10 reasons why Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Pink Explosion will blow your mind…
- It’s an explosion! Of Pink! Seriously — Pink Explosion — how could you not love that name?
- Looks so lovely with Hourglass Fever lipstick. (I’m just saying…)
- Also goes great with NARS Angelika Lip Gloss, which is what I’m wearing in these pics.
- Actually…now that I think about it, it goes great with errrthing. I’ve been wearing it regularly for the past month in a bunch of different eye/lip combos, and I can’t remember ever thinking that it didn’t work well with a look.
- The secret squirrel micro-glitter (you can only see it if you get up really close) will make you feel like you’re getting an extra large scoop of Chanel special sauce.
- If you’re feeling extra crabby with a side of cranky, Pink Explosion will make you look like you don’t have a care in the world, so maybe then somebody nice and cute will walk up to you and start a conversation about something light and fun, and then you’ll temporarily forget your crabbiness. 🙂
- It smells like roses! — so you’ll be reminded of the last time someone surprised you with a huge bouquet of flowers (hopefully it wasn’t too long ago).
- It’s so powerfully pretty that it can even cancel out the memory of needing the Jaws of Life to get into your skinny jeans this morning.
- And not having to spend a ton of time carefully blending out any edges means you’ll have time left over to look for a purr-fect faux leopard-print Christmas coat.
- Did I mention it’s Chanel?
Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Pink Explosion ($45) is a neutral, medium-toned matte pink powder blush with magical micro-glitter (looks like a satin finish on the skin) and a 7-hour wear time. Versatile, easy to blend and layer, it gets along with just about everyone, from lighter lasses to darker divas, and I am WICKED obsessed with it at the moment!
And you need to be, too. 🙂
It’s available now at Chanel counters and chanel.com.
The long-running Unsung Heroes series features some of my favorite permanent collection products from a variety of bodacious beauty brands.
The Netflix Files: I’m Finally Making Some Sense and Sensibility
I know it’s a ’90s classic, but I’d never seen it before yesterday.
What a movie! It’s based on Jane Austen’s book of the same name.
Beautifully directed by Ang Lee, the movie stars Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Alan Rickman, Hugh Grant and about a zillion other good actors.
One of my issues with period pieces is that sometimes I have trouble keeping up with the dialogue, especially when they’re using Shakespearean or Victorian English.
But this one’s totally easy to follow.
And it’s loaded with shady business! Drama with a capital D. Don’t be surprised to find yourself yelling your favorite playa’-hating catchphrases at the telly.
I can see why Emma Thompson won an Academy Award for writing the screenplay. Girlfriend did an excellent job.
After I finished watching it I had a sudden urge for tea and biscuits…
Check it out one of these days if you haven’t already.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

This one is awesome! Chanel makes a lot of great blushes that don’t look all that special in the pan, but are totally magical on the cheeks! I still use my Rose Initiale all the time 🙂
I have seen Sense and Sensibility but it was a long time ago. Reading about this makes me want to do it again!
Littlewing says
Karen, you look stunning! I had to quit reading your blog a few years ago because my wallet couldn’t handle it. May I just say you have only gotten lovelier and you must be drinking unicorn’s blood because you haven’t aged a day!
fancie says
What a cute blush! It looks really natural too. I need to finally try a powder Chanel blush
Kwmechelle says
I love period pieces. Can we say Downton Abbey! Historic fiction is my genre of choice. Totally gonna watch this movie because I’ve never seen it 🙂
Agata says
That blush is super pretty. I don’t have any Chanel blushes. I see your hair is looking gorgeous too.
I love movies based on Jane Austin’s books! We watched them in college for our English Literature class.

This is so gorgeous! I’m obsessed with the Chanel JC.

I’m trying not to fall deeply in love with Chanel Blushes. I just watched Pride and Prejudice after a good conversation about bringing back cravats for menswear.
Xuvious says
It looks so pretty on you! I only have a creme Chanel blush but I’ve always wanted to try one of these.
Eesha says
I skipped this one and picked up Malice instead and now I regret not taking it! This one sure gonna be my next JC blush.
LindaLibraLoca says
I don’t own any Chanel blush (or other makeup item, now that I think of it). My collection needs to grow!
But I love Sense and Sensibility. When growing up, my mother gave me Jane Austen and the Bronte-Sisters as a read, to improve my english. Perfect lecture for a 14 year old girl longing for romance and Drama with a capital D.
Now that I think of it, I haven’t changed much since then.

Pretty, but anything rose scented is a deal breaker. My hubby is very allergic to that scent. Plus, if it’s too heavy, it can agitate my skin.
Kiss & Make-up says
Puh-reeeeeeeh-tay! Chanel sure knows how to make a pretty blush.
Karen says
They are SO GOOD when it comes to cheek color. I could happily wear this shade and Malice for weeks, months… heck, maybe even years. Have you tried Malice? It’s absolutely beautiful.
Kiss & Make-up says
I swatched it! And I loved it. Didn’t buy it though. I was/am on a bit of a shopping ban.
Kim says
You can’t make me – I’m already addicted to Malice – there is no more room in my little, black heart. 😉
Btw, our orange boy is named Willoughby. He’s a bit of a scoundrel, too. He licks the girls’ ears/faces and then, out of nowhere, bites. Thankfully we don’t have a Marianne, so none of our clever kitties are taken in by him. 🙂
Karen says
There is always more room for Chanel. <3 <3 <3
What a purr-fect name for a handsome marmalade boy. Of course as I'm typing this my tabby thug walked into the room and started meowing. He's been very vocal lately, complaining about this and that. I think it's the rain! For some reason it makes him more talkative.
Is Willoughby very affectionate with you and the kids?
Ankita@corallista says
So pretty! Now I’m confused between this and Malice!
Karen says
Um, how about both?!
Ankita@corallista says
You’re such an enabler Karen 🙂 My wallet is not going to be happy!

I’ve been dying to pick up Innocence, but something sparklier typically ends up obscuring my view. Pink Explosion is classic and looks beautiful on your smiling face, perhaps it’s another one to be added to the always growing makeup list.
