What an Alluring Blush! I Can’t Resist Illamasqua’s Powder Blusher in Allure

“A lure…? Like a fishing lure?”

No, silly! Allure. Like alluring, as in the new Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Allure, a dusky, rosy pink with sand-sized flecks of golden glitter.

It’s part of the new 12-piece Illamasqua Generation Q collection, which I haven’t spotted at Sephora yet, but I saw it online over at illamasqua.com.

Lots of bold eye and lip colors in the launch…

What do you think of these model shots from the campaign? Aren’t they great? Very edgy and real.

As for the blush? love Gorgeous! I wasn’t sure what to expect based on that swatch down there, but I love how natural it looks, as long as I apply it with a light touch.

The little flecks of glitter don’t really show up very well in these pics (I tried!), but they’re there…doing their glittery thing.

Allure kinda reminds me of NARS Taos but with bigger flecks of glitter. Should be a beautiful blush on a wide range of skin tones, but lighter lovelies might want to try applying it with a fan brush to lay down a light layer.

Tanned temptresses, I hope you decide to give Allure a try; I bet it’ll look bangin’ with your tan. :)

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Im getting the lipstick in Magnetism from this collection!!!

From what I have read around the Internet, Generation Q is designed for moms and older ladies looking to add some punch to their makeup. That’s why the models aren’t twenty-somethings. For me that’s really cool. They acknowledge that some 80s rock stars/groupies never let go of their partying side.

I’m grabbing the Creator (black glitter) nail polish and Magentism (raspberry pink) lipstick as soon as it hits stores. I want to go bold and rock out for every occasion this fall!

      I think that’s super cool too. :)

Not exactly. The models used in the Generation Q campaign range in age from 21 up to 72. The point of the Generation Q campaign is to show that most makeup products are suitable for women of ALL ages (regardless of how the company markets it). Individual products should be selected based on skin type, skin tone, and one’s personal makeup “style,” not age. I think Illamasqua decided to do this because women have been made to believe once you reach a specific age, you can no longer use color, or black eyeliner, or glitter, or…. In fact, it’s all about assessing how the aging process is reflected on YOUR face (throughout your life, not just when you turn 30, or 40, or whatever), and adapting your application techniques so that your makeup still reflects your personal style and looks good – as opposed to having to follow a bunch of arbitrary “rules” just because you’re a certain age.

I effin love the model photos from this collection – makes me want to save up and buy the whole damn thing. Not this blush tho, I’m just too pale (and, let’s be fair, I own a freaking wardrobe of Illamasqua blushes. As a total aside I’d love for them to do a cooler brown contouring color, freals!).

  4. Michelle says:

So pretty, love it! What are you wearing on your lips and eyes in those pics? Gorgeous look :)

    • Karen says:

      Hi Michelle,

I’m wearing a Magnetism Lipstick and Opulent Lipgloss, which are both from the Generation Q collection.

On my eyes I’m wearing a bunch of things, but mostly the LORAC Pro Palette. :)

  5. Love your eyes, Karen! Allure looks mega hot on you! I’m just not too sure about the glitter, and my tan will mostly probably be gone for a long time soon. Gah. The mere thought is very depressing!

Would you be able to do a post on your winged liner technique? I have small eyelids and have a really hard time with it. Yours looks so perfect in these pics!

  8. Lauren says:

I wanna be just like the lovely ladies in the promo images when I grow up ;)
Too many women do the “I’m too old to wear this” routine, including my mother, and I don’t ever want to be one of them. I love Illamasqua for showing REAL women looking beautiful and radiant at all ages. I keep telling my mom she’s way too young to stop wearing what she wants. Age ain’t nuttin’ but a number! ;)

Love what you have on your lips! I have been stalking sephora’s website with no luck. I want the creator polish. It is black and it sparkles, so very me!

  12. Stephanie says:

omg – are those fine lines i see around the model’s eyes? about dang time! that lippie is gorge on you.

  13. Judith DM says:

As an ‘older’ woman, I do love some of the colors. As an ‘older’ woman I avoid too much glitter or sparkle, which can be very aging. As for the models, they are fine, but I have never seen such terrible lighting in any cosmetic ad or presentation EVER! Embarassing to the company in my opinion. Too much shine, not well blended, not looking for airbrushed perfection, but something better than this!

  14. Kim says:

It’s funny but that blush is the item that caught my eye in your pics. :)

And speaking of fishing lures (even though you really weren’t), I was almost hooked by one while boogie boarding. I thought my friend was yelling to tell me about the awesome wave that was coming. Turns out he was trying to warn me about a huge lure that almost snagged me.

  18. Illamasqua is amazing – I really look forward to seeing their campaign photos. They have such a wonderful way of being very dramatic and different than other companies.

I’ve tried the two polishes from this collection (Charisma and Creator) – both are incredible. Love, love, love this brand! They push boundaries in amazing ways.

I love illamasqua! Such gorgeous products in this collection, I want the Aurora Gleam Cream!

  23. Lori says:

I love that you can see the makup and the real person in the shots. Retouched images are beautiful but hardly ever realistic when it comes to how a cosmetic product will actually look but these finally capture it! Beautiful!

  24. kimkats says:

OMG – Models that are over the age of majority??? And not airbrushed into oblivion?! I’m stunned… the only sad thing is that you would *never* see a US based company do that… They’re all too tied into the uber “yute” (see “My Cousin Vinny” if you don’t get the reference) thing to even consider doing something like that, but DANG!!! It makes me want to patronize Illamasqua like a fiend! An aged fiend, granted, but apparently they’re good with that!!

The top gal in teh photo with the crazy hair is gorg!! Wish I could pull off a look like that!

AWESOME stuff – that blush is awesome on you btw….
