Makeup pop quiz question 1: Is it a lipstick, a lip liner or just a good ‘ol-fashioned excuse to pretend we’re back in eighth-grade art class?
Answer: D, all of the above. The new Bobbi Brown Art Sticks ($26 each) are all of those things!
Spotted these chunky lip crayons at Saks Fifth Avenue in the city this afternoon. They’re like lipstick lycanthropes — part lipstick, part liner, 100-percent pure chunky stick pencil fun.
And pretty convenient tools if you like to streamline, am I right?
Not that I’m prepared to ditch any of the 3,646 lip products I regularly tote around with me throughout the day, but still. It’s nice to know that if I could streamline my lip product situation if I ever needed to.
There are eight shades in all, each with a creamy finish. Just line your lips, fill them in, and you’re good to go.
You can find the new Art Sticks now ($26 each) at Bobbi Brown counters and online.

Nice! I like that the tapered tip of the cap, which looks like it’d belong to a regularly-proportioned pencil, makes these look HUGE! Sunset Orange is catching my eye.
Karen says
Hi Erin,
That’s the only thing… They are pretty freakishly huge, but in a way that’s helpful when I’m rutting around inside my purse. You’ll know what you’re grabbing when you aren’t looking because it is so huge.
Hope you have a great weekend.

Yikes, lip crayons on steroids! Like the shades a lot, but not sure I want to carry those huge things around in my already crowded MU bag 😉
Karen says
Hi Allison,
Now that I think about it, yes, that. They’re beyond reasonably big, but I was just saying to Erin up there that, in a way, it’s helpful that they’re easy to identify when you’re just reaching around inside a purse without looking, but they could have achieved the same result by just adding a textured surface to a smaller tube, or something like that. Yup.

I hate having to get liners for every color of lipstick I have so I have clear and nude ones only and occasional berries, reds, nudes, browns but these would be great for a quick easy look!

Sunset Orange is calling my name! They look huge though for a pencil!
Fancie says
These things look huge lol. But I like the colors though and they do look pretty creamy
Gowthami says
Rose brown shade looks good! And they look quite big!
Erin says
Holy Cow, those are huge! Pretty but huge!

Karen loved this pencil mouth, that beautiful color!
Caitlin says
These are mighty large but I’m alllllll over them! The first and last ones on both the top and bottom row are all fighting for my attention.
Sylirael says
Is it just me, or are makeup ‘crayons’ that much cooler when they’re cartoonishly large? 😀
The colours look very creamy and pigmented!
Alison says
I like the look of Cherrywood and Cassis!

I’ve been dying to see a post on these! And oh my lawdddd they’s big. I’ll probably still get a few lol can’t resist BB!
Julia says
WOW this is making me so angry. You all complain about how big it is but not one person thinks to look up how much product you get. it’s 0.2 OZ!!! nars matte lip pencils are 0.086 oz for pretty much the same price!!!! wtf!!! this is why companies are shrinking down makeup product sizes. people complain when their sizes get shrinked but they are not happy when the opposite happens. ok rant over!
Lin says
These feel amazing on your lips! So smooth, your lips feel bare. The color is intense or you can wear it as a stain. Sunset Orange is beautiful. Must have another one!
Carol says
So agree with Julia’s post up there. I love that you get so much pencil for your buck. I have 3 of these pencils and it’s so easy to carry around in your purse. I also live in a warm climate and hate to see my lipsticks soften up when I’m toting it outside all day. With these lip pencils, I can easily grab, go, line my lips AND get a nice matte finish. And they don’t melt/soften up. Love them!!

I have sunset orange and I LOVE it. I have always been too self-conscious to wear bright lippies without feeling like they would slide off my lips/dry them/sink into fine lines, etc. (which a lot of products do, unfortunately). This works really well for me, though – it lasted for a good six hours (including eating and drinking at a bridal shower). I felt so confident wearing it and every time I checked it looked fresh! I would love a couple of other colors including electric pink and Harlow red. Plus, they’re moisturizing and not as heavy as you’d think with how big they are – the pencils are actually pretty lightweight. And I love the big sharpener that comes with the lippie. 5/5 for me!
