In case you were wondering what conversations are like before you go to bed when you and your man have been together for 10 years…
El Hub: We should bake some chocolate chip cookies this weekend.
Me: YEAH WE SHOULD!
El Hub: Not those bullsh*t ones from the Toll House tube. They’re good —
Me: But they’re a little too sweet!
El Hub: … I was gonna say they all taste the same. But yeah, I guess they are a little too sweet. And they don’t have anything cool in them like M&Ms.
Me: Yuck! I don’t like M&Ms in my cookies…
El Hub: How can you not like M&Ms in your cookies?
Me: The crunchy shell. It’s just too much. It’s like it defies natural cookie law. I like my mine with semi-sweet chocolate chips. Sometimes with nuts. But not too nutty.
El Hub: You’re too nutty!
Me: Haha. I’ll get a bag of chocolate chips at the store tomorrow, and we’ll make cookies from scratch. It’s easy. We’ll just put M&Ms in yours and leave mine pristine and pure, the way chocolate chip cookies were meant to be. 🙂
No big surprise, but I woke up this morning craving cookies for breakfast.
The only ones we had in the house were the macarons I got at Bouchon Bakery yesterday in Yountville…
I guess they’ll have to suffice. We’ll need fuel for our trip to Sephora today.
Here, have one. Or two. We’ll need the sustenance. 🙂
Yes, we’re skipping work/school/watching the kids (just strap ’em in the stroller and bring ’em along!) to go look at makeup this morning. There are way too many great holiday noms on the shelves right now, and I refuse to go without you. You know the old saying: “Two makeup nerds are better than one.”
Let’s look around…
Oh, wow! — the six palettes in LORAC’s new Eye Candy Full Face Collection look like chocolate bars!
I love that…
Okay, now I need to take my mind off of food because my tummy’s rumbling…
I love these cute nail sets from Ciate and Sephora By OPI. I’m going through a phase where all I want to do on the weekends is paint my nails and nap.
These should do nicely!
OOH! Lots of cute stuff from Stila, Smashbox, Hello Kitty and Korres. Might be a good time to start crossing some of those gifts off your Christmas list. Or maybe snag something for yourself? Hey, you’ve been good (I’ve been watching).
That was fun!
We have to do this more often. How about next time I bring chocolate chip cookies instead? Let me know if you want yours with M&Ms or without. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. TGIF!
Kiss & Make-up says
Oh my, so much good stuff! 😀
Karen says
I know! I can barely contain myself, LOL!
Shauna says
Is it bad that I want all Lorac neutral palettes…? 😀
Karen says
The great thing is they come in a single kit! You CAN have all of ’em. 😀
Christine says
…I just got paid today and now I’m dreaming about how to spend it all at Sephora.
And M&Ms, please.
Karen says
With or without peanuts?
Christine says
Definitely without. That way there’s more room for chocolate.
Karen says
I like your logic. 🙂
Natasha says
OMG! Hello Kitty’s Wild Thing Palette! Putting that on the must-have list! It’s just too adorable!
Karen says
Don’t you just love the purples in that palette? 😀
Karen says
I am on the hunt for the LORAC pallette!! Love it!! and going to head to my Bouchon in Bev. Hills to get me some macarons you got me craving them now!!! xoxo
Karen says
Hi Karen,
YUM! While you’re there pick up a iced vanilla latte for me…my mom had one yesterday and it was amazing.
Lynn says
love the Lorac pallettes! they look like candy bars..yum!
I’m with you on the M&Ms in cookies thing..just don’t like it.
Karen says
I like to eat M&M’s by themselves, but in cookies…not so much. Gimme a bag of the peanut ones and I’m good, LOL!
Are you a sweet or semi-sweet chocolate chip kinda girl?
Hafsa says
Ahh m&ms for sure! But I can appreciate a good ol fashioned choco chip cookie too 🙂
Hyzenthlay says
I think I’ll have to make a trip to Sephora this weekend and check out all of these fun goodies! 🙂
Karen says
Definitely. You need to reward yourself for the half-marathon. 🙂
Hyzenthlay says
Thanks! Especially because the cowl-neck pullover that I really wanted, which was available only in the Finishers Boutique, sold out before I got there . . . So sad!
Lisa says
I bought the Lorac set when it first came out and I don’t find the colors to be as pigmented as they usually are. Anyone else think that?
Karen says
Hi Lisa,
Hmm, I thought the pigmentation seemed pretty good when I swatched it. I have yet to try it on my eyes, though.
Heidi says
Makeup kits that look like candy bars? GENIUS! I may have to splurge on that — looks like you get a lot of stuff for the price.
