Smashbox Untamed Swatches and Pictures

Smashbox is breaking away from the summer pack with the new Untamed collection (on sale now), ditching their teal, bronze and gold competitors (hello, Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess, Laura Mercier Mediterranean Sea and Urban Decay Get Baked) with a palette of tan, reddish brown, taupe, purple and green.
The six-piece collection…
- Untamed Waterproof Shadow Liner Trio in Exotic ($29): shimmery tan, eggplant and taupe cream eyeliners
- Untamed Waterproof Shadow Liner Trio in Savage ($29): shimmery peach, shimmery green and shimmery brown cream eyeliners
- Double-Ended Eye Brightener ($22): two products in one — a shimmery gold eye pencil on one end; shimmery peachy pink on the other
- Untamed Creamy Cheek Color in Terracotta ($24): a warm, reddish brown cream blush
- Untamed Lipgloss in Raw ($18): a creamy, deep brownish red gloss
- Untamed Lipgloss in Flesh ($18): a creamy, golden nude gloss
It’s a relatively small collection with a minimalist vibe, yet there’s enough color among the blend of creamy and shimmery finishes to create some interesting looks.

I lurve the mix of warm and cool shades in this collection. Most summer releases lean toward shades for warmer skin tones, so I’m fully on board whenever a company decides to be different. Thumbs up, Smashbox!
I think Untamed is one of the standout releases of 2009. What say you?

Hey Karen,
I love your posts! I’m really intrigued with the eye brightener. I currently use Mr. Frosty by Benefit, but I’m not loving it. Have you tried the Smashbox version?

The brightener duo and the eyeliners are maybes but the rest are far too warm for my cool complexion. I don’t spend much time in the sun save for Vitamin D consumption by walking Zena. They look fab on you.

love the liners and the brightener duo. It does look like one of the more interesting collections this summer.

Hi Karen
I like the eye brightener duo and the shadow liner colors, but the flesh gloss reminds me of fresh blood, ewww… could do a dracula look with it, what say?

Hi Mukho,
LOL! On the lips more brown than red comes through. But yah, I could see how it could be vampire-y.

Hi Karen B.,
Me too! I really like how minimalist it is.

Hi Kate & Zena,
Thanks! Have a good Tuesday.

Hi Sarah,
Yup! I gotta pluck my eyebrows (they’re a lil’ out of control right now), but when that’s done I’ll post one.

I really like the eyeliners you swatched – the only thing is I find Smashbox Eyeliners not very long wearing. I wish they had made those colours in shadows or cream shadows. Overall I think the colour palette is great!
14. Karen said, on May 5th, 2009:
Hi Cloudburst,
I like it, too. It’s summery without being typical.
15. Karen said, on May 5th, 2009:
Hi Kristy,
Hmm, are you referring to the Photo Op Under Eye Brightener?
16. Erin said, on May 5th, 2009:
I love the Exotic trio and the double-ended eye brightener, I’ll probably get those. But that lovely Terracotta cheek color would look scary on my face, so sadly that will not be coming home with me!!!
17. Karen said, on May 5th, 2009:
Hi Erin,
Oh, that’s too bad! It has a thin texture that’s reminiscent of the MAC Just a Pinch.
Anyway, I hope you’re having a nice Tuesday so far! Got anything exciting going on today? I’m going back to the salon this afternoon to get my hair colored so I’m looking forward to that.

The terracotta cheek tint looks delicious!
19. Karen said, on May 5th, 2009:
Hi Meream,
I know! I love the creamy texture and finish.

Hmm.. the eye brightener looks interesting.. I’ve tried many brands, everything from tarte to pixi to even Clean & Clear (lol) and nothing really helps the purple rings ;__; I might give this a go..

I’ve heard that Smashbox is coming to Malaysia in May but it’s May now but still no news of it. But I really hope when they arrive on Malaysian shores, they’ll have all th eabove for sale right away! They are just so pretty.
Untamed Waterproof Shadow Liner Trio in Exotic is gorgeous and the eye brighteners….can’t wait to check them out, if they ever come here, that is!
