It used to surprise me when someone would say that I look like their sister or their aunt or their cousin… I guess I have a doppelganger, or several doppelgangers, wandering the earth, and whether they like brown eyeshadow as much as I do, who knows?
If they don’t, though, and you show up on the blog one day, and I’m like, “Bluh! I hate brown eyeshadow!” then you’ll know that one of those doppelgangers has carried out her nefarious plan, and I’m tied up somewhere in a closet.
Each of these new Clarins 4-Colour Eyeshadow Palettes ($43 each), which are new for fall/winter 2016 and available now, is made to complement a different eye color. There’s one for brown eyes, one for green eyes and one for blue eyes.
Eyeshadow palettes like these that are designed for a specific eye color are usually rooted in color theory, like, these colors are supposed to make blue eyes appear more blue, or green eyes appear more green, or brown eyes appear more brown, but I don’t know yet. I’ve only just swatched them on my arm, but as far as I can tell, they seem consistent with the Clarins eyeshadows I’ve used before.
They’re on the sheer side, and the shimmer is very Chanel-esque meets Bobbi Brown. Nothing too flash or in your face, but I think that’s the Clarins style, which I like. I like that the shadows are sheer, easy to blend and that they aren’t super intense.
We shall see how it goes. I’m gonna do something with them in the next few days. 🙂
Do you like Clarins? Are there any things in the line that you particularly like?

The Rosewood palette is right up my alley. Luckily, I have green eyes.

Reese Witherspoon Karen! You look like her! I finally figured it out!

Brown eyeshadows are the best eyeshadows! These are pretty. The last thing I need right now is new neutral eyeshadow (I threw a bunch of makeup away recently due to a stinkbug infestation in my vanity), but I just got a Naked palette and a MUFE eyeshadow palette, in addition to a BareMinerals palette I already owned.
I don’t think I’ve ever owned anything Clarins. I used to fill in at their counter once in a while when I worked at Macy’s.

Brown eyes usually get a boring eye shadow palette. For some reason I tend to want the green eyes palettes best.

Clarins is a brand I haven’t explored much, but these quads look really nice. I think the one for green eyes would be the most flattering on my hazel eyes. Plummy/reddish shades usually really make them pop – I guess that’s because they enhance the green flecks.

Chanel-esque meets Bobbi Brown, see, I TOTALLY understand that 🙂

The palette for green eyes looks really pretty, I love me some purples! Not that I don’t like nudes and browns, because I do, but the palette for blue eyes looks a little boring.

I have the rosewood palette, and I love it! It has the most shine (I’m terrible with matte shadow, I don’t know why, but I go all klutz when I shoot for a predominately matte look!) and it’s pretty easy to work with for someone as uncoordinated as I am!
I also use clarins’ toner, (I’m hooked on the translucent, orange-colored, hydrating one, but the chamomile one is good too!) annnd I like their sort of cream-to-powder iridescent shadow pot in the silvered plum shade… it has beautiful shimmer!!

I like the Rosewood palette!

I’ve long been wanting to try out Clarins eyeshadow. I’ll go look for these quads. It looks like a good place to start. 🙂

I have deep brown eyes, but that one for green eyes is definitely the one I would choose! The brown eye palettes are always the most boring!

I’ve never used any Clarins shadows before, usually because they swatch so sheerly when I’m in the store. I like bits and parts of each of these. I like the middle two colors on each of these.

I have never wanted to buy a Clarins eye shadow palette after swatching as the colour pay off is so poor. I have very dark brown eyes and the brown palette does not appeal..wish they would add some light peach or apricot/copper colour to add some interest. Second colour on the left of the brown palette also seems quite ashy for brown eyes, perhaps a warm gold would have been better. Clarins packaging is always wonderful though.

I’m not usually that much drawn to brown eyeshadows, Karen (give me some silvery greys!), but I’m really liking the colors in the 03 Brown for brown eyes palette. My eyes look ‘brown’ from a couple of feet away, but up close they’re a dark hazel, medium golden brown + olive green, with a grey rim around the iris — odd colored eyes for my very cool-undertoned skin (except for that grey rim).

These palettes are stunning – I typically prefer a slightly more sheer formula, especially in a holiday palette. I’ve always loved Clarins, I think they do a fantastic job in creating products that I actually reach for often!