Oh, and I’ll definitely take some chocolate chip cookies, light on the nuts, pass on the M & M’s.
Karen says
I know…I want to hug the person who decided to marry chocolate bars with makeup palettes.
I saw that your man won Project Runway last night!
MJ says
Mm~ Bouchon macarons. :3 I love how we can totally see the color shift in your nail polish by the way. XD
I love the packaging for the LORAC Eye Candy Full Face collection. The swatches looks great too. 🙂
Karen says
Yeah, it’s a really cool color. Totally reminds me of a mermaid’s tail. 🙂
Happy, happy Friday! Got any exciting plans for the weekend?
MJ says
Mostly just relaxing and catching up on some studying this weekend, although I do get to see my brother and my sister-in-law today. 🙂 I haven’t seen them in awhile, so I’m looking forward to it. All of my excursions to the Bouchon in Yountville were with them! 🙂 My sister-in-law loves the NapaStyle store that’s there as well. ^^
Happy Friday to you too! Hope you have a great weekend! ^^
Sunny @ Mostly Sunny says
The Lorac palettes certainly look good enough to eat!!! Love this little virtual tour. I’d literally kill to be in a Sephora!
Karen says
Haha! That’s hard core, lady!
Melissa says
Those are sooooo cute! I might need to get myself to a Sephora store today.
Karen says
Hi Melissa,
You gotta go! There are so many new, fun treats to play with. Happy Friday!
Iris says
Such clever packaging for the LORAC palettes!
I shall try macarons someday. I’ve heard so many good things about them.
Karen says
They’re delicious. I’m looking forward eating the green one (pistachio!) for dessert tonight.
Hope you’re having a nice Friday!
Lisa Kay says
I saw the Lorac pallettes at Sephora the other day, loved them, and then realized they were all included in the price. Super good for gifts and then I don’t feel like a cheapskate giving out on Stila lip gloss which I’ve done before.
Marla says
You have given me such wonderful gift ideas. All of these are great!
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
Whenever you do these kinds of posts, I am always so amazed at how pretty and organized your Sephora is! The 3 closest to me are NOWHERE near as good. One is quite small and messy, one is bigger but doesn’t have all those pretty displays like yours has, and the third is pretty big but still doesn’t look as nice. :/
Tennyoceres says
I saw those Lorac palettes in Sephora too. First thing I thought, “Oooh Lorac chocolate! Makeup and chocolate my favorite things let’s see how it tas…It’s not chocolate =(” Clever packaging though. I might snag a few to confuse my female relatives on my Christmas list.
The Ciate gigantor nail polish gift set is my consideration. I’m thinking I’ll split that gift set into pairs or triplets for small gifts/stocking stuffers. Maybe throw in some shades in my stash I’ve outgrown? I kind of have a reputation as the nail polish lady in the family. I also need to save money while I’m at it.
Did you go to the Sephora in San Francisco? As busy as that location is I love the thorough organization and ample walking space it has.
OrangeLipstickBlog says
Overload! Love all the cute new things hitting shelves now! And I’ll take my cookies with M&Ms please! 🙂
Stef Smith says
I’m going to make chocolate chip cookies this evening, no M&M’s, just chocolate chips. But I use whole wheat flour, makes them a little “toothy” but a teensy bit healthier for the kids! LOL!
Chelsea says
I’m in love with LORAC eyeshadows lately, love the packaging on those palettes!
And I might have to pick up some kind of gluten-free dessert now…
rose says
I LOVE that Bouchon Bakery macarons will have to suffice. lol. Man, I’m going to have to make a trip to the Bouchon down here to get my macaron fix on. Hope you have a great weekend!
Nikita says
Oh my goodness, this is sensory overload. Now I want to go to my Sephora and I’m hungry for chocolate – good thing I have a bar at home!
“I’m going through a phase where all I want to do on the weekends is paint my nails and nap.”
It’s not just you! I’ve been feeling this way for a few months now, and I’m loving it.
Vanessa says
Karen, I <3 you for this. So cool of you to post.
Danielle says
I just made chocolate chip cookies last night! I was disappointed because I didn’t have enough semi sweet chocolate chips and had to mix in some milk chocolate chips. Too sweet that way.
Bristol says
Karen, I LOVE this blog. What I also love is holiday makeup collections. The only catch is, I love about 1000km away from my closest Sephora. Thank you so much for the virtual tour, it was just what I needed. I live VERY rural, but I can still find ways to get my paws on great makeup and new releases thanks to your reviews and pics. Tabs has trained you well!! HAHA!
Phyrra says
Thanks for the swatches of the Lorac palettes! I like the berry one 🙂
Rachel says
Wish I was in US now so I can get my hands on these!
