GURL, you don’t even know. My usual plan of attack when I go to Ulta (or Sephora, or Target, or CVS, or any other place where I can physically pick up makeup and drop it into a basket or cart) goes like this: if I can’t carry it to the register with my own two hands, it’s not leaving the store with me.
This usually prevents the urge to keep throwing stuff (and by “stuff,” I mean everything and the kitchen sink) into my basket.
Usually.
It didn’t work the last time I went to Ulta.
(Long story…)
Here are the products I picked up and which ones I’m loving (and not loving) from that visit.
Products mentioned…
- Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex Hand & Body Scrub, $9.99
- Shea moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Bath and Body Massage Oil, $9.99>
- Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sun Bronze, $4.99
- Maybelline Brow Drama in Deep Brown, $7.99
- Covergirl Natural Lash in Clear, $5.99
- Anastasia Brow Wiz in Dark Brown, $21
- Hot Tools Black Hair Pins, $3.49
As always, thank you again for watching!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Have you been to Ulta lately? What should I grab on my next trip?
Agata says
I need to try these Shea Moisture products and the Rimmel bronzer.
I just went to Ulta on Saturday. I picked up the NYX intense butter glosses 🙂
Karen says
Hi Agata,
Sweet! What shades did you get? Did you find any other treasures?
Agata says
I got Tres Leches and Funnel Delight, totally because of you!
The main reason I went to Ulta was to get the steal of the day which was the UD Primer Potion for only $10! I also got a new Essie nail polish.
Katie says
Karen, you are ADORABLE. (You really do carry a Reese Witherspoonian likeness.) Even when you’re feeling “so-so” about a product. Ulta needs to swap those products on account of your adorableness.
Anyway, I am so happy you love *my* Ulta ride or die products, the Brow Wiz and the Shea Moisture Superfruit scrub. Did you know Ulta now carries a Shea Moisture Tahitian Noni & Monoi scrub that smells even 50x better than the Superfruit?! It comes in a neon green I know you and Tabs would wholeheartedly approve.
Karen says
Hi Katie,
You’re too sweet. Funny that you mention the Reese Witherspoon thing… I get that a lot, LOL.
That Tahitian Noni scrub sounds WONDERFUL! Officially on my list, along with some stuff from It Cosmetics. 😀
If you have any other Ulta recs, holla! And have a wonderful week, ok?

I haven’t seen your video *yet* as it’s in my YT playlist so it’ll come up soon but I wanted to drop a quick note saying thanks for the vids as I rarely comment on YT. Well, I rarely comment, actually. Perhaps I should start more? I digress…also, not a fan of those ad vids automatically playing when I view a blog – just saying!
I’m canadian so Ulta is a highlight of any stateside visits – definitely looking forward to checking out the IT Cosmetics brushes, etc when I come down soon. Hopefully you’ll have a review of their products and brushes in the future!
Thanks for the awesome blog and now awesome vids 😀

I bought the best of becca set at Ulta, more UD primer potion in sin (it was their deal of the day for $10 I couldn’t pass) and some Umberto Beverly hills hair dye (I have repurchased this multiple times). I visit Ulta wayyyy too much. Really close to my work and when I take my dog to the park there is one on the way home -_-
I also recently purchased a new Zoya polish in Sage (one of their new satins) and it is super pretty! I also bought this Orly nail hardener since I am rough on my hands so we will see how that goes.
The Shea moisture stuff you picked up looks good!
Oh and I wanted a NYX Intense butter gloss (thanks to your post) but my Ulta’s were all sold out! They have been really cleaned out of NYX lately so I settled for a regular butter gloss instead.

I’ve had my eye on that Rimmel bronzer for some time. It’s a great brand so I have no idea why I haven’t picked it up yet. Will have to do that soon. I’ve visited Ulta a few times recently to get some items on sale during their 21 Days of Beauty event. Got the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara and UD eyeshadow primer potion for $10 each. Score!

You are so lovely Karen! I enjoy watching your videos. I like that bronzer buti should finish what I have. I am really digging your shirt. Are you using your laura mercier foundation or dior?

I do the exact same hands-only-no-basket shopping strategy too! That’s how I know the new OPI shine polishes don’t break easily. 😉 I picked up a whole bunch of lashes on my last trip to Ulta for my brother’s fiancée. I’m doing her makeup for their wedding and we’re practicing and messing around a lot – it’s so much fun! I also got some clear Maybelline mascara for brows, one Revlon HD lipstick and a couple of the new Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks. I have a hoarding problem but now I call it wedding makeup research…
Ginger says
Karen, can you break down your makeup look? It’s such a great spring look, and has a great glow! Also, what polish are you wearing? 🙂 Thanks!

That shea scrub sounds amazing…! I’m a sucker for anything shea, really. I wish we had ULTA here.

I totally love Ulta! I was just there last Friday to get the Clarisonic Mia that was on special. I ordered 4 of the Intense butter glosses and I’ve only worn tres leches. I wanted to let you know that the NYX Microbrow pencil is totally comparable with the Brow Wiz and much cheaper. I ordered 1 to try and it’s great! I also ordered 2 of the NYX HD blushes and I totally love them.

I have the exact same problem with that style of hair pin too – so glad I’m not the only one 🙂 my hair isn’t particularly unruly, but there is quite a lot of it and it’s very shiny so clips and pins tend to slide out really easily. I dream of an up do! I also have to do the no basket thing, but in superdrug and boots rather than sephora and ulta, being a UK-based make up obsessive. Thanks again for the great vid! Xoxo

Got my Ulta shipment yesterday! I totally bought those same two SheaMoisture products. I love their body (especially scrubs) and hair products and I’ve never tried their Superfruit one so I said why not at BOGO. I also ordered some NYX stuff and a deluxe sample of Becca’s Topaz Shimmering Skin Perfector. On the first day of their 21 Days of Beauty sale I ran in for the Best of Becca Collection. Love it!
Myriam says
Hi Karen may I know where did you get your shirt please? 🙂 its such a nice springy shirt i love it

Just back from Ulta and I picked up that Shea Moisture. I just opened it to get a whiff and buuuuuumer…. leave it to me to pick up the one that is all dried out and crusty 🙁 I’ll go exchange it tomorrow, I can’t wait to try it! With all the rain and cloudy skies this fruity mango concoction will help make it feel sunny out for sure!
