I’m not usually a sexy robot lips/metallic lipstick kinda gal, but Tom Ford’s Winter Soleil Lip Foils are making me love the look. The pearl particles are super fine, so my lips look like they’re glowing. It’s more of a glowing effect than a frost.
Tom’s Lip Foils are $53 each, which, yeah…is totally bananas. ??? But that’s Tom Ford.
I think they’re maybe more summery than wintry, but that’s OK. They also have that whole shimmery tinsel thing going, so I’m down.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. In my workout class this morning, someone asked how many days it was before Christmas. ?
Oh, my goodness! Seventeen! There are only SEVENTEEN DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS!
Are you ready…? Is anybody ready?? I know I’m not.
I am decorating my tree tonight, though, with Connor’s help (and managerial oversight from Tabs). The theme is green, red and gold this year, so we’re going with the classics.
How about you? Are you decorating a tree this year? If so what does it look like?
Jan K says
I thought they would be too frosty but they really are beautiful and comfortable. Not a bit of scratchy glitter anywhere. I really like Spanish Flame.
Karen says
Me too! Have you tried topping them with a little bit of gloss? Spanish Flame is gorgeous with a touch of golden pink in the center.
Happy (almost) Friday!
Divina says
Your eyes look GORGEOUS!!!!
Karen says
Thanks, Divina. I’m wearing shadows from a palette by Lily Lolo. Have you heard of them? I’m doing a brand spotlight piece on them soon, so look out for it.
LindaLibraLoca says
The tree only goes up a few days before Christmas here in Germany, so I will not be decorating any time soon. But I am in no way ready for Christmas yet, I think I have three gifts sorted out?
Karen says
How long do you guys keep the tree up? Does it stay up through the new year?
LindaLibraLoca says
Yes, it stays up until the 6th of January.
Kiss & Make-up says
Not my kind of finish. But you can pull it off!
I’m finding it hard to feel the Christmas spirit this year. This time last year I was feeling very jolly already. This year not so much, don’t know why. It just doesn’t feel like Christmas (yet).
Agata says
These lipsticks look beautiful but I wouldn’t spend $53 on a lipstick…
I am not ready for Christmas at all. The only gifts I have bought are gifts for my family in Poland and I already shipped them to them. Other than that, haven’t really had time to shop for anyone else.
Karen says
It’s bananas, I know!
Happy Friday to you. What are you doing this weekend?
Chelsea says
No tree this year because of a certain clumsy tailless kitty. She knocks over her cat tree every day, I can’t imagine doing a Christmas tree! Good thing I love her so much.
Karen says
Oh gosh, I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed with the hopes that Tabs doesn’t knock the tree down. We put it in a different spot this year (next to the windows, which is where he has his corner perch), and I just really hope that he doesn’t get frisky with the ornaments back there. I bought shatterproof ones so hopefully if he does tip the tree over they’ll stay intact.
Jessica says
very pretty but way, super way overpriced.
Karen says
Yeah, TF isn’t exactly discount, but I do have to say that the stuff I’ve tried and liked is outstanding.
Jessica says
did he use real gold in the packaging again?
what do you do with leftover packaging with actual gold in it? You can’t just recycle it.
Karen says
Hmm, I don’t think this packaging is actual gold! That would be cool if it was though!
Rachel says
I got a cheap pre-lit tree from target and it’s decorated. My shopping, on the other hand, is far from complete!
Karen says
Target has a lot of fun holiday stuff right now! You gotta hit it at the right time though, because when they are cleaned out they are CLEANED OUT. Did you go with a specific color theme with your decorations or did you do a mash up with different ornaments? I usually do mix and match but this year decided to stick to a red/green/gold theme. 🙂
Happy Friday!
Brooke Pakulski says
I loveeee Private Life! And, no… NOT ready for xmas at all… We’re half decorated… no where near done shopping… How did it creep up so fast?!
Karen says
I don’t know! The thing is, the same thing happens every year and I’m always so surprised with how fast the time goes. Seems like yesterday was Halloween!
Fran says
I never liked old-fashioned frosty lipsticks either (those frosty super-light pinks of my adolescence, ugh!), but I really like some of Tom Ford’s metallics, notably Stavros and Egon from last years Lips & Boys lineup. I’ve been eyeing these lipsticks from the Soleil collection, and can’t decide what to do — nowhere local for me to swatch them! I really like Seadragon and Venus Rising, but would feel more confident about how they’d look on me if they leaned cooler. I also really like Creme Conque, but don’t usually like the way light lipsticks look on me. I love the way these all look on you, Karen! So I can’t decide what to do — order from somewhere that will let me return them, I guess…
Karen says
Hey Fran,
I’m not a light metallic lipstick person either (well, not since the late ’90s), but I looove Creme Conque. Especially with the lightest touch of gloss on top.
Happy Friday to you! What are you doing this weekend?
Fran says
I really do want to try Creme Conque. Nothing special planned for the weekend. We’re having our first really cold weather of the season, but at least sunny weather is predicted for tomorrow, so I hope to get out for a good walk, then come home and bake cookies!
Chris25 says
I am NOT totally ready for Xmas! I plan on ordering some things next week.
Amber says
I’m loving how these look on you!! I love a good metallic lip, when it doesn’t look too 80s. I feel like I pull off glossy or metallic much easier than matte!
Lorraine. E.R says
I love metallic or “foil” shades but when it comes to lipstick that often translates to FROST.
These manage to look lightly metallic without looking total frosty but still…it is too fine a line for me.
Erin says
I loved them myself, any well done frost is good in my book. Also, BABY’S FIRST CHRISTMAS!
