while!
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
Definitely love a doe-foot. I will never understand why brands release those dang brush applicators. They always splay and are rough and gross…ugh! 😛 The doe-foot for Chanel’s Rouge Allure Extrait de Glosses are one of my favorites. It has a flocked, slightly flattened shape and it is SO nice and really effective!
Rola says
I saw these and I really want to explore Clarins makeup more. The Spring colors are just too pretty.
Jay @ Wayfaring Beauty says
Doe foot first, squeeze tube second! I need foolproof applicators and these seem best for that, plus they distribute color so evenly. I always get outside my lips with brushes if I don’t have a mirror and then feel like I’m a hot mess. Pass on that situation!
TrippyPixie says
I love brush applicators, like on MAC Dazzleglasses. Doe foot applicators just never cooperate with me!
Dollie says
Doe foot for sure. I like the shape of the YSL glossy stain applicator…helps in precise application.
Joanna says
I some how prefer the brush.

I like squeeze-tubes. I think they’re the cleanest. Wands are easy to miss the hole in the tube and make a mess.

Brush all the way please!! I have never gotten fallen bristles and the likes, but I only ever use Chanel and Guerlain as well as Dior lip-glosses, so I am in the dark about falling bristles. YET. I like brushes for the simple purpose it gives more precision and you can paint crisper and sharper lines. ESP for those pigmented dark glosses. It is my personal preference, but not many brands tend to have brushes as their applicators, so it is a nice surprise when it happens to be in a brush form in the colour and brand I love.
Leila says
Brushes, doe-foot and plastic spatula that you tend to see in Asian brands. I suppose it’s more a question of what don’t you like? I don’t know how squeeze tubes have any advantages over the others when it comes to application, except that they don’t need reloading.
I suppose I like brushes slightly more than the rest since they hold more gloss so I don’t have to keep dipping. I’ve only used Dior and Guerlain’s though and they are silky smooth. They also make it easier to layer gloss over lipstick.
I don’t like conventional doe-foot applicators that are round, they need to be flat. Two that stand out to me are Chanel’s Extrait de Gloss applicators and at the other end of the spectrum, L’Oreal’s Glam Shine flat heart-shaped applicators.

I like the large doe-foot ones, like the Mac Emancipation lipglass had (WW collection) 🙂
