We are fam-i-ly!
I’ve got all my Lip Tars with me!
We are fam-i-ly!
Get up everybody and sing!!
As I’m sitting here contemplating the 12 tiny Lip Tars in the new Pro’s Picks Portables Lip Tar: Test Tube X 12 Set by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics ($59), I’m singing Sister Sledge and imagining that the little tubes are all siblings in one big, happy family. They never fight, talk back to their parents, tattle on each other, plot to steal each other’s boyfriends, or say anything snarky about one another, like “so-and-so’s skinny jeans have been looking extra snug lately.” They’re always happy to hang out together, and they never, ever complain about having to share a room.
This new holiday set is a lot of fun. Despite their diminutive size (just 0.08 ounces each), these tiny tubes are bursting with pigment, and a nice number of them are mattes, which are very trendy right meow.
The 12 shades in the set range from tame neutrals to technicolor brights, and they were hand picked by OCC’s Pro Makeup Artists.
If you’re familiar with OCC’s Lip Tars, then you know about their bulletproof coverage and wear time. I usually get six or seven hours out of them.
Don’t be freaked out by how small these tubes look in my hand, because 1) I have crazy long monkey fingers, which are great for piano playing, but they tend to make whatever I’m holding appear even smaller than it actually is, and 2) when you apply these, you’ll only need to use one drop.
In fact, I’m guessing each tube will last around 50 applications.
The $59 Pro’s Pics Portables Lip Tars: Test Tube X 12 Set (a $72 value) includes 12 0.08-oz. OCC Test Tubes, a see-through pouch and a lip brush.
The colors…
- Interlace, a creamy pale peach
- Zhora, a metallic peach with pink shimmer
- Annika, a matte pale neutral peach
- Cha Cha, a matte pale tangerine
- Grandma, a matte coral
- Vintage, a matte deep burgundy
- Harlot, a matte neon popsicle red
- Nylon, a matte neon bubblegum pink
- Hoochie, a matte vibrant magenta
- Digitalis, a matte pinkish lavender
- Sebastian, a matte plummy taupe
- Iced, a metallic white frost
- and a #010 Precision Lip Brush.
I’ll probably finish Harlot first, the neon red, because it makes my lips look like I’ve spent the entire afternoon eating cherry popsicles and reading Sweet Valley High books (which was my favorite way to spend a weekend afternoon in seventh grade!).
Did anyone else wish they had a sister because of those books? 🙂
I like this kit a lot and can see it appealing to arty-fartsy makeup lovers/beauty connoisseurs who like to experiment with color, or to anyone who likes lots of pigment and quality cruelty-free, vegan makeup. I’d probably gift this to a friend like Alis, the gal who cuts my hair. She loves beauty, isn’t afraid of a bold lip and wields a lip brush like a pro.
The limited edition $59 Pro’s Pics Portables set is available now online and at Sephora.

The little tubes are so cute! The first row shades would be too much for me but I like almost all the shades from the second row.

Ahhh, I really want this set! I’ve never tried a Lip Tar, and there are so many colors here that I’d love to wear. I think Harlot and Hoochie are my favorites. If only the set included Technopagan…

“I have crazy long monkey fingers, which are great for piano playing.” LOL. That was funny. In all seriousness, these look beautiful. I wish the price were a bit lower, but it is what it is.

This set looks amazing! I’m really loving the colors and the price isn’t too bad either. I may need to add this to my Sephora cart lol

I’m mega-excited about these and just started playing with the set. I swatched them and OH! how pretty! I love the size because, while they are tiny, I can actually see finishing one or two during my life time. I love the Lip Tars in general, but the regular size is huge and I can’t imagine ever making it through a tube before it somehow went bad first. Harlot and Vintage are two of my faves so far, but Anika and Grandma are promising as well. And I’m strangely obsessed with Sebastian. Maybe I can find a way to pull it off!

This is such a good way of trying all the colors! I love vintage on you!

I’ve been eyeballing lip tars for years now. Never quite making the move since my lip stash is huge. This would be a perfect one and done!

I’m too much of a wuss when it comes to lip colors, so this set is not for me. I bet lippie lovers will love going all out with it though 🙂

When I think of lip products that are the exact opposite of what appeals to me, I always think of OCC Lip Tars. They are so bold and full coverage that there is no way I’d wear one. That said, I love it when you swatch and use them in FOTDs. They are a ton of fun to look at (just not wearable for me). 🙂

Indeed these do not do it for me. Ugh, too time consuming to apply. Gimme a tube o’ lipstick any day 😉

I always want a million lip tars but have yet to buy a single one… I suck. I love the little brush in the set too!

These look gorgeous! But I think I will have to pass. I have a couple of Lip Tars but I rarely wear them cos application is so time consuming!

I love the brights in the first row. Lip Tars are so much fun.

Vintage is pleasing
hoochie , I ahve my doubt, I like the shade on you swatch, but on the lips it looks so different by all the the pictures I saw.

I think you’ve convinced me to get this!! I’m not the hugest fan of occ lip tars but those swatches are amazing!!

I just got Harlot in my February Birchbox. Though the shade is gorgeous, and I love reds, my dry dry lips won’t let me wear mattes or OCC Lip Tar with the peppermint oil in the formula, cry. Love those reds on you!
