Shu shopping ideas
- Accessible Luxury: Shu Uemura Knows Lashes Inside and Out
“Genetics bestowed upon me wimpy, ho-hum lashes … and then made me so clumsy that I couldn’t apply false ones to save my life. Oh, the sweet eyelash irony! Enter the Shu Uemura lash bar, aka false eyelash nirvana, where the lashes are affordable and the appointment booking process couldn’t be easier. Whether you’re looking for a little lash extension, or you’re aching for crazy, over-the-top-lashes to overcompensate for many years of eyelash inadequacy (*ahem*), Shu’s got you covered.” - Shu Uemura Makeup Tutorial: Go Pastel for a Fresh Spring Eye
“I’m not normally terribly attracted to pastel shades, but these colors are fun, easy to use and have great color payoff. I combined them with Shu’s Tri-Color Eye Pencils (also from the Rebirth collection) and got in touch with my blossoming inner color diva.” - Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Crystal Shine Lipstick Swatches and Pics
“Falling in love with these $23 lippies was easy. They make my lips shine brighter than a glazed doughnut (mmm… doughnut) yet still feel feather-light on my lips. They pack tons of color, and there are a bunch of shades to choose from — 17 in all!” - Shu Uemura Phyto-Black Lift, Anti-aging Skin Care Collection
“It’s easy to fall in love with all three products in Shu Uemura’s Phyto-Black Lift anti-aging skin care system. With sleek black packaging, a light floral scent and smooth textures, the products are a skin care junkie’s luxury dream come true.” - Shu Uemura Eyeshadow Swatches – Rebirth Spring 2008 Collection
“Anyway I’m running around today but I couldn’t leave ya hanging, so here are a few lovely swatches for you on this lovely Wednesday.” - Lip Look: Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited in RD 165N
“The color makes me look like I just ate a whole bag of red Jolly Rancher candies, but I think it even looks brighter in the tube than it does on my lips. Gloss Unlimited RD 165N has a light orange scent and feels thinner than Clinique’s Cherry Bomb. Despite its consistency, Gloss Unlimited didn’t dry out my lips when I used it…” - Midnight Manicure with Shu Uemura Nail Polish
“I’m on a Shu Uemura nail polish kick, and last night’s midnight manicure in Gold Beige may not have been the best use of time. Eh, who am I kidding?? Of course it was! I officially love these polishes and can’t wait to get more. Gold Beige dries fast, applies easily and looks great.”
Today was the longest day of work ever! The accountant stopped by the office to do the books for the end of the fiscal year and had to use my computer, so I had no internet or email all afternoon. Aggghhh! How did people *way* back in the early 90s survive office life before the Web? I felt so disconnected, like I was stranded on a desert island with nothing but coconuts. I got so desperate that I clutched feverishly to my CrackBerry until, of course, the battery died. The horror!
It’s off to dance class for me tonight. When I get home I have to wrap the present I got for my brother from Hawaii. Here’s the front of one of the shirts I picked up for him on Maui.
LOL! This shirt is wrong on so many levels. That’s why I love it. Last time I checked, cats lacked opposable thumbs, but I guess somewhere along the way the cat in the middle learned how to play guitar.
And is the cat on the right wearing Borat’s swimsuit?
The gold ankle bracelet and butt bow are also nice touches.
How was your hump day? Anything exciting happen?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
First time here? Before you go, try your luck with a random post from the archives.

Thanks for the recommendations. I got this email today and am tempted to buy some skin care items. I have been browsing MUA but I am still not sure if I can justify the expense even with the coupon.
Marisols last blog post..Finally seeing myself
Karen says
Hi Marisol,
Hmm, which skin care items were you thinking of? I gotta say the Phyto Black Lift Toner is really great; yeah, it’s still expensive even with the discount, but the bottle is really big, and you don’t have to use a ton. I dunno, I suppose when it all breaks down it is still just toner (and maybe not as essential as face wash or moisturizer), but it’s good stuff.
How was your day?
Glosslizard says
Aagh! Just when I thought I had my spending under control! That is not fair!
LOLOLOLZ! I would totally buy that shirt for my brother!
Lehea says
I love how that (Borat) cat’s bracelet is red in front and gold in the back. Haha! The one with the dreads had me rollin’.
Amanda says
ooooh no, Karen….I *did not* need to see this! I was just convincing myself that I do not need one of the anniversary palettes, or crystal shine lipstick. I keep telling myself I have too much makeup already, I don’t need it, I don’t need it. But those palettes are so BE-AUTIFUL, and would be so handy for travel, right?
EtherealPrey says
ZOMG! Shu sale!!!!! *cries* I have no more money after going to the sample sale! Well let me see if there are a few items I can get…just one won’t hurt right?
Dao says
Oh gosh, you are such an enabler! I have my eyes on the beta-glucan cream which is $70! It’s such a wonderful night cream for me, my face lurves it so much! Now with the 20% sale, mama will take you home 🙂
Lol at the cats, hope ur bro will enjoy it!
Karen says
Hi Glosslizard,
LOL, isn’t that shirt so great? I thought about keeping it for myself!
I know, I know! It’s like being handed the keys to the candy store. I’m going to the Shu counter tomorrow to test some shadows; hopefully when I get home to my computer they will still be available online. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Lehea,
HA! The cat with the dreads is probably my fave. He looks so fetching with his tasteful gold hoop.
Karen says
Hi Amanda,
Girl, I think you’re going to need one of those anniversary palettes! I think I’m going to need some eyeshadows, too. 🙂
Karen says
Hi EtherealPrey,
Nope, it won’t. I’m saving like crazy for Chanel fall, but I won’t feel too badly if I just get a shadow (or two).
Karen says
Hi Dao,
YAY! What do you like about that cream? Perhaps I will try it if it works for my skin.
Nosh says
oh my goodness… I just spent $100 on this STUPID STUPID STUPID SALE!! =( Somebody hold me :'(
I got good stuff though!! … I feel a little bipolar right now:
Fleur de Rose Palette
Sun Stream Spring 2008 Pressed eyeshadow (I already have it in Spring Breeze and I loved it so much that I had to get another)
25TH BTB limited edition shimmer liquid liner in black
No more shopping again.
Ever.
(I’m serious.)
Karen says
Nosh!
Gotta high five you, girl. That’s some good sh*t. Sun Stream is super gorgeous, and so is the Fleur de Rose palette (you’re going to get so much use out of it.)
You need to tell me if you like that shimmer liquid liner!
Dao says
The cream is beta-G glucan gel cream, link is here: http://www.shuuemura-usa.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?CategoryID=453&ProductID=707
It’s very thick and creamy, I use the size of a pencil eraser to cover my entire face. Most face cream I use just sit on my face but this one sinks right in. I think it’s because of the gel part of it. Plus it’s very soothing which helps a lot during the time I have breakouts. I love it as a night cream 🙂
