I popped by Sephora this afternoon to snag a jar of Stila Hydrating Finishing Powder. I’d been wanting to try it for a while (review coming soon!), but, like a true makeup junkie, I couldn’t just grab one thing and leave. I had to look around, and then these cute Wallet Palettes by Pop Beauty took hold of me and wouldn’t let go!
A Real Eye Shadow Bargain
There are seven of them, ranging in price from $32 to $42. Each wallet contains a different color-themed eye shadow palette. They go by the names Brown Eyes, Green Eyes, Blue Eyes, Smokey Eyes, Smokey Rose, Day to Play and Bronze Pop.
The palettes are mixes of coordinated shimmers and matte shadows; a couple of them also come with blushes and lipsticks.
I think my favorites are Smokey Rose and Day to Play ($42 each).
Smokey Rose’s purple, faux-snakeskin case is packed with enough to create several different smokey looks — 12 eye shadows (shades of neutral pink, rose and blue), four blushes and two lipsticks. I can totally see myself packing these for a weekend trip! And the price… I really like the sound of $42 for 18 products. That works out to $2.33 each!
And Day to Play’s cute silver wallet houses 24 (!) eye shadows. At $1.75 each, it’s one of the better eye shadow bargains I’ve seen in a while.
I can see myself using the bright blues, greens and pinks on the “play” side when I’m feeling adventurous and bold. The subdued pinks, taupes and browns, on the other hand, would help when I’m getting ready for work.
As far as quality, I’d compare them to Tarte. I don’t think you’d confuse them with Shu Uemura or Dior, but they have good pigmentation and aren’t chalky or grainy at all.
Grow Your Eye Shadow Collection
These wallets are a great way to quickly build a sizable collection of eye shadow colors, and if you travel often or spend the night away from home, like maybe at your honey bunny’s place :), they’re a convenient and fashionable way to keep a wide variety of eye shadows in one streamlined case.
Daily Photo
After Sephora I dropped by Bloomingdales to drool over all the uber-expensive shoes I’ll never be able to afford. These $750 black and white Mary Jane pumps by Dior had me singing like Rick James all up in the middle of the shoe section, LOL! “Maaaary Jaaay-ayne!”

I’ve had my eyes on those shadows for so long already (their eye cakes too, i don’t know if they still make it though) I just can’t decide which one to buy! LOVE THE SHOES BY THE WAY!

LOL, Asta!
I can’t help it if I am compelled to share my makeup lust!

Hi Lindsay,
I really liked Smokey Rose, cause the colors seemed wearable and you get so much. 🙂
The Green Eyes palette is pretty tempting, too!

Hi Marisol,
LOL, not a shoe person?!? Girl, let me show you the light!
Karen says
Hi Eru,
I think the pigmentation is nice, however, these are sheerer than Shu/MAC shadows. I don’t think that’s a bad thing, though, as some women may prefer sheerer eye looks that are buildable.
Karen says
Hi Gio,
Me too. I am going to think about it for a bit, but right now I’m leaning towards Smokey Rose.

Hey there! Thanks so much for the comment and I hope to hear more from you. Btw, your blog is a great idea! I will surely be coming back!

OMG THOSE SHOES! I’m so happy we don’t have a Bergman here. I’d spend all of my money on shoes.
Also that smokey rose palette seems perfect for me (with coming back home to Ostend at the weekends). I’ll have to find a Sephora in France asap 😉

Oh man, shoe p0rn! I wanted to try Pop since forever especially the “Day to Play” palette. I think that palette looks very similar to Pixi palette (Lumi Lux) that I saw at Target. But Pixi is a bit cheaper ($28 or 32 USD if I remember correctly)

I have the green eyes palette and I love it! I would definitely buy another one sometime. These really are great for travel because you can create some many different looks!

oh. my. those shoes! *drool*
I’ve been obessing over an eyeshadow palette….I’ve been looking at the tarte one and the new one’s by pixi at target. We have a family cruise coming up, and I will need to dress up in the evenings and have a little somethin’ natural for day. Plus, the small space of a cruise cabin! I’ve never been on one before, so I’m planning WAY ahead, trying to think of everything I’ll need. So, yeah, another brand to look at and decide if I need it for travel (and I still LOVE the shu’s one that had out recently but these prices are better)
BTW, the cat just ran up from the stairs at full speed and did a lap around the room. she’s so funny sometimes. 🙂

omigod – LOVE the shoes! You have excellent taste!
I was thinking of trying the green eyes palette.

I picked up Day to Play. While the color payoff wasn’t exactly what I was looking for, it was still a steal and worth every penny for how much you get!
Alyssa says
Stupid and totally OT q, but how to you write the comments on your pics? Is it a font or do you actually do it yourself in paint or something?
Karen says
Hi Rachie,
Thanks for leaving a comment, too! Hope you’re having a good weekend.
Karen says
Hi Karen B.,
Seriously, those shoes almost made me pass out. When are you going to France?
Karen says
Hi Dao,
Your sweet Tabs is acting like a crazy! He gives you crazy kitty laps and a few dainty bites to your wrist!
Karen says
Hi Erin,
Oh, that one looked really pretty, too. Do you use any other Pop products?
Karen says
Hi Amanda,
I know, right? I swear I was literally drooling.
Oh, I remember about you telling me about your cruise a few months ago. This is Hawaii one on NCL, right? LOL, I wonder if you’ll see the piece I wrote in your in-cabin guidebook…
You’ll want to bring makeup that stands up to the humidity and the heat, for sure!
Funny, Tabs was acting like a crazy this morning. He ran all over the house at full speed like he was doing laps!
Karen says
Hi Kristina,
The Green Eyes palette is *really pretty* in person. I found it quite tempting.
Are you a shoe person too?
Karen says
Hi Tiera,
True. The shadows are nice for the price. You can use ’em with a wet brush too as liner, which gives you even more flexibility.
Karen says
Hi Alyssa,
That’s my handwriting. I wish my writing was a font with a cool name (I’m kind of a font junkie).

Well, I might make a quick visit to Lille (it’s only about an hour and a half drive) to go shopping one weekend soon with my mum.

I LOVE POP Beauty! I have several of the eyeshadow palettes, but “Smokey Eyes” is my favorite, especially as it comes with instructions on how to do different versions of a smokey eye. I highly recommend this brand.
